At least post screenshots or something. You won't get anybody to help you this way. If you don't post screenshots or at least some information (story... what you have changed... whatever), I will have to stick this thread in the trash can.

@Bio, what exactly do you mean by "YI ASM", and how would you need assembler knowledge for beta testing?

You don't have people betatest for you if all you have is one single blocky level.
Betatesting is meant to be done short before release, and I doubt you will release a one-level hack.

Oh well, my pet trash can is craving for food again.

I can.

You spam.
You are being lame (for instance, by replying "You fail it" with "No you fail it").
You are an attention whore.
You are argueing about things you have no idea about.
You post threads like this one.
You think everything has to be your way.

Also, this is not the right place for a thread like this. The trash can is.

Not exactly ROM hacking, but still hacking and a project of mine.

Basically, I am making a map editor for Ragnarok Online, based off the graphics engine of RagCam.

Wow, I'd never thought SMW hacking would go this far. Before you know it, we'll be dealing with Mode 7 effects. Just how extreme can the wavy effects get? Is stuff like the lava effect the limit, or can you go as far as the fuzzy effect from Yoshi's Island (even if it's just an illusion)?

Mode 7 is an entirely different business than HDMA. Whilst the latter can be added in an easy to every persistent game, the first is an entirely different graphics mode, which means
- Different graphics data format.
- No multilayering.
- Limited sprite count on screen.
- Different control registers.

Also, the knowledge required for using these effects was there for quite a while already... just look at BMF's SMO demo 2 (wavey background effect) or some screenshots of SMW:ALttP I posted aeons back (Status bar (almost, as the message box is the same layer) and really busted old BG gradients). It was just that all of us were too lazy to make something really spectacular like these out of it.

Great work, d4s . I hope this will bring the SMW hacking community back from its half-dead state at last...

@Smallhacker, if it all, it would look like
Channel 3: WriteTo (L2HorizontalShift)
begin
69: X-14
71: X+15
204: X-14
end

Channel 4: WriteTo (FixedAdditionColor)
begin
0: 0
50: 123123
end

As far as I know, channels 3 and 4 are the only entirely unused (H)DMA channels in SMW... and for changing palette colours, you need both of them in most cases (one for working the CGRAM address register and one for the colour IO register). If you turn your effects off in situations where the channel is used by SMW though (like the level ending fadeout), you might come to use a few more.
Besides that, learn assembler at last. It is and always will be the better choice against scripting.

Yep... I remember how I was drawing levels for Yoshi's Island back when I was 7, and intended to send them in to Nintendo to be used in a sequel

What actually turns out good often is drawing your own graphics on paper (presuming you have a scanner). I am making use of that for my current hack a lot.

Note the background in here:

Hello out there.

I am glad to be able to announce I cleaned up most of the crashes, bugs and handling twinks from Solar Soundtrack, so the release shouldn't be so far away anymore.

There also are screenshots.

Both of them are showing the editor as it displays the Ending theme from SMB3.

For detailed info about what Solar Soundtrack is and what it does, use the board search function below in my post layout.

So long,
~blackhole89.

No, it uses a weird derivate (prototype? for SMW was the first game released for the SNES) which both I and Bouche were trying to make usable, and both ended up with only insufficient results.

A while back I found the SMW SPC data (pointers are at $730DA) and experimented with it to find some of the command equivelants. Here they are, the SMW ones first, N-SPC ones second:
DA=E0= Instrument
DB=E1= Pan
DC=E2= Pan Sweep
DD=F9= Pitch Slide
E1=E6= Global Volume Ramp
E2=E7= Speed
E3=E8= Speed Ramp
E9=EF= Call Loop
F0=FA= ????? found at start of most tracks

I know this isn't much, but with it I was able to port the Keyhole and P-Switch tracks from SMW to the SMAS music hack.

Anyway, a question for blackhole89. If I already edited the SPC data using a hex editor, will Solar Soundtrack be able to recognize it?

Edit: Why should you believe me? I'll let the evidence speak.

Keyhole
P-Switch

Whoa.
*bows down in appreciation*
This little list is going to be VERY useful. *starts coding an SMW music import filter*

And yeah, I see no reason why your hexed SPCs should not work. (These ones did.) The only thing that is giving it trouble currently is when there are two instrument definition tables lying around (like it is the case in one of Bouche's custom SPCs).

Oookay. Judgement day~ _

The hack: It is not your first. And it sucks. Fucked up graphics, glitches, horrendous level design, like always. No further comment on this.

FEEL THE TITLE AWESOMENESS
Dejá-vu...?
Real NES feeling. <3
(This one is by orynider himself) BOWSER HAS A NEW PLAN FOR WORLD DOMINATION. HE IS GOING TO MAKE MARIO GO SCHIZOPHRENIC BY USING COLOURS OF NEON

"spcedit": Ookay. That's going to be a very long paragraph.

What you basically did was
- taking the source code of a MOD player written in Assembler, which you have so less knowledge about you even did not recognize it as the program's source code and included it in the package, along with a sample .mod file
- replacing all evidencies of ".mod" with ".spc"
- replacing all copyrights with yours

Do you know what that is? That's just lame. Go away, orynider. You won't find people stupid enough to believe you and your lies in here.
tl;dr- Three words.
YOU FAIL IT.

Your older hacks: Since you asked for it so nicely.

I believe this is the same hack though, as the levels are vastly similar.

Someone trash this piece of copyright-stealing, nerve-grinding junk, already. ;;;
