YD: They're large than usual and if they get in my face, I might get sick. It's no fun, I tell you. As for serving in the military, it seemed like a neat thing to do, while planning what to do next. Now I go straight from Secondary School to University, in stead of having an off-year and doing some cool militaryish things. Being a military-man isn't exactly dangerous, either. The odds of anyone attacking Norway in the close future are unbelieveably small, and the only soldiers who are sent on NATO or UN-missions abroad are those who agree to it themselves.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiko Kooooooooooooooooooovac! 1-0 Croatia! Still 80 minutes to go, but, well, this will be interesting... Edit: A the fear of sounding repetitive, England keeps getting lucky. Their play doesn't impress me, they're quite good some times against Croatia, but for certain periods, they stink. 1-1 would be an ok half time result, 2-1 just ain't right. Croatia can still make a comeback, but, well, it'll be tough. If France wins their match against Switzerland (currently 1-1), we'll have a Quarter Final between two overhyped teams who have both failed to impress (England/Portugal)... Well, today was the first good game from England so far. They were horrid against France, and made too many mistakes against Switzerland. The goals they let in against Croatia shows that England still has many defensive problems, especially during set pieces. I actually supported England in this group at the beginning of the tournament, but their poor and boring performance against France made me want to see them gone. Now that they're playing Portugal, I don't know who to support, since they've both been great disappointments. Now, tomorrow. Italians accuse Danes and Swedes for "fixing" a 2-2. I doubt they'd do that, as one of the Danish players said, "it's just not something people with a Scandinavian mentality does" |

Well, that's it for me. I'm on vacation in Denmark for a week, so I'll be leaving this topic. Hopefully, Denmark advances, so I'll get to see their QF together with the Danes. Somebody update the titles when I'm gone?

You know, after careful consideration, I'm going to drop my nomination for Steadman, and add Nirvana, Rock (Smells Like Teen Spirit - Lithium - Breed) And, yeah, I know Nirvana is grunge (and so is Bush), but, well, grunge is really a sub-division of rock, no? And you didn't want it too specified... (edited by The SomerZ on 06-30-04 06:16 PM) (edited by The SomerZ on 06-30-04 06:18 PM) |

Well, my opening bracket is now screwed up. I got the Portugal vs. The Netherlands semi-final match-up correct, but guessed the wrong winner. France vs. Germany was a mistake. Now, as for today's match. Maniche... Best.shot.ever? The funny thing was that the goal came so quickly, they were still doing the replay on the thing that led to the corner when he suddenly scored. I've seen goals come during replays in handball-matches before, but never in a football-match! |

Well, I'm back from a one-week trip to Denmark. I've had quite a lot of fun, though the trip was disappointing weatherwise (you can read all about it in the link provided, if you want). Anyway, my vacation is pretty much over now, it's all work from now on. Not going any places, not seeing anything, not doing anything. Just work. I guess it's needed, though, if I want to make money. Who else is in the same situation as I am this year, with a minimal vacation and a lot of work?

Pictures will be added once I find the USB-cable that connects from my camera to my computer. I have a suspicion my sister might have taken it. Denmark is known for Niels Bohr and Tycho Brahe (for whom Tycho in PA is named), both important within science. Hans Christian Andersen, who made tons of famous fairy-tales, is Danish. In popular culture, Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn in LotR) is half-Danish, while movie-director Lars von Trier and Lars Ulrich of Metallica are Danish. In sports, Denmark has Bjarne Riis, winner of the Tour de France 1996, as well as goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, and the Laudrup-brothers. Oh, and the story in Hamlet is set to Denmark. The famous Danish beer is not Heineken (Heineken is Dutch), but Carlsberg. Another world-famous Danish company is Lego, which I'm sure you've all played with as little kids. |

You could always use the bridge, of course. The bus we used (Swebus Express) used the bridge. It was quite huge. So I take it you live somewhere around Malm |

And not a single reply from a Canadian. Well, happy Canada Day (our day was a month and a half ago now). |

Good job by both teams in the first half. I still think The Czech Rep. will pull through as the winner, but the match is still very open.

Haha! What do you say now, Colleen? I've said it before and I'll say it again: German-style Tactical Teamwork > Individual Brilliance!

Bah! Otto Rehagel has applied German-style coaching and tactics to the Greek team, and that's what has made them good! Now, forgive me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this make the Czech Rep. the first team ever to lose to a golden goal (Germany 2-1 Czech Rep, 1996 Euro Final Match) and to a silver goal (Greece 1-0 Czech Rep, 2004 Euro Semi-Final Match)? Hm, I read an article here which statest that the first golden goal actually came in the 1993 World Youth Championship, but, well, A - Czech lost the first match in a major tournament then, if this statement is true, and B - I doubt the authencity of this article, since it also claims that Porto beat Celtic in the 2003 UEFA Cup Final on a silver goal, which Porto did not, since their goal came in the second half. Personally, I think the silver goal is kind of stupid. I can understand that it is a security hazard to have frustrated fans who go from Heaven to Hell in 0 seconds (though it was pretty much like that for the Czechs today, too), but should then not the PK's be removed, as well? Personally, I think a system much like Hockey, where you play 15 minute golden goal extra times until one winner is decided, would be the best way to go. Of course, it'd suck if you got to the 10th extra time period without noone scoring, but what are the odds of that? |

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit The greatest song of the 90's? Nah. One of the greatest? Yah. Most influentual song of the 90's? Could be... All in all, a great song that shouldn't really need an introduction, you all know it. |

You take the two greatest bands of all time and put them up against each other in battle one? Oh well, my vote will have to go to Oasis, though I'm not particularly happy about voting against The Stone Roses. |
