Arg... I hope you get better, Taryn... I had Tonsilitus when I was much younger. I think I drove my parents up the wall because at that age, all kids do is complain about it

Kellie: I know someone with a thyroid problem... He used to run miles and miles a day to keep his shape before he was treated. Bloody NHS (health system in the UK)

Although Streetcar can be kinda tedious at times, I thought that Brando was excelent in it. His Stanly really brought out the ferocity of the character, but at the same time, you could see how much he regretted it.
Streetcar is great at showing how turbulent relationships can work out, and that saying what needs to be said is better than living in a dream.

We don't get nearly as bad storms as in the US, but the UK has particularly turbulent and upredictable weather.

I've been in a storm that flooded the road in a foot of water a few years back... Then there was the time a tropical storm visited us instead of heading south west to Florida. A lot of people say it was a hurricane, but it wasn't. If it was a hurricane, then it wouldn't have been trees, powerlines and roof tiles blown down, they would've blown away all together. Houses would've been destoryed.

There have been two tornadoes where I live, I didn't see either of them, because I was away at the time. Belive it or not, you're more likely to see a tornado in the UK than anywhere else in the world, although where they happen isn't as focused as in the US. They ocur all over at unpredictable times, and are considerably less powerful.

Final Fantasy VI. It potential could be stunning if this incredible game, beyond it's time, could be blessed with graphics to refelct it's maturity.

And FFVII... Yes, Advent Children is fantastic and is more than enough to satisfy us, but we won't be happy until we have a GAME, dammit!

And another thing I'd like to see is a new 2d Sonic game, and not on the GBA. As a Sonic purist, I detest the way the GBA handles Sonic... The rotation of the sprites is from the SNES, and I feel that the way Sonic moves is unfaithful to the Megadrive originals.

Posted on 07-04-04 03:43 PM, in RPGs ... Do you prefer random or visible battles ? Link
Random battles were fine and acceptable right up until FFVII in my opinion... After then, the technology and the ability to advance the battle system into something more integrated was there. Yet, only a handful of games have actually inegrated the battle system into the rest of the game.

I hope more developers start to make games this way, random battles are outmoded and old fasioned now.

Personally, I think the Ocarina of Time battle system is the best, there's no reason why games can't have realtime battle systems like this in it. Mana has showed us that this sort of gameplay can include EXP gain too, so why haven't we seen any more realtime battles? Because developers aren't confident enough to go beyond what is accepted in the RPG world today. It's the slowest moving genre in gaming history.

HELLAS!

My aunt's family in Greece are in Athens city centre partying right now... Portugal deserved to win, they would've savoured the oppertunity in their home land, but Greece deserved to win too. They've worked extremely hard all the way through the competition, and were in my eyes the most impressive team

I saw this as soon as it was on at the Cinema. I was lucky, and I knew that Daft Punk were involved. I've been a fan of Daft Punk since before Discovery, so this was extra special for me.

Crescendols and Voyager are my favorite segments

NSNick: Yes, they've been improving and fine tuning some of the machinery. They've already removed the fake tyres and spoilers from the trains, because the forces ripped one of them off.

I wasn't sure about the official height of Millenium Force... All I knew it was the first "Giga Coaster"... Above 300ft.

Pokemon, to be honest. It took a lot of getting used to the style of anime, when I remember. After that I started watching anime on the Sci-Fi Channel. The first I ever saw was Ghost in the Shell, and that pretty much sold me.

When I started watching Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network, I really started buying into anime a lot. The technology and background story in specific anime such as Evangelion, Gundam Wing, Bubblegum Crisis and Ghost in the Shell was a big attraction

It's only a sketch that's been scanned into Photoshop and had it's levels adjusted for the time being... I'm going to CG it and put it in a new layout, if it comes out well

Basically, it's one third catgirl, one third self portrait and one third Ukyo from Ranma 1/2.

I have one other piece of work I wanted to share... It's my first decent attempt at CGing. I used Taryn's method of going over the lines in black in photoshop, and then CGing that outline. It's also the first time I've gotten to grips with shading properly. I'm quite pleased, and I'll be making some improvements with my Ukyo catgirl sketch. I'll post up the CG soon, and then perhaps a new layout

I too enjoy watching storms, and I've sometimes been out cycling in thunder and lightening... Stupid, I know, but I needed to get home.

There's something to be said about storms at night. The lightening lights everything up as bright as day for a few seconds. It's much better when it's directly overhead, because the sky is lit up every few seconds.
I've seen a hailstorm before that totally blotted out the sun on the horizon, that was cool.

And also, the night of the tropical storm made the sky black as night by 4pm, that was really scary for me at the time, being only five years old or so.

There's a bit of unusual weather in the UK today... We've got 65mph winds and heavy rain, which is unusual for July.

Because all of the trees are in full leaf, they're not prepared for this typically wintery weather, so many branches have come down. A few trees have even come down today, as well as power lines. 13,000 homes in the South East are without power. All in all, a very restless day, and a wet night.

Brits are used to lots of rain... Think of the kind of rain that places like Seattle and Vancouver recieve, and you could be on the right train of thought

The southern softies aren't used to being without power, though... It's usually up north that the worst of the weather heads.

Ok, the situation you described is absurd, but I do value the life of some mammals over others.
Of course, it's the cute animals like Cats, Dogs, Hedgehogs etc that I find myself favouring over pigs and cows.

But of course, all mammals apart from humans naturally know how to swim, so I'd go for the guy
