Other friends include Alicia, Stuart, the other older SFers that have earned his trust, and the hopeless, but friendly crew of his spaceship, the Weatherdark. He does not have much contact with his family. (Well, the family-link between SomerZ and SomerZ is somewhat explained in the Profiles thread. The whole background for their relationship is looong, however. I guess new people will understand more as they go along and get to know SomerZ and SomerZ. )

SomerZ: Alright, Alicia, turn on exterior speakers.
Alicia: *Turns on exterior speakers*
SomerZ: *Turns on radio* Bye, bye Barneys!

The scene turns to a bloody one, as all the Barneys scream out in pain, and starts falling to the ground, one after another.

I never said there was anything wrong with communism. It's just that a lot of people like to think that Communism = Bad, and that Socialism = Communism = Bad. So I'd just like to clear that up right there and now. To avoid confusion and such.

I can switch between Norwegian and English easily, whenever I speak/write German, however, I sometimes tend to accidentally add English words into it (never Norwegian, however ).

Sometimes when I'm writing messages for my friends (be it eMail or SMS), I switch around using Norwegian Bokm

Most North-American comics (Marvel and the likes) are weird. I especially find it hard to see where the "comical" part comes in. Everyone knows the best comics in the world comes from the France/Benelux-area.

I guess my absolute favorite comic would be Asterix (by Goscinny and Uderzo). It's famous in Europe, and almost unheard of in America.
Tintin (by Herge) is also a great comic.

I suggest y'all check up on those.

Apparantly, them people over at NASA have found a planet-like thingy which they have unofficially nicknamed Sedna. So, any thoughts? Is this the 10th planet in our Solar system, or simply an overgrown planet-like thingy? Will Sedna bring any interesting answers to questions about our solar system? Will this even affect our lives in any way at all?

About the name. Sedna is the Inuit goddess of the sea.

Now, I don't see what this "planet" has to do with the sea. If it contains water, it's going to be frozen.
And Inuit mythology? NASA must have used up all the gods from the cool mythologies if they start using Inuit ones...

My rabbit, Paulus, died of old age last summer.

As for my cat, her new owners killed her, I'm still really angry and pissed off because of that. Poor Astrid.

So now I'm pet-less.

Actually, Banedon, Earth's official name is Terra or Tellus, who was a Roman goddess.

And as for Jupiter's moon Europa, I'm assuming Kitten Yiffer got confused by the fact that in Swedish, both the moon and the continent (which isn't really a continent, but I won't get into this here) is called Europa, and thus it was natural for Kitten Yiffer to assume that since Europa the continent was translated into Europe in English, Europa the moon would be the same.

No, actually, Gaia stands for the fertility of the earth in Greek Mythology and can be used as a name for land or earth. People who believed in Gaia basically believed that the Earth was a female human being, and that her name was Gaia.

It may also be that you've heard talk about the Gaia planet from fans of Isaac Asimov (famous Sci-Fi writer who is most noteworthy for his Laws of Robotics). He wrote about a planet called Gaia in some of his books.

As for why they named a moon after a continent. The continent was named after a woman, Europa, who was actually not a goddess, but she did have a connection to Zeus in some way. So Europa was a mythological figure, as well.

Did you know English is the only Germanic language where the continent is called Europe, and not Europa?

Actually, Imajin, there are heaps of Germanic Languages. Some are extinct, but a lot of Germanic languages are still spoken today.

Read the FAQ.

DON'T number 3:
Don't be a bigot. Hateful, discriminating, or homophobic remarks are not welcome on this board. (DUDE THATS GAY STFU UR GAY)

Please refrain from using the word "gay" as something negative.

Other than that. Sure, sounds like an interesting idea. I don't know if I'm exactly up for it, but I'm sure some others are.

It's not my fault, really. I just mentioned what books I read/want to read, and they happen to be books on political philosophy, and that's how it all turned to politics...

Anyway, me being a mod, the obvious answer for me would be to go like this:

*closey closey*

And then actually close the thread.

Well, acording to my Norwegian teacher, I'm a good writer. At least that's what he says in the comments I get to the papers I hand in. In his comment on my last paper, he basically debunked everything (or a lot of what) I said, before he ended with the phrase "but by all means, you write well." I thought that was kinda cool.
