What I was INTENDING to do was that should I get votes in the field of Christian/Muslim/Jew and other ambiguous labels, I would poll the users individually and then present the statistics to everyone in the end. You can tell me I'm a Protestant, I'll spit on your grave. I'm a papist through and through. If you don't like the way people see their religions don't ask about their religions. If you don't like my opinion, then don't quash it. ||bass, if you decide to alter people's votes and such (after mine) I do reserve my right as a local moderator to close this thread. Edit:: No flaming. We don't need that stuff in this forum. The other members will hold their tongues, you need to hold yours. (edited by Ziffski on 11-30-04 09:31 AM) |

(Wow... suddenly I think I feel a little more mature...) Anyways, I am Christian, I mean I was born in Kansas... I am either Protastant Christian or Catholic Christian... I really don't know if I can count myself as any relgion (and thus why I am not voting) as I dont' go to church, I do believe in the stuff... I can see thing through other ways... I think the best thing to call me is open minded. I have looked into many religions, even though I was born Catholic I used to go to a non Catholic Christian church, and I have no clue what I fit into. Crap I'm not making any sense. Ok, I'm Christian of some sort I'm sure, I'll vote when I get home, can't log in at school. |

First, kudos to ||bass for all the options. Second, I couldn't find my religion. I believe in Deism (sometimes incorrectly referred to as Freethought). The religion appeared as a result of the rise of natural sciences, Sir Isaac Newton's, Galileo's, and Copernicus's discoveries, etc. etc. At that time, some people started believeing science could prove everything, even God, and such, a lot of philosphers started believeing in God based on rational, scientific grounds. The first Deists were Christians, believeing in a Christian God and Christian belief-systems, but basing their faith on logic and rational thought. Modern Deists, however, are not Christian. Most Modern Deists, me included, believe God to be a socalled "divine watchmaker" or a "first cause". God is some sort of power, that does not exist in human form, that created the universe, and then withdrew itself from its creation. God does not create miracles or interfere in any way with the world, and thus prayer is useless, if you follow a Deist belief-set. Deists do not organize, as Deists do not hold belief in holy rituals, churches, etc. etc. |

Well, I believe that there is no Gods, and they didn't create the world. How everything was created, I know nothing about. So, that makes me an atheist. However, I do also believe that it is our right to be nice to our friends, or the ones that are nice to us, and be mean to the ones that are mean to us, or our enemies. Yeah, that's some of what Satanists believe in, however, since I do not believe in any Gods or Deities, I do not believe in Satan. I believe that the good and evil is within the humans themselves, and that it is not represented by Gods. I also believe in reincarnation, and karma. The only bad thing you can do, without suffering consequenses would be to get revenge on your enemies. They did wrong first, they deserve it. I'm not sure what kind of religion this is, though.. *edit: Slight typo. (edited by Rad King Liz on 11-30-04 12:01 PM) |

So Ziff, if I ask you if you're a Christian, do you respond "yes" "no" or "other"? | |||

Ziff, i'll try to use a simple example here: Does japanese people are thee same as chinese people? Nope, but they're all asian, want you or not. Does catholics are the same as protestants? No but they are all Christians, want you or not. Christian adj. 1. Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. n. 1. One who professes belief in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. 2. One who lives according to the teachings of Jesus. |

Who keeps moving this thread all over the place? First it was in General Chat, then World Affairs, then General again, and now it's gone into the World Affairs section for the second time Anyhow, what you said, knuck, is quite true. Did you copy that from another site, because the wording's kind of odd Not to say that you can't write well or anything, but here's what I think the first two things are supposed to say (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong): Are Japanese people the same as Chinese people? Nope, but they're all asian, whether you like that or not. Are Catholics the same as Protestants? No, but they are all Christians, whether you like that or not. Hopefully that makes a bit more sense The only thing I consider different about all the types of Christianity, or any other religion for that matter, is the name of them, like Catholics and Protestants. They all believe in Jesus, and they all believe they're going to heaven or hell when they die, etc. Different denominations may go about certain things differently, but they're still basically the same. Stop moving my thread. It is not a discussion of world affairs nor is it a debate. It's a survey that I need as many people to see as possible. If it gets moved again, I will make the DB field for this thread's location read-only. |

I did (in a strangely appropriate post.) If you guys really have something against it I'll remove it though... Not that it really matters now, on default settings we're past the page that has it as of this post. (edited by Kratos Aurion on 11-30-04 03:02 PM) |

No, I mean posts. As in, how many times you've posted today when it's otherwise been relatively inactive. |
