Not a bad idea at all. Allthough I think for that we'd need a different size for smileys; 15x15 is currently the default and most useful, but for using 'halves' like that, we'd need to use something uneven to get proper halves.  Like I said, not a bad idea at all, the only disadvantage I see in it is having all smileys to be the same color, that's what I hate about most other board's smileys so much. Just made a small concept. It does have some dissadvantages though. Like I said, we need to use same color on all of them, and in case you haven't noticed, some smileys don't really go well with eachother, for one, the   one doesn't go along well with others. | 1: attachments are handy, and I have them enabled at my board (allthough with strict limitations), but unless the board's hosting has plenty of space left, attachments or something similiar shouldn't be enabled. 2: Just ignore the forums you don't go to, nobody forces you to go in them. 3: I had that at my AcmlmBoard long ago, and personally found it a very nice feature. However, it's not really healthy for the MySQL database. Not to forget, on my board, out of hundreds of people, only 12 or so used it. |

| There is nothing like unlimited space. And asside from the space limitations, attachments also need really good moderation; without a doubt people will upload crapfrom time to time using attachment features, then there's the people who use the attachment feature as their personal fileserver or for their sig hosting place. Every post will need to be kept an eye on to have this moderated properly. |

| With the default AcmlmBoard, you can't since the views are just stored as a number, increased every time a person views a page. A possible way would be to make a new table, and instead of updating a number every time, add a new record (which would be best if it would just be a date). When you have that it's just a matter of executing a right quey to find out how many of those records are from the last day, last hour, and you name it. |

| I'm very, very, VERY majorly extremely ultimately extraordinary pissed off right now. When I was 4 (and that's 13 years ago) for some reason I was busy all day catching bugs and spiders and such and putting them in boxes and jars, just to watch them. I was obsessed doing that all day. One day, in the middle of the summer when there was pretty much a grasshopper plague in the great field that used to be here right next to town, there was this huge grasshopper almost as big as my lower arm part; huge scary thing for me it was, being a small 4 year old little kid. Anyway, together with a friend, whom I sent back home to get a net so we could catch it (heck, that thing was so huge, no way I'd be grabbing that with my hands ), we finally caught that thing after a shitload of tries. Like I did with most of the other insects and bugs I collected, I put the huge grasshopper in a glass jar; unlike the other bugs and insects, the glass jar I put this grasshopper in was an old, empty aquarium we had in the garage, it wouldn't fit in a jar. I watched it for days, until one morning I entered the garage where I kept all my bugs and insects, and noticed the grasshopper didn't move; 't was dead.  On the same day, uncle Leon payed us a visit and I told him about the grasshopper. I was very sad because one of the best 'catches' died, then my uncle told me they could let it dry out, and it could be set up and kept for display.That's what I did. So, ever since my fourth I have that [plastic box with inside, a huge set up grasshopper. It's always been on display on my bedrooms. And then back to the present. My dad's girlfriend is staying here for a few days. My dad's off for a few minutes, and while being bored his girlfriend, who's still here mopping around, enters my room and notes the plastic box with the old grasshopper in it. In spite of telling her to be careful with it, she picks it up, and she drops it... Result: the body, 4 small legs, 2 big legs and 2 antenna's lying over my floor, and my 'childhood pride' destroyed... HOW MUCH I WANT TO RAM MY NEW KATANA RIGHT UP HER THROAT! | There's a very easy way to do it actually; all that needs do be done is making it so it only dispays the new post image on threads, where the last-posted-in date is later than the date of your last visit. I've also seen some boards that create a cookie with the thread's last post date in every thread that you read; so if you have the cookie on your computer and the date is similiar to the thread's last post date, you don't see the 'new' image anymore. |
