The only problem with that is, it's NOT his fault. Go figure.... This falls on the shoulders of the Pistons fans/people of Detroit.

Don't believe me? The fight was settled before the fans got involved. PLUS! The fans did nothing to try and stop it, they kept adding to the problem. Not the Pacers fault, not the Pistons fault. It's the fans.

Yay chair, are we in the Oakland Colliseum?

If you have access to ESPNews, I suggest you turn it on. Otherwise, wait til SportsCenter, or something...

The fans deserve to be blamed but if you're hit with a cup of beer, you DON'T go up into the stands and go after the guy. Yell at him, complain about it, anything - but don't spark the brawl. I say 15 games minimum.

Artest is a hood like 80% of the NBA players. They let these irresponsible players into the league and toss a ton of money at them and expect them to behave appropriately. It doesn't always work.

You honestly expect anyone to think rationally in the heat of the moment? Hell no, Shaq, Dale Jr, dropping F-bombs everywhere. I don't agree with Artest charging after a fan, but I don't agree with fans attacking the players.

Well, the Pistons/Pacers is hands down the premier rivalry of the NBA now, and their next game is Dec. 25 at Indiana. I'll be the first to predict no further extracurricular activities in this series, but expect ESPN to hype it up like it's the second coming of "Playmakers" or "Season On The Brink".

I doubt it, but they have already promoted the fact that they have the game on SportsCenter.

I will say this, something must and should be done about this. The fans get no free pass on this. Unfortunately for the ~18,950 that weren't involved in the fray, they're gonna suffer the same punishment as the asses that instigated this.

As for the "self restraint," fans are attacking the players, and you don't know their intentions. And as I've already said once, how do you expect anyone to thoroughly think this out in the heat of the moment? It's a judgement call, and the players made the decision they thought was the best. Keep in mind, they weren't looking for a fight. They were winning, Wallace was pissed, the fans were pissed. All Artest is guilty of is a foul on Wallace, that's it. The fans in that arena crossed the line in this case, not the players.

And don't think Artest would've been the lone man to do this, as it has already been told by Stephen A. Smith, Shaq would've done the same thing, as I'm sure everyone else in that exact same situation would have. Do I like it? No.

This is what needs to happen. File charges against those:
1) that threw sucker punches
2) that went after players, physically

For the derbris giving fans:
1) ban from arena for a month
2) I can't think of a #2

As for the players:
1) fine those involved
2) suspend those that threw punches, or tried to add fuel to the fire

Will any of this happen? Probably not....

Probably thought it of a theme of interpretive dance.

Diarrhea flooooows like a river.

Points to who knows where that's from.

"Bad themes to use for an interpretive dance." Enter Ryan Stiles (sp?)

I believe Robin Williams was guesting in that episode. Was pretty good.

Nice hint with the "points" reference too.

Back on topic, any word that is 6 syllables or more is bad, nuff said.

That's the FF2 hack I've been working on, just so you know. Anyway, the progress of this has been smooth. Both King Lettuce and myself are in the process of play-testing to make sure everything is at 100%. And I'm purposing taking my time. I'm hunting down every little detail to make sure it's perfect.
Spoiler:
Because of my superb bug hunting skills with Jade, I'm sure to miss a lot.... Try not to worry though, I won't miss much if anything.

No release date has been set, but I'm hoping it's still within this calendar year. Hoping doesn't mean much though. We'll see though.

I'll re-show the old screenshots I had posted some time ago. I wouldn't expect any new ones up until the hack's release. In fact, these aren't 100% accurate anymore. =\

Spoiler:
And just so you know, the screenshots in this thread have nothing to do with this hack (like windwaker keeps thinking.) Although I supposed I was giving the wrong impression about those screenies. Which is why my comment "I'm surprised this wasn't trashed faster than a re-reggers spam post." wasn't taken to heart. Oh well, what can you do?

All in all, I like the direction of this project. Just one little detail. This is my third hack now, and my second group effort. (My FF6 hack was also with the assistance from King Lettuce.) However, 2 hacks without a name, and we still haven't come up with one for THIS hack. I'm open to suggestions, and I'll take all considerations serious unless it is shear stupidity.

It's difficult to explain the story without spoiling the vast majority of it. That, and the original story wasn't changed.

But, the aim of the hack is to get those that didn't like the original game to get drawn to this. Many issues about the game have been fixed.

Again, note. This hack is meant for those that have never played the game before, or those that couldn't get into it originally.

Is that remix you are talking about also in NSF format? If it's not, you'll have a hard time getting that in. Even if it is, you'd have to insert it by hand. Looking at Zophar's quick, I see no inserter, but that site is horribly organzied. It could be there I never saw it.

Posted on 11-26-04 11:56 AM, in Here's something to be thankful for Link
LONG post...

Happy turkey day everyone! Errr wait, posted after midnight, no longer turkey day. Oops. =\ I am thankful that a new version of Jade was completed today. Although the update is fairly minor, there are a couple of major details (which makes no sense.) So without further ado, here are the details:

  • Character Editor: After ALL of this time, saving "unarmed" into the weapon and shield slots gives problems. You'll need to re-save any character that have nothing equipped in either slot.

  • Text Editor: I believe everything is in place, except length detection. There's even a "Help me!" button if you need some quick pointers. Well, if you are editing the Prototype, I have to ask that you refrain from editing dialogue, as it still isn't not displaying correctly yet. Sorry everyone, I'll get it, one step at a time though.

  • Allowed changing of the pointer value. This should give much more freedom to the experienced users. It won't affect where it currently saves to text, as that will still be the old value (before you changed the pointer.) You'll need to save any text changes with the pointer already where you want it.

  • At this time, I recommend that you change Richard's name to something else. (Prefferably six letters in length.) If you choose to, you'll have to find the four or five instances in the dialogue where his name is spelled out. Obviously, you'll want to change them. Afterwards, find the following table entries, and delete them. They interfere with the normal letters used, so much to the point that Jade will always find these first before the normal ones. Again, this is up to you, but should you choose to, you have more freedom on any new characters you may add to the font. Here are the table entries:
    E8=R
    E9=ic
    EA=h
    EB=a
    EC=r

I also have something else to be thankful for, I'm now releasing the source for every future version of Jade as well. My reasons for not releasing it much sooner, at first the code was just sloppy. I had planned on making this open source from the beginning, but the code was pretty horrible. Now though, it's still horrible. But read-able horrible. Don't flame my code for stupid reasons, it's still not fully optimized. That is all for this holiday, see you for the next!

Sad that everyone jumps on the FF1 half of it.... Muahahahhaahah!

On day one, played two hours:

To do this is quite simple, equip two shields and have a field day attacking. =\ Trust me.

I had completely taken advantage of the system, and abused it promptly. I needed to survive the Captain's in Fynn, and then a trip to Mysidia. With the high level shields, 99% was possible after Minwu casts Blink on the party. Captain's stand no chance, then beat them down with magic. Money earned the easy way.

Day 2: played all day...

Ew...

Really? I was thinking about dancing actually...

Yeah, Leon...

But Leon wants to be Emperor!

Insert your own sick comments there. I was disappointed with this cutscene, personally.

Ahhh, what a difference a day makes. From near start to near end in 8 hours.

Day 3: still playing as I type...

Shut up already...

Ahh, you don't look scary...

See? Now hurry up and die...

Yes.

Ouch!

errr....

--Edit--
Spoiler:

I will say this now, BUILD UP Minwu, Josef, and Ricard! I'm talking 1500+ HP, 300+ MP, level 12+ weapon (whatever you decide) and shield, and level 10+ Cure, Esuna, and Life. (You can buy those three in the added section, but best to build them up when given the chance.)

Everything except inventory carries over to Soul of Rebirth. So, you're gonna have to equip your characters as beefed up as possible. For Josef and Minwu, that's Mysidia's gear. For Ricard, that'll be whatever you find in the Whirlwind (Black Robe, Osmose Scroll if you are lucky enough and one drops.) Before he croaks, give him the Sun Sword and Defender! (I think I'll be killing much easier if I had these.)

Some of these enemies are quite annoying, and I'd love to have a final weapon to assist in killing them. So far I've come across an enemy with 5000 HP and high enough defense where I hit for pretty much nothing. I won, but it was a very sllllllllllllllllllllllllllloooooooooowwww battle. Endurance match anyone? :p This is why you want high level weapons, more hits. More hits, more damage. And unfortunately for me, Minwu is the only one with such stats. Ricard has ok stats, Josef was still in Leather gear...

Killing the enemies won't be hard to start out (even with two sub-par characters) but once you get to the next area......not so much.

There's two "dungeons" that I have seen so far. I'll dub them Mirror Jade and Mirror Pandemonium (that is, if someone else hasn't done so already.) The enemies in Mirror Jade are for the most part pushovers... Mirror Pandemonium is a test though. The first floor will be your building place for a long while. Once everyone has about ~3500 HP and 300+ MP, you can proceed to floor 2. (There's a HUGE spike in difficulty between the two floors, my 5000 HP 180 defense (that's second highest) monster is on floor 2.

Tips for survival in Rebirth:
1) Make sure at least 2 people know Holy and Flare (both are sold in Mirror Jade), Holy is in Mysidia.
2) If you are finding a high defense monster, don't hesitate to use magic. Square made it not suck (finally) so it is an offensive alternative.
3) Conserve MP or stock up on Ethers. I haven't seen anyone with Osmose yet.
4) Don't let me turn you away from this. :p

Enjoy!

Booya, Omega. Only took me 2 trips into the dungeon to take him out. After several failed attempts on my first trip, I took out

this wuss first. Ragnarok really helped too.

After all of this, I only have 6 words.

It really sucks to be Chaos.

I haven't seen too many huge bugs, but a few tiny ones.

Chrono Trigger (SNES only): Must have the Epoch. Just spam the launch/land button while on the Epoch. Since the song isn't loaded until the Epoch is on the ground or in the air, enough times, and you'll get the wrong song for a case. Example: Instead of the Epoch's song in the air, you'll get the current world theme. =\

MC Kids: I only managed to get this to work once. If you are close enough to the bottom of the screen, and not fall off, it still counts as dying.

Adventures of Dino Riki: If you are in "macho" mode, and there is a shitload of enemies near you, and if you can't avoid them, keep getting hit before you lose that "macho" status. That way, you can't die. Once "macho" status is lost, you can die again.

Final Fantasy 7: If your chocobo is close enough to a sub, and you try to get on the bird, the hit detection may be off, and you'll get on the sub instead. In that case, being on land, the game just crashed.

Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past: Once you beat Ganon, go as far up as you can without entering the door (many times). Then fall down. Wrap around room...

I can't think of any others at the moment.

I (very) seriously considered removing header support in PST, and may yet do it.

I made this post so that everyone will know I am unyielding on this point. I strongly encourage others to take the same approach.

Well I don't know what PST is. Besides, without the header, how can you be 100% sure that the rom was a clean dump in the first place?

0x200 useless bytes. Remove them, and 0 useless bytes. A lot of space? No. But since they serve no point, what is the point in keeping them?

Removing the header fixes no bugs, don't make the rom cleaner, it'll just add to confusion. Say someone down the road makes a hack of CT is made with a header intact. You are forcing them to conform to a standard that you set for no real reason, other than "just because," which is an excuse btw.

Lenophis, if you only plan to complain and call me names, please post your comments elsewhere.

---Evil Peer

I find it hard to swallow that 512 bytes could somehow make a difference in file size in the age of 200 gigabyte hard drives.

Reply not necessary, but please read anyway.
