Sounds fun. Got a base64 decoder handy, or do I have to go find/make one?Originally posted by BMF54123 That's precisely the problem. Having to view it in IE is teh suck for many reasons (no instant search, can't put it in a Mozilla tab, unnecessary resource usage etc), and having it split into 3 files is even worse, especially when IE opens whatever I type in the URL bar in a new window. |

Line In is the stereo input; Stereo Mix is sound output. (It seems to be a physical connection though, at least in my case, so you won't get any better sound quality than if you just connected the output right to the input. ) Also, Audacity pwns quite a bit.

Most modems are basically just phones stuck in a PCI slot. When you dial in is the sound coming from inside the computer or the speakers? If it's inside, you probably can't do much unless the modem itself has some sort of option; if it's coming from the speakers, it's probably using the Modem/Phone Line or Line In channel.

Eh, there's really only a few people I'm not going to name, besides spammers, that wouldn't be on such a list. Unlike in reality, on the board I go by a "cool unless proven otherwise" policy.

Cheese state? ...An entire state made of cheese? Screw Toronto, I'm going there. Cheese can be a rather odd substance though; different brands of the same cheese can taste very different. I had this one type of cheese that came in small, round pieces wrapped in red wax, it was frickin great. Another time I had a different brand of the same thing, and it was just gross. (Anyone know what kind that is, anyway? ) |

Haha, I could never do that. I'm a damn fast typist sure, but it's mainly because of major pre-buffering. (In less nerdy English, it's because I already know what I'm going to type immediately, so it's just a manner of moving my fingers the right way. ) In a situation where I don't know what I'm going to have to type, like a game, I tend to be very inaccurate. Also, typing the same few keys at high speeds gives me cramps pretty fast. *cough*cough*slimeforestadventure*cough*

That Murphy guy is a freakin' genius. And an optimist. Simple answer: The cat will rotate itself to point its feet toward the ground. As a result, the toast's resistance to being butter-side-up will cause a 180-degree rotation. This again causes the cat to flip itself over. Dropped a short distance, the results are unpredictable. However, if done from a high enough point, the toast will land butter-side down. As they fall the toast-rotation vs cat-rotation will create an ever-accellerating spin, sort of like a pseudo-perpetual-motion-machine effect. However this will eventually slow down rather abruptly, as the cat's rotation is a muscular movement, and the rotation speed at which a cat can survive is limited. In short: They'll spin really really fast until poor kitty dies from diziness, resulting in the toast landing butter-side down. (edited by HyperHacker on 02-15-05 11:29 PM) |

Originally posted by Kitten Yiffer There could be some slight truth to this in some cases. In OoT for example, the name entry screen can't fit all of Hiragana and Katakana on one screen, so there are some buttons added to choose between the two (and English as well). Someone who didn't know the difference might think this was some special feature. (Indeed, if you could use English letters in the Japanese version, why can't you use Japanese letters in the English version? ) This holds true if you use the Gameshark code on the English version to change it to Japanese, there are actually some slight changes: -Alphabet select as mentioned -Obviously some dialog re-worked to fit the larger font -Some camera angles are changed? I have no idea why, but they are... Most noticeably the scene where you get the Fairy Ocarina. -Added text on the title screen. Come to think of it, I have a screenshot (a real graphic memory dump from a real N64 cart, US V1.2): Now I'm not the best at reading Japanese (yet ) and the glow effect really does not help (how can you people read these characters so distorted like that?) but as best I can tell it says "ze ru da no ho ?? ?? no o ka ri na". I don't recognize the 2 middle characters (not even with the glow, I just don't see anything with that shape ) but my best guess is they're some sort of Kanji meaning 'time', that or I just need more practice. So it's "Ocarina of [something] of Zelda", in other words, just the game's title. (Poo, I was hoping it would say something cool like "insert disk". ) Also, the 'triforce under the courtyard' thing is basically just another one of those rumours... All you're really seeing is the one on Link's hand. Also I always found those ones for Pok |

Hmm... I'm actually having another, very odd problem with this game. The Shell Smash minigame has a tendency not to save my scores! At one point, the highest score was something like 48000, and I got 55000, it registered and all that and showed the new score on the list afterward. But next time I started it up, there was no trace of it, it was back to 48000! It worked fine when I got 53000 later, and that's still the highest score even though just a few days ago I got 64000. Nothing else in the game has had this sort of saving problem, and all non-first-place scores seem to save just fine. What's up with that?

I've actually had that sort of thing happen too; it would slow down when CPU usage was only at like 65%. I figure it's probably just Windows being buggy and lagging for some reason, or something waiting for some device to catch up. (I really doubt it's the HD, 7200 RPM it's frickin fast!) A lot of the time page file usage is especially high too, so that probably means there's not a lot of RAM left. It could be a heat problem, even; some CPUs will slow themselves down if they start to overheat. (It's not actually built into the CPU, mostly a feature of the BIOS or motherboard.) AFAIK the System Properties actually reports a lower CPU speed when this happens. Not all systems do this though, some just reboot or shut down when they reach a certain temperature. (Mine waited until the IDE cables were just starting to melt... I didn't think anything of it until the BIOS screen came up, since I had WinME. )

I don't see what's so useless about that... It avoids the need to have all the PS windows scattered about mixed in with other windows, and helps keep speed up and memory usage down by not having to redraw anything but a solid patch of gray below them. Also, lol @ the thread title. Maybe we should get back on topic here? (edited by HyperHacker on 02-16-05 06:52 PM) |

Thanks, that's the one I was looking for. 7E1DF9 - 7E1DFC. I can't really think of a sound effect I could use in its place, but what the hell, it's not necessary. A 'screeching' sound would be kinda nice though, like in SMB3 when you change directions quickly. Anything like that in there?

You say now that you wouldn't mind some bugs, but I bet you'd change your tune if it killed your ROM.Originally posted by peter_ac Jeez, how many times has this been asked? Importing music is for all intents and purposes impossible due to the SPC-700's and the engine's limitations. Under certain circumstances, importing a really simple MIDI might be possible, but it would be way difficult and probably sound like crap, and the SMW engine would pretty much have to be replaced. |

It looks better without the border, but Mario sucks either way. Originally posted by Keikonium The easiest way would be to use some tricky subscreen manipuation. IIRC, the box won't appear until that subscreen is shown. (If not that, then make it a vertical level. )
I really, really doubt it. I'm not even sure how YI did it.
I know one of the options, I think that one, doesn't work in the release version. It seems to be setting the wrong bit, but I can't figure out why.
ASM would be the only thing I can think of (and if so it sounds like someone's been making a lot of progress on editing sprites without telling anyone), unless they used some sort of trick... Is it possible the 'bug' is just a custom block on a cleverly-placed moving layer 2?
Hasn't anyone found the routine that does this stinkin' fade effect? It'd probably be easy to hack it to fade all the colours, or not fade at all, or whatever if I knew where the heck it was. |

The shoe does look fake, but I believe it. What would be the point of faking it? Everyone'll find out whether it's real or not eventually. Though if he did use Yoshi, I hope he did something about the fact that Yoshi can walk, whereas a giant boot can't. Anyway... 1) Er, nice tail. I know you said you can't fix that yet, so ignoring it... The leaf has a brown spot of some sort. 2) Same thing. Did you change the status bar font? It looks a bit different, but it's probably just the compression. 3) The poles look odd, and why is the shoe halfway into the ground? The platforms look cool though. Also, "Super Mario 3 II" sounds really crappy. 4) Again with the poles. The bushes and blocks also look odd. I love how you made the end look like SMB3. 5) Cool, pretty cloudy though. 6) Oooh, SMB3... What's with the off-colour flying blocks? 7) Same pole and blue block problems. Looks like fun though. Nice Goomba. 8) ...Does that chain chomp really work? The level looks cool, but the blocks' palettes are really odd. 9) Again with the poles and blocks. The Goombas' faces look warped, especially the one on the right. It'd also look a little better if their colours were slightly closer to the flying Goomba's. 10) Besides the poles, this looks great. If all that other stuff below is supposed to be images, they don't work. |
