So Continue goes back to the start of the loop? Neat! Also, there is one situation where loops can act the way Dwedit described. If you use the 'volatile' keyword, like so: voltatile int x = 12; Normally it would just stick x in a register and decrement it, but with the volatile keyword, it actually reads x from memory, decrements it, and writes it back. Why? In case another thread modifies it. If you want to end the loop from another thread by setting x to 0, it won't work without this keyword because the loop won't even notice the change. Of course this does mean volatile vars take longer to work with, so be careful how you use them. |

I like the idea of using gcc, it just seems like something so widely used should be a little easier to use. The thing that gets me most is that even if you specify filenames in quotes, it still trips up on spaces, so you have to use the MS-DOS path. No other program I know of has that restriction; you can execute edit.com "C:\Some path with spaces\a file omg.txr" just fine. But enough ranting. I did install all of those packages (and nothing else yet, actually). As far as PATH goes, I had removed all that stuff it added (figure there's no reason I can't just run it from where it's installed, like I do with MinGW), but that didn't work (couldn't find its files). So I hacked up a batch file to set it, then reset it after compiling, and that got it to run but it just gives me that same error. |

I like the sound of this zipzoomfly place. Have you ever actually ordered from there? My mom now insists on buying everything from a real physical store, even though the only options for that are Radio Shack/Circuit City (helloooo overcharge) or spending 100 bucks just to get to a store that might have reasonable prices.

Ah, yes, those are fun to make fun of. Same with "It's ok, I had Subway". Hello, 911? There's a madman out here with a gun! He's shooting at random! But there is good news, I just saved 15% on my car insurance by switching to Geico! ...Hello? Hello? |

When you say the game freezes, what exactly do you mean? Like everything stops completely, it crashes, or it just hangs there with the music and animation still playing but doesn't do anything? If it's just hanging there, it's probably just because the auto-scroll code and the pipe's scroll code are fighting. You could always disable auto-scroll until Mario exits the pipe, too. |

Yes, yes it is. Also you can mod your Gamecube to switch between US/JP easily, or if you're not into that, Freeloader and I think Action Replay can override the region lockout. |

Really, how can it be illegal to provide a list of web pages? To quote the article:
If you can go on Google and look up copyrighted material, then so can the copyright owner, making it that much easier to stop. As for that Google one, I assume it's just poorly-worded. |

That is the exact error. gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory That's if I set up the path right, otherwise it can't even find gcc. |

Alright, well I've been writing some ASM code for Gameboy, but I've run into a snag. I need to do the equation x = 131072 / x. Now, I have division code but it's only 16-bit (can only go up to 65535 / x) and honestly I really don't know how it works; I downloaded it somewhere and it's completely lacking comments. It returns the result and remainder, both 16-bit. I tried doing x = 4 * (32768 / x) - this almost works, but because the decimals get dropped, the result is not quite accurate. Eg: 131072 / 1998 = ~65.6, 32768 / 1998 = ~16.4, and 16.4 * 4 = 65.6. Problem being, since Gameboy has no floating point support, it ends up being 16 * 4 = 64. Sorry if this is confusing, I'm sleepy. I need to work out a way to do this, preferrably without having to modify the division code. |

Whenever I need to get rid of a troublesome program, I just use DOS. If you have XP, you'll need to find some NTFS drivers for it though.

My parents always send me these crappy stories about how someone almost died and realizes how special life is, blah blah wake me when it's over. I'm strongly considering just piping anything that starts with 'Fw:' to the trash. |
