Well I decided to show a small preview of my SMW hack. I am remaking Mario Land for GB. Not much is done, but it is looking pretty good so far. I am still working on things like the pipe and other sprites to look like an enhanced version of the original GB ones.

But here is a quick preview:

Here are some updates:


I changed the pipe and the mushroom.


I used the SMB2 coin. It seemed to fit in pretty well.

As for the mario sprites, I am keeping the same style.

The new pipe is made to resemble the original one from the GB, but updated. The other one I used was just ripped from another hack (I forget which one) so I am not sure if I want to use it. I kinda enjoy making most of the sprites myself.

I probably will fix those. What I did was place everything where they were in the original GB one. But I see no harm in rearranging thing a little bit.

Well here is another update:



Here is an idea of how super mario will look.
Also note that I updated the pipe and fixed the ledge to look better with the pipe.

I suppose I will try making different pipes. I do not want to use one that I simply ripped from another hack. Well, I just will have to see what comes of this.

BTW. I am still working on the level. I will be fixing the palm trees and the location of the grass.

Hey I was wondering if anyone had a link that has images of levels of SMBL. Like the whole level so that it will make my level making much easier. You know what I mean?

Good job man. I like the original smb mixed with smb3.

BTW. Yeah that cave backround should have been fixed. Even if it was taken straight from SMA4. But it is not that bad. Nothing to create that much fuss over it.

I like the sound of that. You probably should make four versions, one with mario, luigi, toad, and peach. Unless you can hack to the extent of chooseing a character. But I highely doubt it.

According to the dictionary, a sprite is.

" A small bitmap image, often used in
animated games but also sometimes used as a synonym for
icon."

So basically, the word sprite will work as well as graphics if you ask me.

QUESTION.

What do you think will be better for when you go down the pipe. A underground look or a colorful SMB3 Allstar look?



This is obviously not finished.

BTW. I will release a demo after the first 3 levels are finished.

Here is how the bonus pipes will look. I decided to go with the underground/pipe look. Plus I added the 'BONUS' which is pretty snazzy. I hope you guys like it.

I was going to change the clouds to resemble the ones from the original gameboy, but updated. The shell-less koopa is also going to be updated.

The bosses will be in a different level than the castle. You will go through the door to get to it. That goomba just looks strange in that pic because it is at it's second frame. The first makes sense of it.



Also I am keeping a red piece of grass around to keep diversity. So it does not get repititive with the green.

Thank you everyone. Yes there will be a overworld map. Each land will be an island like it says in the original gameboy SML manual. Plus I am going to put in a few bonus levels. I am not sure how they will be, but it should be cool.

Legoman only posted one post here giving his opinions on my shots. I do not think he needs to be banned. But hey, I have not been here as long as you guys, so I do not know.

To tell you the truth, I really do not remember. I think I did the ice, the beam like you said, and sparks. That is all I remember.

Who knows. I might pick this project up again since it seems that everyone is liking it. There are a few bugs that are unevoidable (flying) but i am working on another hack right now.
