Paper Mario is a rather complicated game, though, programming-wise. The emulator probably can't handle it.

Hm, I'm having a problem with the editor. It won't show a lot of objects (nothing near the start point), and the camera moves really slow. It was fine with the last version, though.

Anyway, has anyone tried having 2 start points? One that shows on a certain act, and one that shows on other acts? Could be pretty cool...

Nice storyline. Comments on the pics:

Top: Looks good, but "Bowser's Time Attack" is hard to read, given that it's made of very similar shades of blue placed on a blue background.

1: Plant coming out of the ground = bad. Missing top of ground, corner doesn't connect properly, and clouds on the ground.

2: Good. The big clouds look like they're in the FG (are they?) but I'm not sure what you can do about that.

3: The mud doesn't look right, after the top tiles is just one solid colour.

4: The palettes are burning my eyes, there's upside-down mud (though properly set up this time) stuck next to dirt, no ground edge at the right on the bottom, and the plants are flying.

5: Glitched bush which shouldn't even be in the water, no top on the ground.

6: More really bad colours.

7: Still bad colours including the status bar. BG showing through the FG looks confusing and crappy, especially near the sign. Why all the blue ? blocks?

8: BG showing through FG again.

9: Too bright, again with the BG.

10: Same thing as 9.

11: Top looks glitchy. WTF is that at the right?

12: Cool. The Marios should have a different palette, though, so you can tell them apart easier.

No, only if you change the level number during the level, and I think that causes problems with things like Pause+Select.

I thought about giving Mario a sword once. You could make it act like the enemy had been shot. Or if possible, disable jumping on most enemies, and make the sword override that and act as if you jumped on it. That would be a little more realistic, and still allow you to have fireballs.

How efficient is the animation code? Maybe it could be sped up a bit, and/or converted to FastROM. For that matter, someone made a FastROM patch a while ago that fixes a lot of these problems, though it doesn't change the hacks LM adds.

Well, they are BMPs, I checked. They look cool, the gold and blue pipes look nice together, but in #9 Mario seems to be coming out of a pipe in the wrong spot.

That is a good idea, but in this case it might not work. With no 'save' button, you would expect it to save automatically. Just a 'Press F9 to save' text should work fine.

Hey, speaking of Japanese... How does LM edit the text in the Japanese ROM? You would need to have the font installed, and support for it, not to mention some way to type it. I guess it could use a simple Romaji-Kana convertor (caps for Katakana, lowercase for Hiragana) or something, since I doubt SMW has enough room for Kanji, but I'm just guessing here...
