With the default AcmlmBoard lastactive-timestamp which gets updated on EVERY pageview: yes. VBB stores a second timestamp for this, which only updates if you view a page, after having been gone for longer than a certain time. So, let's say this time is 15 minutes, this timestamp ONLY updates when you view a page, after not having done anything after 15 minutes.

The person who originally did the gender change was creative.

The annoying thing is that Acmlmers tend to pick up and copycat shit whenever someone comes up with something creative, that's why gender changes suck. For some reason just EVERYBODY wants to have a gender change as soon as they see Anya or Acmlm do it, but for what?

Just so you know, that function is usually not configured for 15 minutes, but way longer time periods. Pretty obvious, that's where those 'your last visit was on bla bla bla'-things come from.

I use the female alias of Tuvai on things such as online games. Like Diablo 2's Sorceresses or Rogues.

Not quite; basically, if you delete your cookies which some people, including me, quite frequently do, ALL threads will be marked as new.

Oh yeah, I'd think twice before saying cookies are the ONLY practical way of doing this, VBulleting obviously doesn't use cookies. Looks a lot like a timestamp actually.

Vbulletin pretty much stores everything using a database, heck, that's why a default VBulletin already has over 70 tables I believe.

Posted on 03-21-04 07:00 PM, in bypassing highschool computer retrictions Link
Wow, isn't "how can I bypass school security" a general question... that's like, going to the butcher, saying "I want meat"...

On my previous school site there were a lot of ways to bypass everything. You could enter a lot of restricted drives and folders by simply making a shortcut to them, inluding the control panel. Special net drives normally not accessable for us could be entered with a batch file with net use m:\ (M was a Manufacturing drive only used, and normally only accessable, by teachers ). And a hell of a lot more.

Posted on 03-21-04 07:56 PM, in My first ever drawing to be online Link
Well, this is the first time I'm actually posting a drawing online. I'm not really good with drawings other than technical drawings (such as infrastructures, maps, pipe structures, etcetera). As some of you know, I'm working on a major RPG and battle system for tuvai.com, and unlike the one I had at RPG Revelation, this time I'm not using sprites from Final Fantasy 5 and stuff, but my very own character designs, backgrounds, music, etcetera.

I'm now in an early stage, and that's making the character designs. The system will onvolve 3 kinds of character classes, of which all 3 have a male and female version. These 3 are Warrior, Rogue and Sorcerer.

For starters, I tried making some rough sketches of the male Sorcerer. After countless failed attempts, I finally made one which doesn't look too bad. Allthough I admit I 'cheated' on the pose of the Sorcerer, which I copied from a magazine.

And lest you forget, this is a ROUGH SKETCH. I scanned it so I could edit it and color it using paint shop pro. So, here's the sketch:

EDIT: oh yeah, I drew it on transparant foil using a Fineliner (that explains why the lines look a bit watery/fadey), then scanned it while having a piece of paper behind it.

Fixed the sleeve and, edited the eye and the right hand, plus I gave it a go at coloring, though I feel it can be done better at that part.

A proper layout isn't just made for a specific height; nor for a scrollbar.

I didn't have a thing against scrollbar layouts before. But a LOT of the people currently using a scrollbar layout here are using one while it isn't even necesary. Not to forget, having a HUGE layout on top of that just so a specific image always shows up (Kasumi's layout, yes it pisses me off).

Why, just WHY do people fill their layout with dumb scrollbars why they could make their layouts 'stretchable', so it doesn't add stupid scrollbars NOR it needs a huge layout even for 1/2-lines of posts.

And Gywall, why the heck are you using a sig image wider than your whole scroll box? Why are you even using a scrollbar layout in the first place?

I don't care how long it is, as long as it's constructive and adds something to the ongoing conversation in the threads.

What I hate even more than short, pointless posts are posts like "I hate Microsoft!" or "Your signature image sucks", because it's not constructive, doh.

Posted on 03-22-04 12:41 AM, in Survey about the board; How can we make the board easier to use? Link
I think this board needs some security/anti-lamer upgrades first before adding features meant for functionality and/or ease. I don't think I need to explain this, do I? How many times is that Lihead dumbass going to signup, just to get banned? Yes, he DOES get banned shortly after he registered and acts like a shithead, but he can and does register, and that's the point.

He mustn't even get the chance to register, or at least not as easily as it currently is. Let's face it, the register page is a security swiss cheese; way to easy and open to 'attack' and get through; so is an IP ban.

For information, I would glue the grasshopper back together (that sounds stupid...), but it was already dried out when it was setup, so it's for you to guess how try it is now. Just touching it a little too hard might 'crumble' it, actually, so gluing is not really an option.

I flamed her though; enough to let her know this pisses me off, a lot.

Maybe I can get in touch with Ninja AE, and he can teach me how to hack the nonexistant admin panel, so that I could get that big button in the bottom right of my layout to work!

Spiffeh exp bar consisting of 2 table cells, and I still haven't gotten in touch with Ninja AE yet so I still don't know how to plug Acmlm's port.
