You're welcome. I finally got around to checking out the games there, and for the ones I'm interested in, their servers are all down for repairs/upgrades/etc. Ah well. |

Wow! Sounds pretty sweet! Can't wait 'til it's done. As for releasing it, well, I dunno. With all my other hacks, I realeased them as I did things to them, but with my FF hack, I haven't released anything yet. Dunno why, just what I decided to do with it. If you do release it, you can be sure that I'll play it, and I'll give you feedback on it. *wishes he knew ASM so that he could do neat things like this or DD's SMB3 hacks* |

Well, that, and so that there wouldn't be one more unfinished FF hack out there if I don't ever finish it. Not that anyone plays my hacks, but still... I say wait until it's finished to release it, excepting for beta testers, of course. Look at the responce DD got for his mega SMB3 hack for proof of how much better it is. |

But Tazz & Cole said that Renee won... But HOW?! There was a NO DQ rule! Cena was legal And those were the shortest matches I ever saw. *rolls eyes* And I won't mention that I called Every. Single. Thing. That happened. Every one of them. And I can tell you right now, At Judgement Day, Cena will lose, and Renee will deface the US title, and make it the French Title. And JBL will win the belt. Booker T & 'Taker will probably have a no contest, when Mordechai interferes. |

New to RO? Not sure what to do? Fear not! I'm in the same boat as you! I've been asking questions, and getting answers, and I'm going to share them with you. You can also ask any questions you may have, and they will be added, along with the answers (as soon as they're given). Tips, tricks, etc., will also reside here. NOTICE! The information contained in this thread is NOT 100% COMPATABLE WITH ALL VERSIONS OF RO! This is for the RO run on Emuz's server ONLY. Thank you. Thanks! Announcements/Updates Answered Questions Q: Help! I made my character, went into the Training Castle, and now I'm stuck! How do I get out? A: Currently, there is a bug that prevents you from being able to do the tutorial presented in the Training Castle. At this time, your only option is to delete your charcter, and start over. The good news is that you won't lose anything (other than the random food you are given, which isn't really a loss at all). Once you have restarted, go into the Castle, and talk to Usher. When you get the option, choose the 2nd choice, Direct Access to Ragnarok. This will warp you to the town of Izlude, and allow you to start playing RO. Q: OK, I'm trying to delete my character, but it asks me for an e-mail address. What should I put? A: Since you are never asked for an e-mail address when you create your account, you just leave this blank, and click the OK button. Q: There are a lot of people to talk to in Izlude! Who should I talk to? A: Everyone. Seriously. Every RPG in existance is that way. Of course, when you're just starting out, there are 3 important NPCs in Izlude, and they're all right by each other. The dog will heal you, for free. There should be a dog in every town. Very handy. The lady on the left, with the Blue Hair, is the Kafra representitive. You can use her to store up to 100 different items. She will also save your game for you. If you die, you will restart in the town you last saved in. There should be a Kafra rep in every town. The lady on the right, with the brown-ish hair is the Warp NPC. She will warp you, for free, to any town or dungeon. Easiest way to travel. There should be a Warp NPC in every town. Q: Where should I go first? A: Talk to the Warp NPC (see previous question), and choose Towns. Scroll down to Prontera, and click OK. Welcome to Prontera! This seems to be the main town, where everyone comes to regroup, chat, trade, etc. Make friends here. Once you get a weapon, head South, and out into the killing fields. For now, concentrate on killing Porings (the pink slimes). Once you have gained about 5 base levels, you can try killing Fabre (green bug/slug) or Lunatic (white fuzzy thing). You might even be able to take on Chonchon (black fly). But whatever you do, STAY AWAY from Rodra Frog (green frog) and Creamy (dark colored butterfly/moth)! Once you get your first job, and get to about level 5 in it, THEN you can go after Rodra Frog. When you kill a monster, don't forget to pick up the items it leaves behind. Q: What do I do with the things I get from the mosnters? A: Sell them. Keep any food you get, along with any herbs, but sell the rest. It's the way you get money in RO. Q: Should I sell weapons & armor too? A: Yup. All the daggers I've picked up have always turned out to be knives once I've identified them, and the maces have all been clubs. You get more money if you sell them without identifying them. As for the armors, identify the first set of clothes you get. It should be a jacket, which you can equip to increase your defense. Just sell the rest. Q: How do I identify items? A: Buy the Magnifier. The shop that sells them is in Prontera. From the fountain, go left a little bit, and then up. You should see a door portal thingy to your left, almost directly above the NPC named Stylist. Once you're in the shop, talk to the Tool Dealer and select Buy. You'll see a list of things for sale. The first item will be the Magnifier. It costs 40 Z. Just click on it, and drag it to the Buying Items window. Finish the transaction, and then go into your inventory (ALT+E if you don't have it opened). Drag the Magnifier to your Hotkey Bar (ALT+F12 of you don't have it opened), and assign it to one of the hotkeys (F1-F9). Press the proper hotkey, and a list of items to identify will pop up. Select the item to identify, and click OK. You will have to look at the item in your inventory to find out what it actually is. Also, every time you identify an item, it uses up 1 Magnifier. Don't forget that you can right-click on an item's icon to get a description of it. Q: OK, I've been killing monsters. I have skill points to spend. What do you suggest? A: Buy them all. However, don't put more than 8 points into Basic Skill. The 9th point will allow you to change into your first job, but there is an NPC Jobchanger by the fountain in Prontera who will do it for free as soon as you have 10 Job Levels as a Novice. Q: "I'm a 32/22 Swordsman!" "Yeah? Well I'm a 45/30 Mage!" WTF?! Why are there two numbers given when someone is talking about level? A: There are two levels for each character. The first number is the Base Level. This is the number before the slash, like the 32 or 45 in the example in the question. This is the level that increases your stats. You have to spend Stat Points to get anything out of rasing the Base Level, however. You can do this on the Status menu (ALT+A). The second number is the Job Level. This is the number after the slash, like the 22 or 30 in the example in the question. This is the level that increases your skills. You have to spend Skill Points to get anything out of rasing the Job Level, however. You can do this on the Sill menu (ALT+S). In order to change from a Novice into your first Job, you need to have a Job Level of at least 10. To change into your second Job, you need to have a Job Level of at least 40. Q: How does the Guild I'm in level up? A: By fighting. Every time you get XP from fighting, a certain percent goes to the Guild. This percent is set by the Guildmaster, and can be adjusted from 0% to 99% for each member of the Guild. This means that the Guildmaster could set things up so that 5% of all XP earned by Guildsman A goes to the Guild's level, while 50% of all XP earned by Guildsman B goes to the Guild's level. When the Guild gets enough XP, it levels up. Q: How can I check on the level of the Guild I'm in? A: Use ALT+G to open the Guild Info window. It has TONS of info about the Guild you're in. Q: Help! I'm in the town of Payon, and I can't find the Warp NPC! Where is she? A: Heh. This is a common problem. Sofie was the one to figure it out. Thanks, Sofie! When you're near the South Exit of the town, you should see a group of 3 people on your right, with a 4th person close to them. When you move your mouse over any of those three, it tells you that they are Kafra. If you talk to them, they tell you abou the Bunny Band quest. However, only the two on the ends are Bunny Band Quest Kafras. The girl in the middle is the Warp NPC. She's kinda hard to click on and get as the Warp NPC, and not as a Kafra. You can either put your mouse on the right side of her head, about where her ear should be, and see if it says Warp NPC. If it does, click away! The other option is to right-click on the ground with your cursor, and rotate the area. Make sure you hold the right button down until you've finished rotating. Rotating it 45 (edited by Elric on 05-10-04 01:36 AM) (edited by Elric on 05-17-04 08:27 PM) |

Well, I'm not planning on submitting it to GameFAQs or the like, so it should be assumed that it's for Emuz's RO server... *shrugs* I can't change the thread title, but I can add that info to the actual post... |

Thanks for the sticky & thread title edit, Jizzy! Slash Safter, I (obviously) recommend it, but beware: It's addicting! Kitten Yiffer: Heh. That's about how I felt when Sofie told me how to do it. XD It's official: I am now helplessly (hopelessly) addicted to RO. |

Yes, downfall. That's why they lost 3 of their 4 belts. If Orton doesn't lose his IC belt next week, he'll lose it at the next PPV. And it's about damn time, too. |

Jeebus, Sofie! I think you posted more that I did! And no, your layout was NOT removed. Trust me, I saw it. It's a but with Acmlm's new layout system. I edited my first post, and removed the layout from it, but as you can see, it's still there. I think the problem is with the auto-updating layout option... Since you like to answer my questions... When you're a novice and picked direct acces, you are automatically ported to Izlude. With the exception of a shop being right there, it's no different from Prontera. IMO, each player should choose which place they like better. Prontera seems to be where everyone regroups, and I almost ALWAYS see someone in front of the fountain. Of course, I haven't covered how to save, so most people won't know how. I found it by accident. As soon as you change class to your first job, buy a few flywings if you haven't found anyAre you sure you mean flywings? Because all the do is teleport you to a random location near where you are. Trust me. I got stuck in an undeveloepd area. There were NO NPCs in the town, so I went outside to get killed my monsters, but there weren't any monsters either. I tried to use the flywings, and it just moved me a little north of where I was standing when I used them. I had to have Yarx come teleport me out. Luck: Raises your chance at having critical (~double attackpower) attacks, raises your perfect flee rate. (the % of times you WILL dodge attacks, no matter how bad your agility is) Rumoured to influence everything in small ways. Meh.I noticed that I started getting rare items from monsters when I raised my Luck. In any other game I can think of, this is how it works, so I wouldn't be surprised if it worked in RO too... |

Yeah, that's a common problem with layouts using tables on AcmlmBoards. All the code must be on one line, or it inserts extraneous line breaks. You should make it look like this: < And not like this: < < < < < |

Well that's new then. I got that from waaaaaaaaay back when I first did HTML stuff, and I used Netscape Navigator Gold 3 to make a page. It put "cyan" as the color, so I've always used it since then. And that's what is messing up the < |

Aw man! When I saw this thread, I thought that it was an actual AcmlmBoard scavanger hunt. We should do one of those. Have someone make up a list (of things you can actually find), and have everyone who participates take pics of the items wtih digicams, then upload them, and post a set of links to their collection when they're finished. *hides* |
