Is there a hack for Megaman or Rockman 1 that changes the stage select screen and displays the robot faces rather than the full body sprites (to make it like Megaman 2-6)?

If not, an easy way to pull it off? (obviously the graphics could be ripped from 3)

Does anyone know where I can find a hack (a more finished version than at zophars) that I think was called Mario Fantasy Adventure. It put Mario gfx and music into Final Fantasy. The version I have has characters, the first few enemies hacked. Anyone know if someone picked this up or if there is a newer version out there?

Hmmm...too bad. Seems like a waste of a good concept and a great start. Anyone else know of it being continued or someone doing their own project like this?

Here is an English Translation. The English version is called "Squashed" but it was never released.

Don Doko Don 1 & 2 are also Famicom but I think they have translations as well.

I wanted to try to "mario-ize" a famicom game, just because it would be a new game to me because I am in the US. I am way out of my league here though

I was a big fan of Acmlm's Mario Fantasy Adventure hack. I wanted to see it finished, so I took it upon myself to build upon his already great hack.

HIS HACK CHANGED
Starting Characters
Some Music
Some graphics
Some enemies
Some Text

MY NEW VERSION
All Characters (Daisy and Yoshi now incldued)
All Enemies Graphics and names (no stats) all enemies are now changed including bosses.
More Text

Now you can play through the whole game and the enemies and characters are all from the Mario universe.
Although I am happy with how this turned out, it is not perfect. It doesn't have the finishing polish that makes a great hack; and unfortunately I have reached the limit of my abilities. Maybe someone wants to take this and put their own touches on it.

THINGS TO WORK ON:
Characters and Palettes are a little out of wack (had to work within constraints of Acmlm's hacked palettes since I have no idea how to mod those myself.)
More music could be changed
More map graphics and charater sprites could be changed.

Added 4 screenshots. No I didn't rearrange the maps. It looks as though Acmlm has started moving some things around but I did no do any more. For now, I wanted to keep it true to the flow of FF. If someone takes this torch and runs with it new maps might be a good thing, but it would have to come from someone with more talent at this kind of thing than me .

My enemies plus his maps would be very cool. His characters look better but I think 3 yoshi's is a little redundant.

The Weasel map is very cool. My ideal hack would look like that, but still be the classic map. If Weasel or Xcom want to combine these hacks that would be cool.

Anyone have a quick fix for 5+ letter names?

Not sure if I will work on it anymore, I just liked what Acmlm had going so I wanted to get some momentum behind it again. The colors of a lot of the enemies could be cleaned up so maybe I'll make a 3rd pass. Now that I think of it, I could clean up the towns and the overworld NPC sprites as well.

If anyone could find me patches (or a dummy-proof method of implementing) for:
1) Making the character names more than 4 characters
2) Giving the item shops the abilitiy to purchase more than one at a time
I would really like to get those in there (I know they have been posted here before but I cannot find a search feature - also I am not experienced with hex editing.)

As for the bosses- I wanted to stay somewhat true to Final Fantasy. I could pick out any set of 4 bosses from the mario games that really were a good fit for the fiends. I thought mario-izing them would be the way to go.

I just wanted to "Mario-ize" FInal Fantasy, so pretty much the entire flow and layout is left as is. If someone wants to edit the maps and story they can take this and run with it.

I did not make it so that you become bigger from Bahamut (put on the to do list). However, the upgrade does keep the mario graphics so you don't all of the sudden have a FF Knight.

- Reduce monster encounters

Unchanged from Final Fantasy

- Change more areas (new map design)
- Rewrite Storyline more to not resemble Final Fantasy anymore.

There have been several Mario Final Fantasy hacks out there started but never progressed past a few graphic changes. Now that this more or less total makeover is out there maybe those ambitious types can use this as a template, and start modifying maps and stories right away rather than having to hack all the graphics and such.
