The weird thing about this is that all sprites are affected while on main screen (but, on subtraction, inverted), while on subscreens only the above-mentioned are.

EDIT - Ah yes, the effect is just that the sprites are being subtracted out of themselves.

Why don't simply hardcode it in the board? I mean, checkboxes for each new thread posting and these prefixes automatically being added to the name.

Well, having played it, I must say, the overworld design is incredibly good... especially that

The problem about Yoshi's Island music is that SMW waits for the SPC to output $BBAA, but the Yoshi sounds never do that...

Hi folks,

just a question: How do I link MAP16 tiles to assembly routines, i.e. for custom blocks? Is there something like a pointer table?

GreetZ & thx i.A.

No, that's not what I mean. I couldn't find the pointer table in SMW's SPC dumps, therefore I just made SMW install the same thing Yoshi's I. installed. But it hung due to two source code lines waiting for $BB, then $AA from the SPC. Yoshi's Island's SPC never send that.

If anyone could tell me the location of SMW's pointer table, I'd be very grateful.

I actually could find the ptr tables in SMW dumps which were pretty clearly organized by large pretty unformatted memory holes.Yoshi dumps are to messy to find anything. But ... do you mean it would be easier to take DW3's engine for inserting yoshi music?

EDIT - Besides, I was just following an interesting trace: As you know, the music in LoZ3: ALttP was made by the same artist who did SMW's, namely Koji Kondo. And, as I presumed, LoZ 3 seems to use the same

@MajinBlueDragon: (SMW Sound Engine) Not entirely different, no. Rather an odd offspring. The typical stuff about an N-SPC game is partly still there. Like the 20 CD CF init or the uncompressed data. And, of course, the principle of storing all songs at once in one program on the SPC.

Uh... that's terrible...

First time I tried, the download was 600 Bytes/sec (with an ADSL link!) and disrupted at 95%.
Second time it couldn't even retrieve the header.
Third time I reloaded the page and the "Download" menue point vanished at all. Recalling the URL from cache I got an empty site.

@Gandalf the Grey: Sorry, but yours doesn't work either. Lycos (at least the German one) blocks hotlinking. And there's no reference from your starting page.

Ah yes, you must not make Lycos get anything inside the X-HTTP-Referer header entry. Just make (in IE) right click - save target as...

Too hard? The only hard thing about it was the palace. Anyway - Great work! except for the backgrounds of the outer levels.

Hi folks,

so here it comes... the 1st demo of SMW-ALTTP!
Download -> http://k-schale.50free.net/smw-alttp-d1.ips

I'm still looking for someone to host it 'cause my current provider limits me to 50 megs of traffic per months.

Some screenshots:

The title screen.

A secret area.

Ripped bob-ombs from Yoshi's Island. Didn't actually ever be seen in the game. But they were inside. Uncompressed.

An older overworld shot.

Lunar Fortress.

Note that all levels except for Lunar Fortress are in early beta stage and therefore mostly short and easy.
Please tell me any bugs, suggestions etc.

GreetZ
& have fun,
Blacky.

@Atma X: Just select a song and click on a number before a DSP channel pointer. (those 0-7 buttons on the right, some of them FFFF=empty)

@orynider: Seems that Hyrule Magic has an universal full-featured N-SPC editor... if it only wouldn't check for which ROM you open...

Rounded? Don't know what exactly you mean, but if you mean the screenshots... I use this "Kreed's SuperEagle" filter from ZSNES and SNES9x, and it's also on the screenshots.

The light beams... the bright ones are done with Level mode 0x1F. The dark ones are ASM-hacked.

@Coby: I use SNES9x. But I think the filter is same.
@Escherial: (Bob-ombs) Yes, I should put them 'bit higher.
(grammar) v(u/o)lcanic: My fault. I am in year 8 of a german school. How much of German did you know when you were in year 8?
watch out etc.: Nasty little misprints.
(Levels) I weren't able to do anything against the slow-down point.
And... have you yet been to Lunar Fortress? It is so far the only complete level. Others are quite betaish.

I think it'll be an easy to find out how it works by changing things in Hyrule Magic and look what's changed in the ROM.

The only thing bad are the pointers... they're making me sick...

No, no ASM.

An N-SPC program consists of two parts: a MIDI-like part and an ASM that plays it. HM's command window is perfectly the same as a cheap MIDI editor.
@Atma X: I wrote such a program. Off to school now.
