Complete my degree, get a well paid job, get a fast car, a nice house, buy lots of funky clothes. |
I think the only thing that really matters, though, is to finally marry my girlfriend one day (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 07-07-04 06:36 PM)

Thank you, everyone |
I still have to get the sketchpad I did it on back from Chad's house. I didn't get the oppertunity to get a high res save from the scan Once I get hold of it again, I'll CG it The CGed catgirl almost went in the bin... It's not the best in my book, it was the only good one I had at the time. It also had things in it I wanted to try, and no complex clothing. The lines are a bit shakey, but only because I'm not used to having to draw clean, neat lines consistantly with a mouse in Photoshop. Hopefully the sketch CG will come along a little better, having now accumulated more experience. I'm not sure about the masculine look in her face... I've had a lot of trouble trying to bring the age of my drawings up a little. I tend to go for big heads and big eyes which makes my drawings look very young. Perhaps a little masculine influence has crept in to help make her look more mature (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 07-07-04 08:15 PM)

Please don't make threads for birthdays. We have a birthday almost every single day, so we wouldn't be able to cope with one every day. We usually only have threads for the oldbies, and to be honest, it's only this year that I've had a birthday thread made for me, in my third year here. |
If a thread hasn't been made already, just PM the user is the rule of thumb *closes* (restricted) |

To say that he is not human would be to deny the fact that humans have the capacity to be insanely evil. |
He would be a perfect example of a person that we'd want to forget, but if we do forget, then history will be doomed to repeat itself.

Homestar Runner, Weebl's stuff, Happy Tree Friends, Rejected, The Demented Flash Movie, Arfenhouse are all highly recommended |
(I would like to add that Rejected is of a much higher quality and achievement, and it's a hysterical laugh and you should see it ) (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 07-09-04 08:05 PM)

The PSP has upset many developers, recently. The factory price of the display that is used in the PSP is $350. This obviously indicates that the PSP will either be prohibitively expensive, or will feature a lower caliber display, as has been indicated by sources from around the development of the PSP. |
Sony still won't confirm battery performance to developers either. The only information that has been released is that the movie industry has stated that two and a half hours is a minimum for movie playback. Looking at this, the UMD drive will be working constantly, and the CPU will be working hard to crunch the numbers required for decoding media. Depending on the amount of information that is loaded, and how often, the battery life can improve or decline. This seems to be the big trade off with the impressive new screen and the new media. One other thing that developers are frustrated with is the quality of the games. The PSP games on show were far more complex than the DS games, indeed, it's like comparing and N64 game to a PS2. But this is seen as the PSP's weakness. Developing games for the DS is going to be much simpler and more affordable than developing for the PSP. The handheld market is still far too small for developers to risk making a game that requires a development team of the same size as a home format on a mobile game. In the wake of E3, developers are favouring Nintendo's applied science to Sony's great experiment. They feel that Nintendo's DS is far more advanced than Sony's PSP because of the tried and trusted hardware, and simple development process.

Uh, buy them? There's a lot of anime available on release in the US and Canada, and you should take advantage of it. |
There are people who would kill for anime that has been liscenced in North America to be released over here. You're very lucky to have that advantage. (edited by Kasumi-Astra on 07-11-04 06:37 PM)

I was watching a Discovery Channel program this afternoon about the effects of an operation to cure epilepsy... It envolves removing an area of the brain that sits directly between the two lobes of the brain. |
The operation completely erradicated any seisures from the patients, but some extremely disturbing side effects began to become apparent after the patients recovered. The patients had decreased control over their left hands. This isn't particularly strange until you see that the patient's left hands are erratic, uncontrolable, and disturbingly sentient at times. In experients done on hidden camera, a patient was asked to answer a yes/no question and answer it by pointing to "yes" or "no" written on a board. The hands contradicted each other. One would point to yes, and the other would point to no. If the patient tried harder to point out "yes", the other hand would forcibly move the hand to point to no, totally unintentionally. This amazing phenomenon is caused by the two lobes of the brain not being able to communicate with each other, as the area of brain removed is an "information super highway" of signals between the two lobes of the brain. Doctors think that because the brain is asymetrical in function, each lobe is more dominant in certain functions than the other. The left lobe is unable to manifest itself in the concious and unable to express itself, yet it is still alive, it can only act in ways such as the independent operation of the left arm. The left lobe of the brain, it would seem, is harbouring a seperate and independent indentity- another personality. I find this really, really creepy... Not large spider or scorpion creepy, but genunine, heeby-jeebies, soul troubling frightening. The independent personality is thought to manifest itself in a normally functioning brain through partial subconcious actions. I definately know that at times that I've caught myself doing strange things when I switch off, and I know that there's more than one side to my thinking and my behaviour. This is what makes it so scary... That such a frightening thing can happen to the fragile sense of self, yet you can feel the presence of both the brain and the mind's structure in normal waking life. I really find anything to do with the mind and personality really disturbing. It's scary that my sense of self, my soul, is so fragile, that it is finite and by no means certain. Any thoughts on this bizarre phenomnenon, or anything else that is really, really creepy?

The hand has a sinister life of it's own... The actions can get quite violent, and yes, the hand of one patient has actually tried to suffocate them once. |
The stranger side to this is that patients prefer this existence to the painful fits experienced with epilepsy

I have a dome tent, but I've only ever used it to camp out in the back garden. I've been camping on campsites a couple of times, usually with my school. |
For camping, I've got an inflatable air bed to keep me comfortable. It makes it a lot easier to sleep, yet it's not taking the experience away altogether. Oh, and my dome tent is dual layered, with the inner layer being made of fly sheet that is sealed with the groundsheet... Which means no pesky mosies!

...The toungue can hang back when the head is tilted far back, and block the airway. It isn't literally swallowed, it just sinks back and blocks the air. |

*glances at firemaker's background* |
*suddenly falls asleep* Yes, it works for me and it's damaging my brain Seriously, it can do permenent damage to people's minds. If trained hypnotists get into trouble these days, imagine what a bunch of school kids are going to do. Don't be stupid with it.

Nope. Schizophrenia can just be two different behaviours of someone. Multiple personality disorder is the classic stereotype of schizophrenia, but involves completely different personalities. |
