Well, that's not the point, Kasumi. I prefer Labour a lot more than Tory (though they are both too right-wing), but I'm talking about the fairness in the system. It should be in your interest, as a supporter of a smaller p

Well, I guess we're all looking forward to Revenge of the Sith, and I see there are dual opinions on HHGttG (still haven't seen it, it ain't out yet here), but it recently got to my attention that they're also releasing The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe this December.

As a big fan of most Sci-Fi and Fantasy, I must say I'm thinking this will be a great year. Revenge of the Sith will, in my mind, most likely be the best movie, but I'm also a big fan of C.S. Lewis, and if they can make Narnia as good as they made the Lord of the Rings, it's sure to be a fantastic movie.

How can you not have heard of The Chronicles of Narnia? Written by C.S. Lewis, probably the second most known fantasy series in the world after The Lord of the Rings. The first book, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is also quite old, from 1950.

Excuse me while I go put on my charcoal suit and grey hat, looks like the fifties just returned.

Oh, and equalling liberalism (yes, in the American sense of the word) to socialism is, well, silly, to say the least.

Ok, about the socilaism/liberalism-thing: When I say "Liberalism in the American sense of the word", I try to differ between the way Americans and many other people understand the word "liberal". A liberal in many parts of the world is someone who is an economic libarlist, in other words, for a free-market with little-to-none government restrictions (on the old linear scale, this is a person who would be called "right-wing"). A liberal in America, however, is one who is a moral liberalist, in other words, one who believes in freedom of press, free speech, freedom of religion, basically any freedom with things conscerning the human mind and moral system (basically anyone on the old linear scale could hold these beliefs, but liberals in America, members of the Democratic party, are basically centrists). To discern between these two kinds of liberals, one often uses the term "classic liberalist" for the former, and "modern liberalist" for the latter.
However, since this is an international board, we've had quite our share of problems regarding the term liberal, since people interpret it in very different ways in different parts of the world. That's why I put "Liberalism in the American sense of the word", to ensure that there would be no misunderstandings.

As for socialism, it's a political ideology that hardly exists in America (there are, of course, some very small socialist groups and parties in America, but none are big enough to ever have made an impact), and it has practically nothing in common with the politics of the Democratic Party, or modern liberalism as an ideology.
As for me, I'm a radical social-democrat (social-democrat means that you follow an ideology that pushes for socialism through reformist and democratic means. The word democrat in social-democrat has nothing to do with the Democratic Party of America. That I'm radical simply means that I belong to the left-wing of the social-democratic ideology), and thus I feel quite pissed off whenever some ignorant fellow comes around saying that liberalism and socialism is the same thing. They are not! They are far, far apart. I don't agree with a whole lot of what the Democratic party of America stands for, neither do any other communists/socialists/radical social-democrats (or most standard social-democrats, for that matter).
Politics is a lot more than simply this and that, them and us, here and there. There are a whole lot more than only two ideologies in this world, and believe you me, liberals have a lot more in common with conservatives than they do with socialists.

... and the reason for my posting about charcoal suits and grey hats was because I felt the general view on a woman and society was something I thought died out in the fifties. I was trying to be funny, and I'm also pretty sure Arwon was trying to be funny when he said "That's one hell of a strawman. Did you build it yourself, with your MIGHTY MAN HANDS?" (I found it funny anyway). That's why I find your talk about humour and the lack of other posters using it quite, well, odd.

Actually, children are born Christian. Jesus Christ said to his disciples to bring the little children to him, because they belonged in the Kingdom of Heaven. So children are Christians through virtue of being children.

That will most likely be my only post in this topic. I'm tired of religious discussions, since it's basically the same thing over and over again.

I'm being serious, yes. Through Christian dogma, children are granted entry to Heaven because they are children. This, of course, doesn't mean that children make a concious descicion to believe in God or Jesus Christ the day they are born. Only a fool would believe that. Children are ignorant to religion for many years from their birth, but since they are children, they will enter Heaven, should they die (which, of course, would be a tragedy).

(Not that I actually believe in Heaven, I'm talking strictly about what is Christian dogma here)

Well, Chelsea doesn't really have any more important matches this season, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Premier League wrapping up now, and it looks like WBA is gonna survie, actually! Unless the Saints can score two, or Crystal Palace one, come on Saints!

Nope, Chelsea has won the Premier League. There is a Cup, the F.A. Cup, with its final match being played after the league ends. The F.A. Cup is independent of the Premier League, though, and this year's final will be played by Arsenal and Man Utd (though it is a great honor to win the F.A. Cup, the biggest honor is in winning the Premier League. Some teams achieve "doubles", meaning they win both the Cup and the League in one season, and in 1999, Man Utd became the first and only English team to win a treble (Cup, League and Champions League in one season).

Those are interesting flags, they bring up some really interesting points... I wouldn't say I "liked" any of the flags, seeing as how the whole situation they present is a quite traigal one, but still, it's sad, but true.
