The current consensus over here is that Canabis will lead to psycological disorders if you are already vulnerable to it.
It does make sense. The effects of pot can have a huge impact of the body to first time users, and for people that are already fragile, it can break them.
That's why some people can smoke it day in, day out without any side effects at all. The reason the drug can be so dangerous is because people do turn to smoking, drinking and drugs during hard times.
For someone who's already been through a punnishing period, drugs can be tempting, and yet they may just be the worst thing that could ever happen to them.

That is how canabis is being defined as dangerous in the media at the moment.

Bleaching is a very common thing to do. It is present in many dyes on the high street, and it's not the kinda of stuff you get in a bottle to go in the bathroom.

My firend has dirty blonde hair, and he likes to bleach it so it's near white. He leaves his hair dye in my two hours, and I wouldn't be suprised if he went bald. However, it's not something you should be afraid of doing, millions of people do it every day and it's a regular procedure.

TROGDOR THE BURNINATOR!!!!

"Man, looks like it's been eaten by some kind of... linux..."

Homestar Runner is so incredibly funny. It's funny because it's subtle. RvB couldn't be more obvious if it tried. It's the little things that make it count, if you aren't prepared to pay attention to the details, you won't find it funny

I've never had any of the problems that have been mentioned with Firefox. The browser is a joy to use and makes surfing a whole lot easier in many ways.

I'll have to back up Acmlm on this one, he really hit the nail on the head. Many webmasters who run Acmlmboards on their servers like the system because it's so much easier to maintain and mod than the other free PHP / MySQL offerings. It's not bogged down with every feature imaginable like the other ones. It's just got the ones that count.

Even though you only see the HTML outputted, just because it looks sloppy it doesn't mean that it's not efficient.
We've already demonstrated that it shrinks the fiile sizes by approximately a third (looking at the difference in line length), and seeing as it works in Firefox, IE and Opera 99.999999% of the time, you couldn't possibly have a good reason to complain about this.
Unless you're hardcore and use text based browsers, that is

I agree that the W3C standards for XHTML are in the best interests for a formal website that would need to be read in mulitple browsers, but let's face it: Out of all the billions of pages of HTML code that makes up the internet, how many are written to a high standard? THAT is the reason why the big three browsers are so forgiving. You simply wouldn't be able to surf without tripping up over problematic pages.

I shut mine off after every period of using it. I can't sleep with it on because it's simply too loud (PSU and two cooling fans + original Athlon + 3 years old = lots of air attempting to escape) to sleep next to.
Also, as many people will testafy to, running XP along with WindowBlinds, occasionally Adobe Photoshop and a few other programs that may/may not memory leak, you simply cannot keep a seasoned installation of XP going for more than a few days anyway (although it is possible IF you keep the programs you instal down to a complete minimum).

Posted on 02-03-05 04:06 PM, in Webhosting / MySQL Link
I am currently looking for a new host because my old one is simply choked with the number of things I'm attempting to do with it.
As it is, I'm running several PHP scripts that all access a MySQL database that include my blog, my anime society's website, an Acmlmboard for said society and a few smaller things.
The current host I'm using only provides me with one MySQL database, so all of these scripts are using the same database and the only thing that is stopping them from mixing together is the table names.

So, I'm looking for another host to spread out to. The one I'm looking at is this one:
FastHosts
It advertises a "150 MB MySQL database".
Does this mean that I can set up as many databases as I like providing I keep to the restrictions? I'm not planning anything major, so the database will not exceed this amount. The only thing that is important is that I can keep the scripts running as independently of each other as I can, which requires more than one database.
Also, I don't want to be ripped off. There are some good reviews floating around for this host, but the names on the websites of magazines recommending them and such havn't been fully documented, so I can't check them out.

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for really good hosts that can offer something similar, I'd be grateful. I'm not looking at any specific price range. Personal recommendation counts the most when it comes to this stuff

Posted on 02-03-05 04:14 PM, in Photoshop Elements Link
I've been using a copy of Photoshop 5.5 and 7 for a while, and I'm considering coming clean and purchasing Photoshop Elements. My copy is in a grey area, and was handed to me by a friend who it was given to by a college when she undertook a course on the program. It's not cracked in any way.

I would consider running elements if it has most of the same features as Photoshop that I use:

Layers
Brushes
Hue / Saturation
Colourise
Level adjusting
etc...

Put simply I use a fair bit of the features of Photoshop, but I don't want to pay the extortionate and unjustified amount for a new copy. Has anyone ever used PE?

It could very easily be Antartica. Think about it, it's underneath what is to be presumed Africa, and Antartica is not as far as South America away from Africa.

Also, the the positioning of the continent is where he could've sailed from - from the southern cape of Africa.

Also, he's marked great mountain ranges in other continents, the Himalya particularly, but the Andes do not appear anywhere on this continent.

Besides, I don't think anybody will ever celebrate anyone else finding America any earlier than Columbus. He wasn't the first person on the continent, as he found out when he got there. There were civilisations there long before Columbus.

*sighs*
Even when you spend a bit, hosting packages are few and far between when it comes to MySQL and PHP.

I had to get paid hosting when I set up an Acmlmboard, and for the most part, I never had any trouble with it from there.

You're seriously kidding yourself if you want a free host that offers MySQL, PHP and decent bandwith.

If you're willing to spend just a little bit a year, your options flood open. Seriously.

Meh, I'm not going to re-ittereate everything I said in the past.

Laws in various countries are simply changing to give people rights that they previously didn't have. There are going to be homosexual relationships anyway, and where the people concerned are going to live as a couple, they deserve the same rights as all other married couples. The current laws are not inclusive and they need to be updated.

Try to see the human side of this. We're not trying to hijack a country, I simply want a marriage between me and my girlfriend to be recognised by the state. This would include such things as having rights in my girlfriend's last will. She would want me to organise everything, but currently there is no law in place to stop her family hijacking proceedings. I can garuntee you that her family would not invite me to the funeral and that she would not want her family to intervene like this.
So where is your philosophy going to get us? What will it do for us? I'm afraid your ideals will only stop me from having the rights that every other couple is enjoying.

If you don't like that. Try this on for size.

At this moment, I am legally male and a marriage between me and my girlfriend will be legally, and religiously binding.
In two years I will be legally female and if I were to marry her, all our rights will be confiscated. What right does a government does a government have to confiscate rights? I'm sorry but the whole situation is so fucked up. We had an act going through government to give homosexual people rights in relationships, and the law failed to pass because the upperclass lords tried to alter the act so it would be possible to avoid inheritance tax - which a thorn in the upperclasses' side.

I'm sorry, but I won't argue with you. You have no right to decide which rights are appropriate for me, and we will fight on with no regard for all the mediocre "arguements" you present.
I have a human right to marry my girlfriend, and the laws are changing everywhere across the western world. Like it or not, but in a politically correct world there is no way to avoid this. It will happen eventually and your arguements will count for nothing.

Don't even bother replying to this. I don't give a shit what you have to say as long as you are able to take your love for your wife and I am not. For once in your life think about how people like us are affected.

I don't have to break the religious rights of anybody. There are gay clergy in this country who couldn't be happier to marry two men or two women, if their hands weren't tied by the red tape of the government or the prejudice of the ignoarant few.

I would never dream of asking a man to go against his beliefs, I would rather have someone who is comfortable with our relationship marry us than ask a person to do that.

From the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.

(1) Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.
(2) Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.
(3) The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.

These two human rights define that adults have the right to marry, and that everyone has equal rights under the law. Currently the law is discriminatory against a minority. I know you've shown that this minority is small, but does that give you a valid reason to ignore them?
