I've been having a problem with the Mario and Luigi blocks. If you exit a level with a different charactor then when you started, it goes to the postion on the overworld of that character instead of the first one, and it creates a palette problem if its on a different submap. Like, if you start a level with Mario and change to Luigi and then exit, it goes to Luigi instead of Mario in the overworld. A patch the keeps Mario and Luigi together in the overworld would be great.

Try making your own exgfx, that way your hack will be different from everybody elses. Maybe make your own enemys, you can't change the sprites, but you can change what they look like and make them something different.
Remember that it doesnt have to be the traditional Mario game in the mushroom kingdom, you could make him a secret agent, or a super hero, or even just an ordainary guy who just always happens to run into trouble all the time.

Don't be afraid of somebody hating your hack, try new ideas and if they don't work out then try again.

it really doesnt sound right that blocktool would corrupt the rom like that. are you using a clean rom, or are you basing your game on a hacked rom?

make the level side exit enabled, just make sure you delete the boxes used for the bonus game or it won't work. also, don't let there be anyway for mario to die or you'll see some garbage before you return to the overworld.

you can't use a goal in the bonus level because instead of going back to the overworld, you'll just reenter the bonus level, even if you use the ? ball, kind of like if you try to use a goal in the intro level. you have to get mario out of the level without the using a goal, like in yoshi's house.

i think what he's ask asking is if you make it so there is no option for 1 player. there's a patch to make it 1 player only, but not for 2 player only. the only way i can think of, is using the 1 player only patch and experimenting with mario and luigi blocks, then you could switch controls in the middle of the game.

i used a program called PPjoy (Parallel Port joystick) and i've connected a genesis, NES, and playstation controller through it and it worked perfectly. I don't know where the setup file is anymore because the site is down, but you could probably find it if you use google.

I put the blocks in my hack without any problems and they work great.

I have another idea for a pipe block that maybe you could put in the next release. Maybe a corner block that will only change your direction only every other frame. The direction you'd travel at an intersection would be random.

if u do make this game it might be a good idea to include somekind of a launcher program if possible. have it so u choose the past or future rom from it, then it could rename and open the emulator itself. otherwise it would be annoying renaming the save file over and over again.
