I'm having some difficulty finding the pointers for FF5's text. Does anyone know the hex offset of where they are, or a good way to go about finding them?

I've tried using relative searches with about 5 different programs and keep getting nothing.

Hey, I need more help with FF5, I've started ASM hacking it, and I found some very vague information about what some of the things in the C2 bank do.
I've even edited !observe so that instead it preforms a random attack that will either cast a random summon(10%), use X-Fight(10%), or use !kick on one enemy(80%) by JSRing those three skills.

What I really want to do is make it use a random blue magic skill for zero MP regardless of if you know it or not, with a 1/255 chance of casting Grand Cross.
Unfortunatly, I can't find the ASM code for casting spells, and I have a suspect that the register or data bank or accumulator has something to do with deciding which spell is cast.

Anyone willing to help out? Much thanks.

I use YY_CHR nin windows for most of my tile editing, but since it doesn't support weird tile formats, like 16x40 that FF4-6 uses for battle sprites, or the 3bitplane mode alot of good games use. I also use Tmod2, which is dos based, but allows for more fiddling with the tile size/bitplanes, and allows you to make custom settings for bitplanes/tilesize.

YY-CHR is very good with pallettes, just load the savestate from ZSNES and scroll through the colorsets when you're on the right bitplane.

I just wished it supported variable tile sizes.

I've been trying to hack some of the skills/magic in FF5, but I'm having trouble figuring out how the magic spells work. I'm doing it in ASM, but it's hard because there's not much information on the subject. Can anyone give me a hand with some information?

I can post the contents of the C2 bank (deals with combat skills and damage formulas) if anyone wants to see it to help. Thanks.

I've been messing around with Mizu and Cave Story's TSC files, and gotten some new info.
I've figured out what some of the unnamed entities are (about 200 or so), and I've figured out what some TSC commands are.

Once I finish copying what's on my notepad to my computer, I'll post it here.

But as far as the TSC commands, MNPXXXX:YYYY:ZZZZ:WWWW = MoveNonPlayer, it moves an entity with TSC of X to coodinates Y/Z. I'm not sure what W does.

Also, ANP doesn't animate an entity. It does something else. I accidentally used it to get call a Health Capsule script that wasn't even on the same map by copying the ANP command that plays when you fight Ballos.
