Well, you can find a lot of discount DVDs at some of the major retailers -- mostly at about 5 or 6 bucks. But yeah, the mean prices of the new release DVD movies that are coming out are close to $20 or more. . .

I used to have it on Christmas for the longest time -- up to and including the time before the crash -- and now I just use the simple Daily Cycle one.

Is there a way that I can put "X views during the last day, X during the last hour" just like the posts line? I know it required inserting a new MySQL table -- but can it be set up the same way as the posts?

Not that it really matters, but there haven't been a lot of newbies really talking a little bit about themselves -- always the same introduction. It has been quite a long time since I have seen a person introduce themselves properly. Anyway, enough of my ranting. I hope you have fun here -- and that won't be an indication of how you post.

The link at the top of the page is a good idea -- while the pop-up window is not.

Man, when I went there -- it showed 285 users online and 2,099 total users registered. A few seconds later, the number of users jumped to 2,150!!

Edit: Now the number of users has grown to 2,250!!

This thing is growing at an alarming rate -- there's now over 3,400 users in the database and over 450 users online. This needs to be stopped over there -- before the numbers of users gets close 10,000.

But we need to be prepared just in case this person tries to come over to any of our boards.

Edit: Oh my -- now close 4,000 users.

Yeah, it looks like someone was able to stop it -- but not before the number of users climbed to 5,506 -- and the highest number of users online at once was over 900.

Yeah, that was Ziff. He had (and probably still has) a gif of a stick figure with the head of Hitler dancing wildly.

Yeah, he got scared when the board died the first time -- he couldn't handle it anymore and decided to the let the new board be run by someone else. I don't know -- if you can't see 5 shiny yellow letters that say "A-c-m-l-m", there's something horribly wrong here.

Posted on 03-20-04 06:55 AM, in Suggestion: Get rid of the newbie forum Link
I don't think the newbie should be gotten rid of. However, the following need to be changed in order for it become less spammy:

(1) When a person makes a newbie thread, the user is required to introduce themselves and tell a little bit about themselves. If not, at least a little bit more than just a simple "Hi, I'm new." and that's it. If a user somehow throws out a topic in there, perhaps the quality of the posts that the other users make while replying can get a little bit better. Which bring me to the next one. . .

(2) It gives some people an excuse to get a "free" post in that thread saying the same thing in every newbie thread -- "Welcome to Acmlm" and nothing else. The users that respond to the "newbie" in that thread sometimes have conversations in there -- most of the time just a few words. This includes the newbie posting back and saying "Thank you for welcoming me" for every person that replies in that thread -- and that should be stopped.

(3) Close the thread that a newbie has made so that a person doesn't "bump" those threads after a certain length of time. By then, that user should know the rules and wouldn't be a newbie.

When I first signed up on the old board, I was VGFreak877. After about 4 or 5 months (I don't exactly remember), I changed my name to Valeth. I was going to change it back to my current name -- but the board died. So, when I signed up again on this new board, it gave me a chance to change it back to my original name.

These are just a few of the ones I like:

(1) Believe -- Tamaki Nami from Gundam SEED
(2) Catch You Catch Me -- Gumi (?) from Card Captor Sakura
(3) Puratina (Platinum) -- Maaya Sakamoto from Card Captor Sakura
(4) My Will -- from Inuyasha
(5) Chiisana Inori -- from Fruits Basket (Is the one you're talking about Chibi?)
(6) It's Gonna Rain -- from Rurouni Kenshin
(7) The Real Folk Blues -- from Cowboy Bebop
(8) Ai no Tenshi -- from Perfect Blue
(9) Yakusoku wa Iranai -- Maaya Sakamoto from Vision of Escaflowne
(10) 1/2 (Hanbun) -- from Rurouni Kenshin
(11) Gamble Rumble -- Move from Initial D
(12) Arashi no Naka de Kagayaite -- from Gundam 08th MS

I could go on forever, but these are the ones I have fun listening to.

Yeah Colleen, that was Japanese. "Wakarimasu ka?" means "Do you understand?" -- kind of ironic, don't you think?

And to answer your question Kafei -- Hai, wakarimashita. Yokoso.

Okay, I know this question has been asked plenty of times before -- and I since I can't look at the old threads that this question was answered again, I have to ask it now.

Anyway, a few of my users have been complaining of login problems when they login to my board -- they receive the two header errors when they try it. Oftentimes, I would open all essential php files and get rid of the spaces on the bottom of the file, and that would cure it for a time. But then it keeps coming back!!

My question is -- is it something that I'm doing to those files that's making those spaces appear?

The board URL is: www.nihongofreak.com/board

Here is the Cookie Path portion of config.php:

//Cookie path
$domain="nihongofreak.com";
$folder="/"; (I'm thinking maybe it should be "/board/" instead of just "/".)

Wow, nobody is bothering to read the sticky that FreeDOS has so nicely prepared for the newbies here. It's there for a reason, you know.

Anyway, welcome to Acmlm's -- where the fun never stops and the posting never gets old.

Cool -- someone else that's studying Japanese as much as I do!! Sugoi yo ne!!

I know all the kana and about 25 kanji. Although I've been slacking on my studying lately. Anyway, just a bit more nihongo for you -- this time in kana:

lol, it's still happening. . .

But I'm curious about something though -- do you think it could have something to do with the permissions of each file, everytime the files are accessed they're being written to?

From the thread title, I was expecting to see more than one screenshot here -- but I guess this will have to do for now. I don't think I've seen a circus theme before -- therefore very original.

But anyway, welcome to Acmlm's -- at least your post was more than three words.
