I made a thread for Team Handball (which is the normal name used for it) some years ago, during the Women's World Cup (not the last one, but the one before that). Team Handball is actually the second largest sport in Europe, after Football. In the older days, it existed in two versions. An outdoors one, on grass, with 11 players, and an indoors with 7 players. Today, even though some few still play outdoors, the indoors one is the big one.

The indoors version of the game originated in Scandinavia, and the Scandinavian nations are among the best in the World. On the men's side, Sweden is one of the best, and on the women's side, Norway and Denmark have been the top 2 over the last decade or so (even though both Norway and Denmark did poorly in the last World Cup. Norway didn't even manage to qualify for the Olympics, and Denmark wouldn't have either, had they not already been qualified thru winning the European Championships).

I enjoy watching Handball, and especially Women's Handball, since our national team is so good. I probably won't be paying too much attention come Athens 2004, however, since Norway won't be in it.

I doubt the men qualified, Col. It's always been the women's team that's been collecting the trophies. Actually, the women's team is so good, Handball is considered a women's sport in Norway. It's a popular sport here, as well, it gets the second most media coverage of all the summer sports, after footy.

Read up on some of the joke-threads in General Chat (especially NSNick's), notice that a lot more users were "banned", as well.

Oh, and check your calendar.

*closey closey*

(unless, of course, you know all along that this was a joke, and now you're only trying to pull a poor moderator's leg - if that is so, then I fell for it )

Oh, and these kinds of questions are best suited for a PM to an Admin/Mod, anyway...

I thought we had a rule saying something along the lines of "don't post in a thread if you know it's going to be closed". This goes out as a warning to all y'all who posted here and other obvious to-be-closed threads.

Well, no, since I always end up laughing when trying to fool someone.

Well, we just got the 'russ' clothing today (don't ask, and yes, I know it's late..)...

And, cheap as I am, I've gotten my parents to pay 'em, anyway, when I got home with the clothes, I tried to tell them that they hadn't payed enough for them, and that we'd gotten an extra bill of 1000 kr... but I'm a sucker at sounding convincing with these kind of things, so of course they didn't buy it.

I almost did the same thing. I was supposed to go to Germany to buy a lot of booze for the "russ" festivities in May, but in stead I'm going to Scotland. Anyway, I tricked my mom into thinking she still had to pay my tickets to Germany, and she bought it for a while.

Oh, and you got your clothes now? That's late! Are you having the same problems as we are having, though, with the possibility that you might not get cards at all?

That which we call Colleen by any other name [ZEM] would smell as sweet (not that Colleen smells sweet or anything).

Point is, names don't matter, Colleen got here first to register his, and I'm sure your name ZEM is just as fine...

I never really got the deal with people who fixates on their names so much, anyway...

No, no, no. You've misunderstood me completely.

Of course men can play handball if they want. Men and women can play whatever sport they want (we've actually come very far in terms of equality between sexes in this country). The thing is, though, that handball is considered a women's sport. The women get the most media attention, and the women get the most people watching their games. It's exactly the same in America, y'know. Take basketball, for instance, it is considered a men's sport, the men gets the most media attention and the biggest crowds, but there is also a women's league for basketball. All sports are generally associated with one sex, but that doesn't mean the other sex can't play.

Well, with easter vacation having started, I'm getting ready to make a little trip out of the country. First, early tomorrow morning, I'll make a short trip to Sweden, more exactly to Gothenburg, from where I'll catch a plane headed for Glasgow, Scotland. From there, I'll go to Edinburgh to visit my sister, and stay there until Tuesday. A nice little 4 day journey to Scotland, in other words. So, yeah, looks like I'm set for a nice ol' easter vacation...

So what are y'all doing this easter?

Sony Ericsson t610. It is a good phone, and it was kinda cool when I first got it, but now that practically everybody has it, it makes me look like a doggon crowd-follower, which annoys me. :/

Granddaddy's am180 is a really addicting song (it's the one they play when they're, ahem, "shopping" - I love that scene, by the way, especially when they leave the card at the counter at the end ). I need to find some way to get a hold of that song...
