well then i suppose you have a problem within the community itself? because only tools would rip other people's graphics and claim them as their own.

besides that, anyone can rip your graphics regardless of what "protections" you put on. anyone with half a brain and the ability to either run a command line program or write their own.

actually yes, i'm incredibly jealous . but, on the other hand, my last cell phone didn't even have color, so i'm fine with what i have.

and further more, i've had a few more beers:

No Gavin, as i said, i don't care if they claim as their own. It just the fact that they would use it in their hack, making mine not original anymore.

If someone uses my GFX i should be happy that people liked it enough to want it in their game.

yes exactly, as i''ve stated anyone with half a brain (probably less, depending on which half of the brain is knocked out) can take your graphics anyway. So, since all gaphics are accesible by all people, i will once again bring up the point that it would be only a flaw in the sub-community itself: you have trash among you that would actually steal graphics without asking to use in a hack of their own.

and then i ask myself, well how many times has this actually hapened? Knuck, how many times have people stolen gaphics from you. Or to anyone else, how many times have graphics actually been stolen. Graphing the amount of hacks produced vs. the amount of graphics stolen per hack would give an accurate model of how pertinant serious a problem it is. for whatever reason i doubt it is actually a real problem and rather you are all just unjustly paranoid. and ironically at that, considering your sole puprose (and mine, because i romhack) is modifying other's work without permission.

because the board already waste's DB space, appx 35 fields or whathaveyou, on the user table.

it would only take 1 extra field, set bits in an integer for each forum's status. 1=show, 0=don't show. 1111101 <== show general, skip newbie, show officers, show debate, et cetera....

personally i wouldn't use it, but it's no more silly than half the other things that have made their way into the board system.

the only other usefull addition to a phone i could see would be mp3's. I would definetly use it, as I don't have the funds for both a phone and high-storage capacity mp3 device.

i have about 11 gigs of music currently, fitting even 1/4 of that on my phone would be pretty awesome. i don't really need any other bells and whistles. i'd trade a camera for music

still though, like i was saying, my old phone was hardly up to par with anything made..er...ever, so as far as i'm concerned 'color' is a bell and/or whistle

not that you owuld know how to use them or anything, but what features specifically would you be looking for? anything beyond a basic log of system status during emulation would already be above and beyond what is needed in the ways of a tracer. maybe you just aren't good with it.

and actually one of my wishes is to see Jathy's Harvest Moon editor come to completion . beyond that, seeing Temporal Flux in working order is already one wish come true... i can't think of too much else

ahh, good call. I've always been interested in seeing the addition of a conditional breakpoint feature, but for excluding specific addresses of code, or when registers contain certain values.

FF3j: yah...er...hmm... you know, way back, many many moons ago, i had this silly idea that i was actually going to complete that FF3j map editor of mine. what a silly little lad i was

you're god damn right, after a few attempts and much mucking around, i finally got the NES i ordered for myself for Christmas working!

The problem was, as suspected, the 72-pin connector piece. I had tried previously two other times to bend them back in place, but no dice. This time i took extra special care to line up the pins with the connector bands and to my enjoyment it worked

the only other problem i had yet to fix was the controller... now, the controller i ordered online ended up not working at all in any way, so i decided to use my old SNES controller with the broken L and R buttons.

i got a few NES and SNES controller port schematics and matched up the wires and pulled out my trusty soldering iron (also ordered as part of my christmas gift to myself)

although incredibly hackish and looking disgusting, it all functions perfectly

now all i need to do is modify the controller port to so the connection doesn't break if i pull on the controller a bit, just to be safe. After that in the near future i'll probably get around to making/modifying a real NES controller port so i can disconnect the controller. I only hardwired it together temporarily because i'm very impatient

all in all it was fun finally getting everything in order

and now, the obligatory glass of celebratory wine:

the earlier years of my life were filled with darkness and an overwhelming feeling of loss...

you see, my mother sold our NES when i was but a child. i still get nightmares about it . I haven't owned an NES or played a real working version in probably over 10 years. This is a very glorious moment in my life

not quite so my friend: playstation hacking has been around for a bit of while actually. Check out the romhacking.com forums, specifically a lot of |Pixel|'s work has been pretty awesome in the ways of PSX. PSX hacking itself goes a way back in the form of the ToP PSX translation by Cless by a few years too, as far as my knowledge is concerned

A blue screen? Sounds like the Microsoft Vir-- [shot]

ahem. Anyway, I've never heard of an NES giving only one color. I've only had the multple blinking thing, but does it show blue even when there's no cartrige/different ones in the slot? If so, then it's likely a problem with the connector...

i've had solid colors on a few ocassions.

basically in most/all cases of blinking and flashing screens of most varieties the 72-pin connector is at fault

you can either replace or re-bend the pins, either way getting access to the hardware is extremely simple.

i forgot, back in October i was going to make a post about this (when i first found the program) but...

A full SNES debugger and tracer (65816, SPC, RAM, PPU) has been out for a few months

silly me, it just slipped my mind to make the post

In my opinion Super Sleuth is at least a fine start. It's not the end all be all of debuggers, but it's at least a step up from just strait tracing until it either improves or someone comes up with something better.
