Hey, Im making a video right now for a website and I want to open it like SMB3 with the curtain going up. I have an emulator that can extract a avi file from a game so I figgured I would just use the rom for SMB3. However I when the curtain is half way up mario and luigi appear and I dont want them in the picture. I was wondering if anyone could make a quick rom hack that makes the mario and Luigi sprites (technically just the mario sprite) transparent so they wouldnt be seen. If anyone has a little time, im sure for someone who knows somthing about rom hacking this would be simple, please make this quick alteration and send the file to me I would appreciate it.

Didnt think of that, good idea! Can anyone recomend a NES or SNES emulator that can record AVI video and can toggle sprite layers on and off?

I tried using TLP and I couldnt find all the right sprites... but ill start looking for camtasia then. thanks man

I've been trying to play the rom of earthworm jim on ZSNES and it seems to just not work. The sound is buggy and at random times the game just freezes. Is it a bad rom or is the emulator unable to handle it? If it is a bad rom I'd like to know what i can do about it

My rom does have the [!] behind it. and according to the ZSNES website ive got the latest version. also it freezes up from time to time. I think I do have a bad rom but i dont know where to get a better one (the site i go to has never given me a buggy rom before)

Scan your ROM with NSRT (v3.2 has a GUI) to see if it's a bad one.

Do I just replace my exe with this wip exe? Cause I did that and the game sounds still blows and it freezes randomly. and the other program said the game checks out.

Ya it is more or less a hack, in the sense that is isnt a whole new game engine but just new levels (all the levels are different and there are more of them) and some graphic changes (the famicon disk system changed some of the graphics from the original like those falling platform things.)
However our SMB2 is a hack too as some have pointed out. Either way it doesnt matter. Both were hacks, but our SMB2 introduced some key changes to the mario universe (like shyguys and stuff) so Im alright with us having our version.

You are right that too much of nintendo's GBA lineup is basically a port of their old game onto a newer system but I would not say that nintendo remakes all it's games to a ridiculous extent. It seems to me that with many of the original games that they release are not polished enough and are just a game concept with a character thrown onto the cover. I would really like it if nintendo did remake some of their newer titles to be longer and have better stories. If nintendo didn’t spend so much time inventing new types of games and would use a successful genre of game they have invented then they would make more money and make more gamers happy.

Hey this seemed like a sort of newbie question so I'll post it here. Where can I see the different Icons for each level a board user can get. like goomba, tiny goomba, fire brother ETC. If anyone has a link to show what level has what SMB icon that would be cool to see.

sell sorry about getting in the wrong place. But thanks for your help.

Bummer... I thought that might be the case. I know of some that do fast forward and hoped that someone had taken it upon themselves to do slowdown or more importantly rewind. ohh well I guess. thanks for answering.
