Axology time!

Guitar: 1996 Fiesta Red Fender Jagstang.
Amp: 1960 Sears Silvertone Twin Twelve tube amp. (125 watts of power. O_o)
Effects: Boss DS-1, Boss OC-2, EH Big Muff Pi, EH Small Clone Chorus, Digitech Whammy... (I'm trying to expand my pedal collection - flanging, delay and so forth.)

I've been playing for three years. I play a variety of genres - whatever I feel like, basically. I mainly like either really raw and dirty Jack White-ish stuff or very textured sounds. I still suck no matter what I play, really, though. *shrugs*

I'm a pretty big lefty - I'm pretty much a socialist. (Of course, I contradict this by working as a capitalist. ) I like big government, but not TOO big of government. Such as, I'd like the states to have the freedom to make their own choices, but I'd want the federal government to watch over them and make sure they don't do stupid things with, say, federally granted money. I'd also like federally funded schools and health care and so forth. I don't really have to say a lot towards freedom and rights, hey? I may like big government, but I want the people to have as much freedom as they should. This is, of course, within reason - i.e., I fully and utterly support gay marriages, both civil and in church.

Also, I like a government with good foreign affairs - not just a good domestic policy, but a balance of the two. (Unfortunately, the US hasn't really seen that since the days of JFK)

Basically, I guess my point of view could be boiled down to political moderation. Not too much of one thing and not too much of the other. I'm sure Aristotle would be proud and Hobbes would be jumping down my throat. O_o

Just on a side note! Like others, I'd really love to see communism work. If we could have a leader who wouldn't turn into a psychotic despot on the people, I would fully support a communist state. But unfortunately, I don't think such a thing is going to happen for a while...

Actually Elmo, Ian Curtis wasn't the lead singer of Tears for Fears - but he was the astounding lead vocalist of the most important post-punk/goth rock band there ever bloody was. The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen and even the aforementioned Tears for Fears amongst others wouldn't have anything to stand on if it hadn't been for Joy Division. (Well, and Bauhaus, but I don't think they were quite as influential as JD)

Joy Division - my vote goes to thee. *goes and listens "Heart and Soul"*

1. Most would say that they fit into either the noise rock or post-rock genres. Their music focuses on dissonance, chaos and sonic textures, while still retaining something reminiscent of melody. Sometimes.
2. While there are better post-rock bands, a la Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai and Godspeed You Black Emperor, Trail of Dead are a pretty good band - most certainly not for everyone, though - and are also an okay starting place for getting into the style of music.
3. They have three albums out currently and another is this coming year.
4. Some would say "Source Tags and Codes" is a good place, but I reckon their self-titled debut or Madonna are stronger.

*bows* I hope I was of some help. :3 Also, I highly, highly recommend the aforementioned post-rock bands, along with such bands as Sigur Ros, A Silver Mt. Zion and, my favorite band, My Bloody Valentine.
