Posted on 06-03-05 05:30 PM, in YY-CHR Doesn't open GFX fast? Use this patch! Link
(This problem happened on my WinXP.)
When you open GFX or ExGFX extracted by LM on YY-CHR,
you gotta switch the "ROM/disk image" thing to "All files".
I got tired of this stinking problem!
So I hacked the exe file, and I fixed it to make
YY-CHR open Only *.bin files by default!

The problem is, you have to switch the open file setting
when you open other type of files than *.bin.
Well, it's good for ExGFX artists, I thought.

So here's the patch!
http://board.acmlm.org/commons/file.php?id=33

Sorry, but my server doesn't allow direct access to counters.
The link leads to a download page, which leads to my DL counter.
DL will start when you click the link on the DL page..

Edit: Using the "Commons" added in Ver. 1.B.

And, the file is an IPS patch. Patch it to the original YY-CHR to make it work.

--------- + ----------- + ----------
(Edit)
Changed link, and some descriptions.

Posted on 06-04-05 03:28 PM, in I've calculated Mario's height and speed Link
(Summary on the bottom.)
I was hacking SMW, and thought - "How tall is Mario?"
So I decided to calculate Mario's height.

In order to make the data a real unit, I had to find
Mario with next to an actually existing object.
I have found a very good source for this data, which is
Episode 23 from The Adventures Of The Super Mario Bros. 3.
Here is the video page:
http://www.yoshilore.com/The_Adventures_Of_Super_Mario_Brothers3.php
The video is at the bottom and is zipped.

The part is at 6min15sec from the beginning.
Mario is touching the door of the White House, which, actually exists.
In the video, the door's width was 3.5cm.
Mario's height, which I measured his left hand to foot, was 4.4cm.

Now I had to get the actual width of the door of the White House.
I found a picture that has the door and the height of the White House.
http://www.visitingdc.com/s_wh_white_house_address.htm

I also need the height of the White House.
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/history/us/monuments/whitehouse/
It is 70ft.

Now, the door was 9pixels, and the height was 100pixels(including the flag).
100pixels : 9pixels = 70ft : Xft
X = 630/100ft

Remember that in the video the door width was 3.5cm, and mario was 4.4cm tall.
3.5cm : 4.4cm = 630/100 : Xft
X = 7.92

Mario is 7.92ft tall when super!
(In the video he is wearing a frog suit)
That's 2.438meters.

Now, I next calculated Mario's walking speed in Super Mario World.
I made Mario run for 1.3 seconds and made him stop.
Mario walked 5 blocks in 1.3 seconds...
So he walks 3.84615.... blocks in 1 second.

Mario's width is half of his height when super.
7.92ft / 2 = 3.96ft
This also equals the block's width.
3.96ft x 3.84615...per sec
=15.230754

MARIO WALKS 15FEET PER SECOND!!!
(5meters)

Mario runs twice faster than his walking speed.
So....
MARIO RUNS 30 FEET PER SECOND!!!
(9.2meters)
Mario can win the gold metal every time in the Olympics!
(He'll get banned from it if he existed)

Summary :
(+) Mario's height is 7.92 feet, or 2.3meters.
(+) Mario walks 15 feet per second, or 4.6 meters.
(+) Mario runs 30 feet per second, or 9.2 meters.

Phew! That was the end of this thread.
How much it took? About 30 minutes.

Please post Comments (or mistakes)

Posted on 06-05-05 06:21 AM, in "Yoshi Replay" - Graphic hack of Yoshi! Link
My first completed hack!
...because there are only graphical changes,though.( ^ _ ^ ; )

It's a hack of the GBversion of Yoshi.
Here are some screenshots:

The sprites are changed.

"Type" to "Mode", and some BG changes.

You can get this patch on the page below. YoshiReplay(E) is the file.
http://chivmaru.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ikuzou/dl.html
Patch it on an American GB version of Yoshi.
There is also a Japanese version(The one that says J), patch that on a Japanese ROM.

I have to do this because my server doesn't let direct access to my DL counter,
so I have to make the DL page to download.
DL will start when you click the link on the page.

Have fun! And please post comments, suggestions, etc.

How about this:
Remake the block so that it makes the bumping sound when you touch it.
Then, insert the block and make the setting water or 25 or something.
Place the sphere behind the bumping block.
When you test the block it should seem like Mario hit the block and ended the level.

I don't know anything about ASM, but I think it'll work, though.

When it rises floats it is heavy, when it's not it is light.

What is this?

Wow!
That's right, except
There is another answer, the one I was thinking of...

But you're on the right track though, what does the wind make you think of...

I looked at Super Smash Brothers.
I know Pikachu is 40cm tall.
But in the game, MArio is about the size of Pikachu, which makes 8ft wrong...

Plus Mario's half as tall as the door of the white house, which makes the door 16feet...

Gotta find a better source.

I made my 28th post today, and I looked at my profile and saw a rank not on the "Ranks".
It is called "Double Hammer". The picture of it is not shown.
I don't have 2000 posts, I'm not an administrator, so I can't have a custom rank.
Plus there is no rank for 28 posts.

Please check, or tell me if I have made a mistake.

(Edit)
Also 29. It's still there after this post.

My explanation was bad, maybe.
Instead of "rises", let's make it "floats".
I'll edit.

A plane with a bomb was flying in the air. Everything on it worked perfectly fine.
The pilot has reached the target.
Then the pilot opened the bomb door. The bomb was released...
But it did not fall!
Why could this be?

Super Mario RPG changed my life.

I was sick and I played it for 6 hours and beat the whole game.
Without eating or stopping.
My eyes got blurred for the first time in my life,
I checked my vision it went down by 0.2.

Also, I cleared the game witout any badges, hammers etc.
I beat the smithy thing too.

Uh... Am I stupid not bold?

One day, a man was looking through the 10th floor of the office during work.
Suddenly, the man went crazy.
He opened the window, then jumped through the window.
The 10th floor of this office is 80 yards from the ground, but yet, he didn't get hurt.
The man did not use any special equipment such as a parachute or jet rockets,
He even didn't land on any special (soft) thing.
How could this be?

Posted on 06-11-05 08:26 PM, in Solving Switches Link

There is a room that is like this.
The vertical line in the middle is the wall.
Each switch works for one light bulb, and no switches work on the same light bulb.
All the switches are off at first, and you are at where the stick figure is.

And here is the question!
You have to figure out which switch works on which light bulb.
But, you can only go into the bulb room only ONCE.
The only way you can check the light bulbs are to go into the room.
(So it's not transparent, you can't break the wall)

Now, how would you solve this?

Summary:
(+) You are at where the stick figure is
(+) Each switch work only on one light bulb, no 2 work on the same one
(+) The only way to check the light bulbs is to go to the bulb room
(+) The room is accesible only once

To cool the room. Some simple ACs just have a fan, which cools the room.

Also, most electric ACs take too much electricity when I heat the room!

In Japan, we need to fight with the humidity and the temp at the same time in summer.
