| The downtime this morning was the first one I saw ... I've only been there about a week so far ... maybe it's because I'm still new to the whole thing and don't know the other players much yet, but I haven't noticed any major problems ... except maybe that guild war yesterday (other guild trying to take our castle while we do all the work, then fighting us), but as lame as it was, I still had fun  The EXP rate seems fine to me (the first levels are a little too fast, then it gets just slow enough at the end, unless you allow levels above 99), but I certainly wouldn't mind a card seller or card removal ... maybe job changes too (between the different types, not just upgrades), but I'm not sure about that  I can't think of much yet ... |

| Well, I was just talking to Raf during supper and was thinking that maybe once a month or so the GMs could host major events like a PvP tournament or flea markets or the like. That'd require a good bit of planning, though, to get to work out right. Talking with Emuz over AIM, he seems fine with raising drop and EXP rates if y'all want it done. He's also talking about overhauling the server to use a more stable, more actively developed version (omniAthena, I think is was Raf called it). That will be a major change, though, but it might include some of the features y'all want (the card removal thing, the various NPCs, etc). Another thing they're working on is limiting the number of castles a guild can hold since one guild got like six castles. Some features I'd like to see brought in later are things like making it tougher to fight members of a guild on their home turf, but that's going to require extensive coding, so it's still on my 'gee, that'd be awesome to see done' along with 'download shit to/from your brain.' And, Sofie, if you invited a lot of your friends over, then the current population would be bigger and would include a lot more of your friends. With 20 people on (and Raf and I mostly on when most of y'all are in school or in bed due to timezone differences) you actually have to *work* to find anyone. At any rate, what would you like to see done, specifically, to change the current population? Are there troublemakers you'd like to see warned or banned from the server? If so, what are their names and what exactly have they done that you feel merits that level of action? If people aren't talkative and friendly, what do you think could be done to encourage a more community feel? The community issues aren't really something that can be fixed without a lot of player input and a lot of cooperation and feedback. Phoenix |

| currently, the guilds are overly competitive when it comes to WoE. I think reducing that, and limiting it to only 1 castle obtainable per guild might soften that up. (I just reread your second paragraph. get out of my brain) I have both a log and a screenshot of part of the log on Valermos, the assassin that enjoyed getting my mage killed. I talked to Emuz about it when it happened, he just stopped talking and teleported away. That's enough of a sign to me he didn't give a fuck. I got most of the people that started with me on the notroserver, and none of them appreciated the treatment they got. That's what grounded the whole "we took over pron square" debacle a while ago; players telling us to get out of prontera because it was their town, Kiwibonga jokingly saying he took it over when we accidently all were there (the online guildmembers anyway). This resulted in a verbal fight between most of the male guildmembers and the stuckup asshats in prontera that couldn't handle getting back what they give. Yet only our guild got punished for it, and whoever is in it is automatically considered bad for some reason. That kind of mentality is what bothers me most, as it's both on GM and player sides. |

| talking about morons...that happens yeah...RO has that skill of making people asshats...thanks god I play with nice people, every so and then 1 alchemist appears summoning floras and marine spheres to kill novices appear but then its all right i guess. But the irc...oh god.. THAT gets full of morons...it becomes hell.... |

| The reason I'm currently lookiing at another RO server (read: SupremeRO) is because I'm getting sick and tired of going to Glast Heim, killing two guys, then dying, loosing all the EXP I gained. After draining two of my characters out of zeny while trying to level up, I'll check out notRO again if there is an EXP boost. As for running into assholes, I'm rarely on during WoE, so I don't see that many people. The few I have seen have been very nice. (read: gift of 100kz) |

| I finally got around playing now. Level is 39 (almost 40, I died just before I reached 40... I shouldn't collected that much garbage ) and my job level is 29. Seems like i'm getting addicted to this game... and i've just started. |

He may have teleported out to deal with something or even to find Valermos and talk to him about it. I just pointed this post out to him over AIM and am waiting to see if he replies or not. I realize that you probably think you're telling us everything we need to know (btw, just for the record, I'm not a GM or anything, I'm just Raf's wife and a friend of Emuz's and of the guy who is running the server that RO is on right now), but that's really vague. It's like telling a mechanic that your car 'runs kinda strange' and expecting him to be able to pinpoint the exact problem without any more details from you. The 'taking over Pront' thing sounds to me like something that could have been settled all around by just saying 'fine, if you took it, kill us or kick us out' and walking off. *Everyone* hangs out in the town center in Pront, so I don't see how anyone can claim it as 'theirs.' That sounds extremely silly to me (no offense). What punishment did you get for that, exactly, by which GM, and what guild are you in? So far, I know that I don't consider any guilds better or worse than any others because I don't know enough about the people in them to make a call on it. I just don't understand why someone being a moron and claiming to 'own' Pront would be an issue, but then, I'm pretty unflappable and hard to impress (comes with being a certified old fart like Elric). And, Max has it on point: online games offer anonymity that turn a lot of normally nice people into complete jerks. It's not unique to RO at all. Just check some of the official sites for games like NWN, Unreal, Doom, Quake, etc. There will always be some level of people acting like assholes in an online game; nothing can really get rid of that. The best thing to do is report the assholes and try to avoid them if possible. If it's not possible to avoid them, then try giving them the royal snub-off and maybe, after a while, when they realize that they've isolated themselves and boxed themselves in so that no one outside of their group will work with them (like, say, when they want to join up with a huge party and go MVP hunting), they'll have an 'AH HA!' moment and start acting a bit better (or leave entirely). (I absolutely hate putting off laundry till the last possible moment. it's 1.20 am and I'm washing  )The thing about Valermos is I was whispering to Emuz, he answered me and teleported away. He contacted me through ICQ, and I suppose that part's settled for now. You say it's silly, but try staying calm if you get everyone's back turned to you when you're in Prontera, for no reason at all. And Kiwi was joking, acting exactly as they always did to him. I didn't get punished, because we were still using the same comp at that time (I kicked Adrian to his dad's comp now) You want names it seems, I'll give you some and why I point them out. The first one would be Enozaku, or whatever she's suposed to be called. She rivals Neo's stuckup-ness, and she's the one who got believed without proof (by Neo) when she claimed she was being harassed by Kiwi and Kwan. She uploaded a jpg of a textfile of part of the conversation between them, in which she conviently left out her part of the harrassing she did towards Kiwi and Kwan, if you can call namecalling harassment. When Kwan and Kiwi tried to tell their side of the story, Neo started insulting them and "jailed" them. Adrian just asked him/her (still not sure which gender Neo is, as s/he has both male and female characters) something, in a much politer way than I would've at that point, and got jailed too for backtalking. I suppose that clariefied a bit aswell why I'm glad Neo's barely on. Another one would be Radical Dreamer. She knows more insults than I do XD For someone who managed to reach lvl 99, she sure has little knowledge of how the game is ran, or how to behave. Now, as a result of us not taking unjustified crap, anyone from Acmlmers guild is being generally ignored by a few guilds, mainly the one Enozaku is in, and the one Radical Dreamer is in. I think those are Silent Redemption and something Thieves. An example of this would be me logging on to my priestess, just sitting in Prontera and talking. They decide to sit further away and totally break off conversation just because they see which guild I'm in. And they litterally get up and move down, it's silly, but a bit depressing aswell, as I haven't done anything wrong to them. another example would be how Kwan's assassin(Thor) got a pet and accessory from a guy, untill said guy found out Thor was Kwan. He probably regretted it then XD (what I want to say is as long as people don't know you're a character of someone in our guild, they'll be nice to you.) I've played quite a few online games, and I know there will be always people you can't get along with. But what irks me here is that notro is a fairlytight comunity which is seemingly split in 3; .//hack fangirls/boys that come from the same forum, people from here, and people from, uh, somewhere else. and the first don't like the second, and the 3rd group generally doesn't really care aslong as it doesn't affect them too much. I'm going to stop typing here for the day, I'm losing my train of thoughts pretty fast. Not to mention this took me 20 minutes  |

Well, I'll admit up front that I don't understand why people walking away from you in a game bothers you. I know that I sometimes walk away from the center of Pront because the crowding of the textboxes gets too confusing for me to read, so I'll move down a bit and just read the text as it scrolls instead of dealing with a busy screen. And, my guild (FFLegend) is allied with the Acmlmers, but I'm not on much when everyone else is due to timezone differences and most of my guildmembers are complete newbies to RO (I spend most of my time helping newbies learn to play the game). The stuff between you and the other guilds isn't something that can be resolved easily. It's not something a GM can fix. That's a personal dispute between you and some other people and it's really up to you all to resolve it. The best that any of the GMs could do is say 'be civil' and leave it at that. They can't make the RD guild or the Phantom Thieves like you or Kwan or Kiwi or anyone else. It's a bit like a messageboard or IRC channel. The GMs (or mods or ops) can't do everything and most of the personal stuff is up to you. You also shouldn't let little things like some person who doesn't know you from Adam walking off from you on an Internet game bug you, IMO. The problems wrt to the 'cliques' and the 'community' are ultimately up to players to solve. The GMs can't run around and act like hall monitors all the time and make everyone be friends with everyone else. If you act cool and are nice and help others out, then it won't matter a hill of beans what someone else says about you in the long run because your actions will far outweigh their words. Yes, the server is small, but it's up to everyone to work to make the community on it be open to all. That's not something you can reasonably expect others to do for you. The issue of building an open, friendly, welcoming community really is one of where if you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. If you want things to change, then you're going to have to stick around, ignore the petty slights, and work to show people that the Acmlmer's guild is not a bad thing and that the members are, overall, pretty cool. Holding on to grudges, sweating the small stuff, and letting little things get to you are counterproductive to that goal. If you want people to look at you and think 'hey, there's Sofie, she's pretty cool,' then you've got to work to make them see that. Jumping ship and going to another server ultimately means that you are going to let the RDs and PTs 'win' and let them decide what others on the server think about you since you won't be there to demonstrate that they are wrong. | Wouldn't even attempt saying much...as the notRO stuff has been deleted off her drive anyways...so...not like there's a lot you could probably tell her right now that she'll be wanting to listen to...along with quite a few other people that have left because of whatever problems. Only reasons I did it was the fact that everyone else that I hang with moved and it was less space that was taken up on my drive...simple as that with no explanations needed...apparently whatever problems they have are something that aren't going to be cured by talking it out...so you might as well hold off on saying anything just for the sake of saving your breath. |

| PHOENIX! *huggles* Anyway, I have a few suggestions I'd like to make, but the problem is, I don't know who to contact, or even where to contact them. A very good point was brought up to me last night by Cyrus: Emuz is ALWAYS logged onto AIM, but he's NOT always at the PC. Should we start a thread in here where we can post suggestions & feedback? Maybe setup a community e-mail account that Emuz & Raf can access, and that we can e-mail out suggestions to? I dunno. Anyway, as soon as I know who & when to contact, I got some ideas... As for trouble with other players, I generally don't talk to people I don't know, most of whom are from here, so I really don't have to worry about having conflits. I guess Acmlm & I are alike in that respect. |

For the record, I haven't had any problems with most people on newRO. Not even Neo.  ...except Valermos. I think he (is he Khalitzberg as well?) was skill spamming in town a few days ago (Enchant Poison X 40), and when I called him on it and told him it was against the rules, his response was that he "didn't care" if it was against the rules. So if you want to nuke him, go RIGHT ahead.  I dunno... I think you guys can turn newRO into something good, so I'm definitely going to stay. I'm probably going to try the other server though, just because the board members are on there now. |

| And those guys actually seem nice to me ... I was fighting monsters west of Niflheim and Hiirou came to me, we talked for a while (I wanted to save the full chat, but the first half got lost) about the Acmlmers quitting and what happened yesterday, then other stuff ... I later saw him again with a few others in Prontera, none of them said crap to me goku1238 (another of them) was with Skiffles earlier, again he seemed fine with me when I saw him ... I'm slowly on my way to Level 99, "borrowed" some things from Kwan (mostly hats, cards and the tuxedo) ... I'm at 93 now and the levels are growing longer than ever, but I can still level up every few hours if I keep going ... Oh, and about the skill spamming, is it against the rules to use Endure about 40 times in 5 seconds? I tend to do that when I'm bored and near a dog, it's noisy but harmless |

| At Lv. 97 with my 'sin. Jizzy's at 99 with his sin. I got about 35 Oris...about 8 or 9 clips...went through quite a bit of Elunium tonight...hmm...anything else worth mentioning? Tis fun. |
