Just changing Mario's path won't change the events. You have to change them yourself by using the 8x8 event editor. (Press home, end, page up and page down to choose which event to show) (edited by Smallhacker on 08-19-04 05:24 AM) |

Very interesting sprite hacks. May I ask how you made them? Did you use ASM or did you just change a random byte until it worked? By the way... The levels are nice done, but waaaaay too hard. |

Uh... Maximum amount of levels and exits? 1: Avoid levels that are almost identical. Nobody would like to play the same level 255 times. 2: Make an ASM hack to allow the title screen counter to go above 96. 3: Make sure that anyone would like to play through that amount of levels. |

A really, REALLY nice program! It took me some time (one minute) to figure out that you couldn't put stuff below the end of the original level, but when I did, I started messing around with it (like making a small hack with glitched graphics where the goal is in the beginning of the level and there's a hole below it, and a hole at the edge of the screen. When you enter the goal, Mario falls down one hole and Yoshi falls down another one. Lame? Yes. Fun? Yes. ). Maybe I should make a YI hack containing the SMB1 levels? Remember to make sure that it allows editing the Mode7 part of the title screen by typing "Chelsea". |

Thank you, all. I thought that the best comments would be like "I laughed for one second and then I deleted the ROM!". Appearently, I was wrong. Someguy: Sure. Go ahead. By the way... I accually made a sequel, Smallhacker's Island 2, but it's not even funny. The only change is a new tutoriual level and one level (named "0-0: Crash the game, plz.") where I've got a few random sprites that crashes the emulator. No, I won't release it. :/ Anyway... I'm thinking about starting a new, serious YI hack, but probably not unless I can find a tool that extracts/imports the compressed graphics of the ROM. |

Super Mario Brothers (NES). I visited my friend every day and we played it. The first game I ever played that I owned was... Super Mario Brothers (SNES), 6 or 7 years later when I bought a SNES and SMAS. Accually, until I played to the first mushroom in 1-1, I had no idea that it was the same game. Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but... I think that EV (EggVine) needs a better "Add stuff" box: 1) Only one type of things (Objects, Special objects, Sprites) should be shown at a time with three handy buttons at the bottom to choose which one to view. 2) It should only show the object name in the box and show the descriptions in a tooltip. 3) There should be an option to show the objects in categories, like "Grounds", "Slopes", "Pipes", "Background", "Platforms", "Unknown" and so on. If you add these three things, EV would be much easier to use and the time it takes to make a level would be reduced. Also, I noticed a bug. When you resize the objects by grabbing onto the right/bottom edges and moving, you can't make it go outside the level, right? However, if you grab the bottom right corner and moves the mouse, you are able to make it go outside the level, which can cause... ...bad results. That's all for now. |
