OK I am a total newbie who at this (Ok not total, but I dont know things you would) and no matter where I look my questions just aren't answered. So here they are: 1) How do I add/edit enemies into the game (not like adding enemies already in the game, Im talking like making your own custom enemies and putting them in) 2) How do I edit the Mario sprite? 3) How do I change the starting movie like most people have done with their hacks? 4) What are Sprite Commands? I may have more later on... |

WTF? I try to open a BIN file (extracted from Lunar magic) in YY-CHR but it comes up as a pixelled mess. Am I doing something wrong? To tell you the truth, my ambition is to change the Mario sprite, and maybe some other things. |

I figured it out, wrong format. Mario has too many poses, add to that a confusing pallette that wont even be fixed by importing and you have suicide. Oh well...*draws SMB3 leaf better than Leonardo Da Vinci could ever do* *draws a few other things* |

OK now I feel like Ive discouraged you from trying this hack, but please just give it a go... This is called Shadow Mario World. You play as none other than the evil Shadow Mario! The story is that Bowser created Shadow Mario and Luigi to take over the Mushroom World. The takeover was successful, he held many Yoshis prisoner and captured the real ruler. But, blinded with power, Bowser started mistreating Shadow Mario & Luigi. So they decided to get revenge by killing him and his children, and rescuing his prisoners. So the ex-evil (well, hes still evil in heart, hes just doing this out of spite) Shadow Mario is off on an adventure! Im hosting this with Geosh*tties, I know I know, but its the only server I know of that I can rely on for this task. Dragon Peninsula 2. Ghost Fortress. The largest level in ShMW. A contender for the longest level in the history of SMW hacking. None other than the title screen. Please enjoy, please?? Did I mention its only beta? I still have a LOT of work to do. Im gonna try to explain this in the most boring way I can... What I want to do is use Block Tool to import a certain block into my second hack, Toad's Legacy (or something like that, Ive already made lil' Mario into Toad). Anyway, it says I need to choose a map16 image for this block. But I want to use my own image. So HOW can I import a new map16 tile and use it in Block Tool and LM? |

Hi all! Ive been hard at work thinking of an alternative of Mario (which was Toad), and even more time drawing him decently. I didn't "rip", although I had a M&L SS sprite sheet to help me. Some of the sprites are redrawn from the toad you play as at the start of M&L SS. Anyway, Ive compiled a demo. Mario has been fully changed, though the levels and overworld have NOT. Well, actually I added Toad's House, and "I Spy a 1-UP" riddles in every world. But I have not changed the levels because I don't want to waste time on people who aren't interested. But if I get the inspiration and approval rating, I'll go for it. Toad's having a party, but noones here! SUUUUPERRRR TOOOOAD! WTF is that? Probably why the Toad sprite looks bad is because of the size of each pixel between a huge SNES screen and a tiny GBA screen. What I did was I got a Toad M&L SS sprite sheet, ultra-zoomed in on Paint, then drew Toad pixel by pixel on YY-CHR. I thought it may look better than an overused SMAS SMB2 Toad since the game the sprite is based on is newer. Though my real question is: would any of you guys be interested if I redid every level, and maybe the entire overworld? Oh and Master M, I have worked like an enslaved elf to get the flying sprite as good as I could get it, I dont know what else I could do about it. Level design is my strong point in hacking. Look at my first hack Shadow Mario World. I have changed the levels before the switches, and I changed Choco Ghost House into Ghost Fortress, the largest level, well, ever! I also changed Chocolate Island 2 after a bug I found, and now I bet you can't get the secret exit! This is in ShMW though, and I probably used my best level ideas in that hack. If other people like it, Ill try and go for it. OK I just added a shine to the balloons, they look better already! lol (edited by mvent2 on 05-01-05 06:40 PM) |

*calms down for this* I wanted my second hack, Toad's Oddyssey, to have a block that is clear when the switch is ON and solid when OFF, and vice versa for another block. I tried inserting it with Block Tool, then made the necessary animations. BUT, when I tested it on level 19, the test level. Toad was....swimming! I tried to bump the ON/OFF block but it wouldn't change. And when I went further, there were all these rows of animated water surfaces! I figured it was a Block Tool error, so I passed that idea. My next idea was simple. Changing the text block to the one from YI. I made the required frames and put it in as an animation. But when I opened the level, Toad was swimming again! The same thing happened again!!! Can someone PLEASE tell me how I can put in custom animations without all this? I used 2 of "2 8x8s line" because the 16x16 option, I didn't know how to get the right frames in the right place. Helps? I followed the instructions as per Smallhacker's instructions in Newbie Q&A exactly. |

Darkflight, w/o the animations the level is just fine, a normal level. And FuSoYa, LM gives no warning as to the file being too big. Besides, the file only contains 8 8x8 tiles. If I get to make a screenshot I will, but can anyone else HEELP MEEEE |

These are screenshots of my problem. Gotta admit thats a pretty sweet block tho lol. When I go further... Ill see if its a size error. In the meantime, is someone familiar with this problem or is it just me? |

Anywhere where I put in a custom animation. Maybe I didn't get an exact number of non-blank tiles on the file...but I don't know. Did anyone fix this? EDIT: I figured it out! It was the size of the ExGFX files anyway. Not only that, but I figured out the 16x16 animation editor!
