Hm... I'm no ROM hacker, but can you like... move the rapids down a bit so it looks more natural? You know, move the water layer down a bit so the water actually looks like it's touching the rock. Or are they both on the same layer, making it a moot point? |

I must say after playing such an awfully short demo, it was just GREAT. I just LOVED the animations of that cute little ninji. How he smiles when he's jumping, how he actually looks up when you press UP... it's those little things that just makes me want to get the hack, like, NOW. XD That game is just great. I am VERY looking forward to the finished hack. Question though: Is there going to be any power-ups other than the star in the last level of the demo? Or is it pretty much "one hit and you're dead" kind of thing? :o |

I've played this, er, "interesting" hack. And I beat it in like 2 minutes. That must be the shorest demo ever. :p Of course, it would need a lot of improvement. |

I've finally gotten around to playing this demo. The first world looks just great, but the waterfall doesn't really make sense... the waterfall's water is supposed to move fast, not at the same speed as the river leading down. Maybe remove that animation tiles from the waterfall? And from Quaint Valley 1 to 2, Mario doesn't even swim in the water. He just... hovers over it. o.o Better fix that. The path leading to the Mushroom Kingdom is kind of long and boring, so you may want to shorten it a bit or add a level on the way there. The Mushroom Kingdom itself is alright, but the land itself is too squarish. Make it look more causal by giving it more curves and stuff. Same goes with the land to the south of the Mushroom Kingdom. A lot has been said about the levels by the previous posts, so I'll leave it at that. They basically just need more work. Overall, it's a nice hack, but not overly impressive like some others. Keep working on it. |

I've noticed that there's a lot of glitches in the game. In Burnt Cliffs, you can get stuck in the solid hill at the point where you have to jump up. I had to let the time expire to escape. Also, at the end of the Burnt Cliffs before the goal gate, there's some invisible blocks blocking your way from being able to use the purple triangle thingy to run up the wall to the goal. There was just no other way to get up there, so I had to put on my "Swim Anywhere" AR code JUST to get up there. Forcing players to use codes or cheats just to get past obstacles is a no-no. Normally when you hit the goal gate you walk slowly as the screen fades out. In Burnt Cliffs it stops immediately the second you touch the goal gate and you're whisked back to the main map without any fading out. After Najavercek Canyon 1, the path to the next level opens up, but Mario doesn't automatically move on to it. I had to press RIGHT for Mario to go to that level. It was kind of creative putting the goal gate bar between the two trees in Najavercek Canyon 2, though. Did you intend to have that buzzsaw "jump" off the path in Najavercek Lake? Either way, it looks cool. How do you expect us to get past that wall of brown blocks to get at the ? sphere to finish the Najavercek Lake level if there's no P switch block anywhere? If you want to include a P switch, at least make it more obvious. I mean, I didn't really have the time to punch EVERY ? block in the level just to find the P switch. Also, there's many points in the level where that you will have to either drown or let the timer expire because you can't swim or jump back up high enough to get back onto the platforms. Najavercek Canyon 3 has a point where you can get stuck and have to let the timer expire to even leave the level. It's where you get Yoshi. I couldn't even spin jump off him to get through the tiny one-block gasp to continue on. Just... don't make us have to wait for the timer to expire JUST to leave the area. That's a no-no. The overworld where the Dark Spire is looks a little better this time around, but it's still too sparse. Add rocks, islands, whatever. Just make it look more eye-catching. I can't really comment on the 2nd world since I can't get past Dark Spire. It just... cuts off right there, and I couldn't get any further, unless I'm missing something. There are just too many coins and ? blocks in all levels. Tone down on that. This hack needs a LOT of work, I'm sad to say. |

Remember, we have limited time in levels And like I said, I didn't have the time to hit a million ? blocks just to find out where the P switch is. It's kind of tedious when you hit every single one and only get a coin, while rarely you get to hit for more than a coin or get a power-up in. After several levels of massive ? blocks, I just gave up on ever trying to hit every single one. |

I've viewed the trailer, and I must say it looks even better than before (other than the crappy quality, but that can't be helped). The overworld needs more work though. It's still too plain. Well, I mean, the Mushroom Kingdom part is just fine. I'm talking about the rest of the overworld. Maybe add more trees, hills, whatever. Just make it more interesting like what you did with the first world. THAT was just so friggin' creative and beautiful. If you could apply that concept with the overworld, then it would be even better. Otherwise, it looks good. But I'm kind of confused... the intro screen says that there are 4 people. Do you mean Mario, Peach, Yoshi and Luigi? (I know it's pretty obvious, but...) XP |

Yes, go for it. Even though I don't hack, I MAY learn a few things from it. It might be enough to encourage me to at least make a small hack. ...what? Of course I'm going to make mistakes in my hack, so I may as well start somewhere! |

You don't bump week/month/year old threads. This thread is almost 2 weeks old. Now a mod will come in and lock this thread... I think If you really have to tell gnkkwinrrul about something that nobody else would benefit/care about, just PM him next time Devil. Don't bump old threads just to leave a message just for one person. |

Wow, a mod should lock this thread before this goes out of control. DAVLLAR isn't a bad person, ya know. Sure, he needs more work with his grammar, english and spelling, but otherwise he's just a novice hacker with lots of questions, and we should try to answer them... or at least point him towards the stickies that contains the information he needs. PS: I'm 23. |

Some sprites doesn't even have the "death" sprite like many does (ie: You hit the swirly spikey ball thingy with a star on and it dies with the bone spiky beetle sprite) so the game selects one sprite out of all others to be the "death" sprite. You COULD edit that one sprite, but then it would probably mess the rest of that sprite. But if you don't plan to use Renzor in your game, then I guess it's alright to go ahead and edit his "death" sprite into Iggy/Lemmy's ball. Just an idea. Ahhh, why am I even bothering responding to this topic when I have no friggin' idea. *hits on head repeatdly with a mallet* x_X |

Simply put, the more exits there are, the more you can get out of the game. Having only a few exits makes the game just so terribly short and boring. But having too many exits can make the game too long and tedious. You have to find a happy medium between the two. I'd say about 80-110. I've never played a hack that had 110+ exits, though, so... |

This is a waste of a thread, I'd sad to say. You could've just asked peter_ac first through a PM before making a thread about it. | |||

It's hard to find all the exits in DW:TLC. The first time I ran through the game, I think I only got about 50 or so. I had to use a FAQ JUST to find the remaining exits. But I got them all. I didn't ask anyone to send me their finished DW:TLC SRM file, did I? EDIT: The question has been answered, so this topic should be closed, don't you think?
