| Hello! Paraplayer here. I know a little flash actionscript and VERY basic HTML. in actionscript i know how variables, arrays and such work (which is the lifeblood of programming i'm guessing). I've been wanting to learn a real programming language for awhile now, not that actionscripting isn't... its just to limited. Anyways i probably won't be the most active member but maybe i'll meet some nice people and learn something. (By the way... Blame smallhacker! he showed me this board!) | What program language should i start with and how do i start with it. Also what programming languages are the most flexible. I know the VERY basics of programming through flash actionscripting but i wanna learn something i can use. most importantly. how much will it cost me  (Note: I've already tried Python. Didn't like it) I AM new to this so try and be nice!  |

| Thanks for the help! Actually i think i've made a script with VB before. I made one of those irratating things where alerts keep popping up except i took it to the next level and made the CD-ROM drive pop out repeatedly. Heh most annoying thing ever. have any good links for starting out in VB6? by the way... API is application to Person Interactivity right? | My mind has been wandering lately and i've been thinking about this. when you flip a coin it isn't random. There are factors in the toss that change the outcome. Its rotation. when it was flipped. The way it lands. If you gather all the factors then you can predict excactly how the coin will land. But then i thought "What about computers? They can produce completely random numbers!" But turns out thats not quite. Most of you being smart computer hackers already know that a random number comes from a complex "Seed" thing. So.... What if this applies to the brain? You're probably thinking right now "But i can think of a random number! 56!" But is that number really random? I don't think so. Everything contributes to your decision of saying that number, memories, feelings heck who knows. So lets say something else. Lets say that the whole earth and the universe was created again. Time started all over again. Would we develop are civilization all over again the same way? Would we make the same decisions? Doesn't that mean we don't really make decisions but we're just purely logical machines doing what we were "Programmed" to do. Anyways ponder that for a bit. Correcrt me if i said anything that was incorrect. |

| The compiler is what you type your scripts into right? also whats openGL... i've heard some say it's very frustrating. (Thank you for all the help so far guys this is really helpful!) |

| yay something not depressing! What keeps me optimistic is the fact that i can have good relations over the internet. For instance my alaskan friend i've known for a few years and we're still good friends. Then there's my family and friends. I'm just used to looking at the good things. I also take pride that everyone at school comes to be when they have a problem. yay happy happy things! |
