CSS problems tend to happen when it fails to load [coughwootestcough]. The page just completely fucks up [leaving wierd trails if you try and scroll it] because IE jsut sucks. And I'm pretty sure they stopped IE for Mac develompent... am I wrong? Can someone verify this? But on the whole .txt thing, Opera's ahead of Mozilla. Again. |

Well sometimes on this board the CSS layouts takes forever to load in IE (and without any good reason sometimes ), why it takes forever in IE, but not in Firefox is a mystery for me. Firefox seems to handle CSS layouts better when they are down to. And there is IE for Macintosh, I think it's not supported anymore thought. |

The only layout that I've had a problem loading here is yours. Funny that should come up.

What's odd: The IE for Mac completely supports the PNG format. Yet, the Windows version still doesn't support most of PNG's features. WTF?

It was probably not patched and it's now being abused by people with crappy hosting or image generators too much to be taken out. Good job. The fact is, that IE by using this behavior it's doing the wrong thing. Mozilla is aimed at getting all these standards right and is not likely to break pretty basic file type handling just so some cheap ass can save three bucks per month. Regarding POS: - Mozilla has been continually updated for the last six years about every other month. IE 6.0 was out in early 2002, and the next MINOR update will be 6.05 which will be XP SP2 only. It will only be used to patch flaws or exploits. - That above us is an alpha transparent PNG. Alpha transparent PNGs have been around more or less since 1995. It was implemented in the first 10 months of the Mozilla project, but it's not yet implemented into IE. This is a good example of how slow IE is to adopt these things that would be pretty neat. Empty your mind. Save your favorites/bookmarks to a file. Download Mozilla Firefox and use it for two weeks. If you still think it's a POS, then you will atleast have tried it, and you will not just be some whineass whose logic goes "if I'm too lazy to try it, it surely must suck". |

And that's an example of a nice alpha channel gradient in PNG. (IE people can't see it correctly) |

Nice i am a wootest badge there. Showed up flawlessly in my brower. Oh, that would be IE by the way. Oh, and for your information, Firefox blows. It loads pages slower than IE and has a bunch of unncessary plug-ins. The whole "plug-ins" arguement doesn't count. 98% of them are useless bullshit. Oh wow, I have a plug-in that tells what time it is in Guatamala! FIREFOX FUCKING OWNS YOUR ASS!!11 "Download Mozilla Firefox and use it for two weeks. " I only tried it for one week. Why only one week? Because the damn thing broke on me. It wont load ANYTHING now. Fluke? Nope. Happened twice. Goodbye Firefox, nice try. The only thing I found that gave it some saving grace was tabbed browsing. But that's about it. |

Hmm... *checks Jesper's PNG in IE* Nope. Sorry, Legion, but IE does not display it correctly. |

Sounds like something did get broken for you, it works faster for me. I would reccomend to goto C:\Documents and Settings\Emil\Application Data and delete the Phoenix, and try Firefox again. The problems you described describs what faulty plugins can do. Don't say that IE is better becuse of the plugins not working. I know plugins for IE that have made IE slow/non working. That wootest badge is supposed to be transparent, not grey coloured... |

I hated Firefox. Granted, yes, it was ... okay ... for a few ... days... it very quickly crashed to the point it was useless. Unless you call hogging my GIF/JPG/PNG associations, and on load displaing NOTHING [not even a menu, just white] useful. I prefer Opera. Faster than IE for loading [esp. with dialup ]... Legion: If the scheme you use has a purple BG, it'll be purple. Or whatever color jesp's layout is. If it displays incorrectly, it'll be black on dark blue. I just tested it. It's supposed to have the same colour as the backround Legion, Why Firefox is slow is a mystery for me, there must be a error somewhere. But have you deleted the Phoneix folder from Application Data? That may work... But after all, Firefox is not finished... current problems may disappear in version 1.0. At least try it again when that version is released Legion. In IE it will be gray, in Firefox it's transparent. Fully. (edited by ^_____ |

Originally posted by Xkeeper I wasn't logged in at the time, hence no layouts or schemes. Sounds to me like you have to perform a list of objectives to get the image to display properly. And Jesper, you're bragging about it? All the small things that are wrong with Firefox add up too. Scrolling gets messed up sometimes, it's display of tables is downright horrid most of the time, it's user interface is cluttered and highly unorganized... things such as that really make it piss-poor. The only reason why it's so popular is because of the pop-up blocker (which is easily beaten by Googles) and the tabbed messaging. |

I use becuse how fast it loads images, it dosen't loads the images faster. But it caches them better. I wonder, Legion which computer do you have? On one computer I tested Firefox it actually had problems with scrolling. But only on that one. From my personaly experince, you shouldn't use Firefox if you have anything under 400 Mhz. I don't use Firefox only for pop-up blocking and tabbed browsing. (Which are very nice, though.) I use it manly because it conforms to nearly all Web standards in existence. IE does not, especially with a rendering engine that was last updated in version 4.0 (1997). I don't know what you've done to your computer... but it mainly sounds like you're just being plagued by Windows. |
