I'm stuck at this point.

How can I get up and through that tiny hole when Samus can't grab edges?

PS: Nice hack so far.

In DOS it's possible. Maybe you can do it in Windows with these steps:

- the Application program stores its data in a global object (Link) or just in a file
- Application starts a Watcher program
- Watcher checks continually if Application is still running
- Application quits
- Watcher writes the data into Application's *.exe
- Watcher quits

IMO files don't clutter stuff - when they're in the application's directory. Many people just have to write into the Windows directory etc. I can't fathom their thinking.

Why don't you zip (741 KB) or rar (632 KB) it?

SM just changes the palette to get other suit graphics.

I guess you'll have to change all the suit tiles. It's possible though (link).

Well, it works in DOSBox...

What's the error? Does it work with VDMSound?

In ZSNES you can disable sound channels with the keys F5..F12, dunno about SNES9x.

A quick test showed that channel 6 (F10) is used for both sound effects and part of the music. The sound effects stop the music, so ripping should be easy.

Try VAC for ripping; I think you'll need a recorder as well (Cool Edit, Goldwave etc).

You could use WinRAR or WinACE for compressing the file; it gets down to 1.16 MB.

Can you set the background of level 1 a bit further back, so that it scrolls slower than the foreground?
And the platform at the end doesn't catch all coins, is that intended?

I haven't played much further yet.

Why don't you ask in the "development" section of the ZSNES board?

Must be a newer version.

Anyway, I'm sure there are lots of tools for recording... Dwedit's solution is of course to be preferred.

Did you get the latest WIP from here?

Scan your ROM with NSRT (v3.2 has a GUI) to see if it's a bad one.

NEVER do that. "WIP" doesn't mean "patch". You're just inviting unexpected program behaviour.
You should create a new directory for each version of your applications, and then adjust your shortcuts.

Last thing I heard about EWJ2 was that it uses HDMA for sound output. ZSNES and SNES9x have slight problems with CPU<->APU timing and even more with HDMA. Most games are flexible enough so they don't crash.

Keep checking for new emulator releases (ZSNES, SNES9x, bsnes, Sneese, Super Sleuth etc.); one day timing may be accurate enough.

Well, we're kind of old-fashioned in our methodolgy, a point I can't disagree with. Unfortunately, being the old fart I am with a job and all that crap, I don't have time to rebuild from scratch. Stay tuned to Nightcrawler's Romhacking.com. Quality translation news with a 24 hour turn-around. High time to pass the torch. I don't want to become the site that just won't admit it's dead.

Introduction

For those who don't already know, after romhacking.com went down, I started complaining that it was a big loss to the scene and we had nowhere to point newbies to etc.. Well, you know the saying.. 'Quit complaining and DO something about it'. So.. I have taken the liberty to revive Romhacking.com because quite frankly, it seemed as if nobody else would.

This certainly stretches me a bit thin, but I wasn't going to let a cornerstone of the scene waste away. Now with the whirlpool gone, it is even more critical. There is desperate need for a new community site, one that can help unify this broken, spread out scene. It's time to bring people together again and it's time to have a scene news site that isn't dying or dead. It's time to breathe a bit of life into this stagnant scene. Maybe this site won't change anything, but there's a chance it can. There's a chance of bringing people together. There's a chance of slapping a little more life into this scene. That's a chance I optimistically want to take.

The Idea

Romhacking.com is going to be more than just a file and document archive. It's going to be a community oriented site. It's going to have your documents, utilities, and patches, and it's also going to have a database of who's active in the scene and what they're doing. Naturally, it's going to have a message board. The idea is to bring people together. Too many people out there would like to offer help or need help, but don't know of each other. A database of who's in this community and what they doing and what their skills are, can help bring the word 'community' into it's meaning.
