a little while ago some of my own personal tomfoolery with gnu/linux somehow left me with a large amount of freespace on my harddrive.. in fact... it left me with an entire blank harddrive. needless to say there was much punching, kicking, drinking, and cursing that followed. the most difficult loss? my music collection; it was truly a beautiful, organic creation. my playlists read like poetry but anyway, to get to the point: i was working on rebuiling my music empire and was getting a few readiohead cd's (cd's that i of course own, but have long since lost) when i stumbled upon a torrent of The String Quartet Tribute to Radiohead, Tool, A Perfect Circle, (unfortunatly) Coldplay, and a Best Of set of tracks. now, i've always been a sucker for well coordinated strings... but this collection was really something else! it's just fantastic and i can't explain how excited i am that i've stumbled upon this catagory of popular quartet covered music. Some of the APC tracks are simply amazing, and hearing most of the radiohead songs put to strings is equally excellent. anyone else have a listen to a few of these? and why do i feel like such a jackass for only finding these now . i'm getting a few more quartet tracks, such as a few from the Requiem for a Dream sountrack as performed by the Kronos Quartet. |

So I decided that it was high time I started working on a small fun project in between my large personal web project and another project i was doing for actual pay.. I decided yesterday that I should get into making FireFox extensions, and i'm soo close to completing my first one, a simple navigational extension that someone recommended i make in irc when i couldn't think of anything original myself. basically it runs off of the left and right mouse buttons, holding both buttons at the same time jumps either forward or backward, and which direction is dictated by which mouse button was pressed first. pressing left first, then the right mouse button navigates forward, and the reverse is true for pressing right first. i think it was said that this is a feature from Opera? I don't use opera, so i wouldn't know. anyway, to get to the point of the post: what i'm really looking for is a way to selectively disable the right-click menu. the rest of the extension works great..except when you release the right-click button and the menu pops up. it makes the whole thing suck total balls. and i'm not talking your grandma's "alert('right-click is disabled!')" javascript, hopefully something a little more sophisticated and discrete . After all, the point is to make it a natural, uninterrupted process that doesn't suck balls. alert isn't called for in such a delicate situation. anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. |

The roachfiend extensions article is what i used to learn about firefox extension, and i was very suprised to find out incredibly easy they are to make. Until two weeks ago i had never used javascript and just found the roachfiend article a few days ago... just to give you an idea how low the learning curve is. also, as to answer my first quetsion, i found the solution:
also, i decided to make a quick Wikipedia extension because at around 6:00 AM-ish Dan recommended it to me.. Atma recommended the first extension, which i've come to find has already been implimented a few other times. That doesn't change much, however, as these were mainly to be for learning purposes. the extensinos are here: rocker navigation quick wikie search if anyone tries them out and has any bug reporst, concerns, improvements, comments.. well, it would be appreciated! thanks again to Atma and Dan for the ideas, because i suck at being original. |

i vote for myself because, to put it bluntly, i'm better than you. yes, whoever is currently reading this, sitting there staring at your computer screen... i'm better than you. There are really no two ways about it, and i hate to just throw it out there like that, but the truth must be told. that is all. vote for me. |

time has further eroded the meanings of the original writings, as i was watching some scholars on the history channel suggest that the entire apocolypse as refered to in the bibe was allagory for empires and figures of the time. apparently speaking out against the religion and figures of the time it was written would end in banishment or some such (which basically results in death), so words and terms were used which would have meaning, however deep and difficult to decipher, to those of the time. sorry for the lack of specifics, i'm too lazy to find anything to support my statements at 4:23 AM, but if anyone would like, i'll search around for articles (or hopefully even a trasncription of the episode, which was rather fascinating) that make statements similar to what i said above. in basic terms, i think it comes down to something similar to, "everything in moderation, except heroin", "don't let blind faith be an excuse for idiocy", and "if your keys drop in a volcano, just let them go man, 'cause they're gone". |

hey wait... these were intersting.. congrats, they're not bad. of course they lack a certain essential element in anything that ascends from "okay-ness" to "greatness". and that element is me. (yah, sometimes even i suprise myself at how arrogant in can be.) |

not to mention that it would make strings of numbers that don't require commas innacurate, if i understand what you propose as dan suggests. personally i think it would do more harm than good.

it really is a tough call, but i think i will also have to go with DK2. I liked the 3rd least of all, but for the DK series that's not saying much. They were all really fantastic. oh yah, <3 underwater music from DKC1 |

i once ate a kitten. the trick is to boil them a little bit before you skin them, it makes the whole process easier. oh, and then after that, you should probably kill the thing; the prospect of cutting a very wet cat with a knife isn't one i'd like to think of. i could get scratched on the arm |

oh okay, i understand what you mean now. for whatever reason i took what you said to mean a blanket number formatting function that would cover all numbers. and yah.. in the case of the views, i guess it wouldn't hurt, in the least.
