The shadowy cat monster recoiled from the noodles that had managed to lodge themselves into its eye, and let out a bellow that contained the anguish of a thousand ancient evils.

Netherworld Hunter: RRRRAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! (Ouch, you stupid jerk! You'll pay for this! You'll pay with your life!!!)

The hunter swiftly snatched a bowl of soup off of a table, and deftly launched it to the nearest person, burning with a black, fiery contempt that could only be matched by the might of an unholy dragon. It then ran off, sobbing quietly.

Many of the pirates cowered before the plasma attack; some drew shields, others used powerful space boots to leap over it. When the attack finished, there were five piles of ash where there once stood pirates.

Still, the pirates recovered from their fear as quickly as it had taken them. A ring was already formed around Phantron, and some of those near the back activated force fields around themselves for cover as they readied other attacks. Two pirates charged forward to Phantron, from separate sides. One was armed with large scimitars (curved swords) and had heavy armor, and the other had one odd lance that glowed with electricity and was propelled by rocket boots.

High up in the airship, the noise and lights did not go unnoticed.

As the two charging pirates passed through Phantron's image, they both tried to stop. The one wielding the scimitars halted, but the other, powered by the boots, had a harder time stopping, and skewered his comrade with his electric blade.

Two of the three pirates near the entrance had force fields up, so the plasma shots bounced off and randomly hit the walls of the tunnel. However, the third unfortunate one was vaporized in his spot!

Two pirates that were close to the exit pulled out glowing blue devices and dropped them onto the ground. With a flash, hi-tech cannons appeared in the spot that the spheres had hit the ground! The pirates positioned the cannons to separate copies of Phantron, and fired, unleashed bolts of very powerful crackling gamma pulses! One of the shots was off, and burned a hole into the wall that it hit, but the other seemed to be accurately heading for one of the copies...let's call it Phantron 1.

Six more men were already firing with rifles at the Phantrons, about two to each copy.

The electric blade pirate doubled back, and again charged at Phantron 2, quickly propelled by his rocket boots!

Roland, the current leader, drew a very large gun-like weapon and aimed it at Phantron 3, but didn

OOC: Yeah, it's basically like the pirates are typical henchmen - expendable, and not very skilled, but Jackson and Roland are the heroes. They'll be harder.
---

The missile never got a chance to explode. Roland had seen it coming, and was always prepared for large attacks like these. He propped his weapon on his shoulder, and with his free hand pulled out a small hand-held device, which he pointed at the on-coming missile. With a click of the button, an odd bolt of lightning shot out of the end, made contact with the missile, and stopped it right where it was in the air. The missile fell to the ground, rendered harmless by the momentary effect of slo-time. Roland pocketed the item, and shot a white ball of energy at Phantron 3, the one who shot the missile.

The cannon that had shot the gamma pulse exploded when it was struck with the plasma, since it was already overheated, and the pirate behind it was thrown backward, stunned. The other cannon was melted considerably, and the pirate that controlled it fired a green laser (stronger than red, but lesser than blue) at Phantron 2 with his laser pistol.

Again, the six rifle-wielding pirates shot at the Phantron copies, 2 to each. The group firing at Phantron 1 was guarded by force fields.

The electric lance pirate teamed up with a pirate that held an X-ray gun, which could pierce through defenses, and both attacked Phantron 2.

Finally, one of the two pirates in the back, guarding the exit, threw a strange trapper-grenade at Phantron 1, with the intention of having it actually land NEXT to her. If it did, then it would generate a large force field, trapping the Phantron inside with no escape. Things could go in the field, but not out. He, as well as the other two, had force fields.

12 pirates + Roland left, 1 stunned

---

At a distance down the tunnel, Jackson heard the commotion. Perhaps the machine was actually as powerful as it claimed?

OOC: ...Creepy .
---

Thousands of years of knowledge...ancient secrets...complex DNA codes...this was all too much for the pirates, and all, save for three, fell over, unconscious from the mental overload. The other three were Roland and two other pirates, the one who threw the trapper grenade and a burly pirate with an entire mechanical right arm. The two were armed with special devices in their brains that disallowed unauthorized mental signals, while Roland just seemed able to cope with the knowledge without fainting. They stared in disbelief, not knowing what happened to their team. One activated a distress signal, which alerted every pirate Jackson commanded, including himself, of the danger they faced.

The Basilisk, high in the air, immediately lowered its altitude, getting closer to the mine so it could provide reinforcements and make a quick getaway.

Jackson had just reached the end chamber when he received the distress signal. He cursed his luck, but stayed a moment longer. He wasn't about to leave empty-handed after all of the trouble he went through to get to the chamber. At the end of the chamber was a bizarre statue of some kind of angel. Jackson moved closer to inspect it, and found a peculiar shape carved out of the base, just above some foreign writing. The shape was familiar to him, though. From out of his cloak he pulled his void pack, which could store an infinite amount of objects inside of it, and produced a glimmering gem from the pack. After inspecting the gem to make sure that it matched the socket in the statue, he hurriedly began reading the runes.

Roland held his hand to his head from all that he had learned, taking a moment to cope with it all. The remaining two pirates stupidly shot at Phantron with lasers, which of course didn't have any effect. After a few seconds, Roland spoke up.

Roland: No, use physical attack! Force!

The other two pirates were confused, but obeyed Roland, who knew all that Phantron did, which included her weakness. The mechanical armed one drew an enormous sword, one that no human could possibly wield, and swung it at Phantron, while the other fired at her with a special sound gun. The gun would fire a beam of concentrated sound, sort of like light, that could pulverize a ten-foot thick diamond wall to rubble in seconds.

Roland stood back, reviewing the concept of a fighting style he had just learned, and liked it immediately.

Already, that one technique opened many doors for Roland in the coming RPG...

As soon as Mewquas started his Back Buster technique, a weird green, amorphous shield grew out of the end of Cyberaptor's stick and formed a sphere around him. Cyberaptor did keep his focus on the smaller rocks in front of him, but the antenna on his back picked up the incoming rock as soon as it started moving.

Computer: What technology is this to make the rocks float? It doesn't make sense!
Cyberaptor: Grark!
Computer: I cannot tell. It is purely illogical to my system.

Cyberaptor sustained his shield as the small rocks fell at him. All of them were disintegrated. However, for the big rock, his antenna came out and shot out a green beam at the rock as it fell toward Cyberaptor. Within a second, the rock was gone, transformed from matter to data and stored inside Cyberaptor's computer. A single pebble managed to penetrate the shield, though, and fell onto Cyberaptor's head with a light clunk. -1 HP.

Cyberaptor grinned again as Computer spoke for him.

Computer: That was Matter-to-Data technology. Your race utilizes it, but never for combat! ...Uh

Cyberaptor turned and saw the rockets coming, and appropriately activated his MTD antenna. It shot another green beam forward, aimed at the rockets, and sucked them up one-by-one! A small meter on Cyberaptor's armor grew brighter, indicating it had more power.

Computer: The enemy has a numerical advantage once more. The battle will not be easy. Activate split?
Cyberaptor: ...

Cyberaptor thought for a moment, then confirmed the idea. There was a WOOSH sound as some locks released on Cyberaptor's armor, then... the whole thing leapt off of him! Now, Cyberaptor stood in much lighter armor, holding his Cyberstaff for a weapon, while his heavier armor, controlled by Computer, floated beside him while powered by the jetpack! In this form, Cyberaptor was much faster and more agile, since he lost his heavy armor and computer, but he obviously had a lower defense. Also, he couldn't use his gunclaw weapons.

Cyberaptor: Rarg! Grr!
Computer: Confirmed. I will attack the robot.

Cyberaptor's armor flew closer to SIR, and then its left gun shot a beam of white energy!

Meanwhile, Cyberaptor chuckled in a weird sort of way, pressed his claw on a button on his staff, and turned invisible to every known spectrum! After this, he very silently crept off to the side, but waited for Mewquas to move.

"My arm has absolutely no problem because I threw my lightsaber into the hole."
In the fifteen seconds that the lava was around Kyle, Xzavien had his lightsaber in there and was slashing and slashing at the charging Mage.

OOC: If you threw it in, then how were you slashing?
-----

All Xzavien saw when he spoke aloud was a quick, dark blue shadow that looked human fly by quickly, then nothing.

When Xzavien threw his lightsaber, it passed the first spinning disc, but hit the second one, and flew off of the platform! Still, he was able to draw it back to his hand in time before it fell in the pit. Kyle got up and brushed himself off - pointlessly, since he wasn't dirty...

Kyle: Okay, I think I know who that is. Don't worry about it, I can handle him after this battle. Ready? Let's finish this!

Kyle looked at the scoreboard thingy and noted that little time was left for the battle. Kyle waited for Xzavien to be ready, and then pointed his hands left and right! Suddenly, two platforms floated sideways, so they were taller than longer, and moved into Xzavien's position to squish him flat! This would deal a WHOLE lotta damage...

Down in the deepest part of the mine, Jackson felt the distress signal continue...and the explosion in the tunnel! But he was too close to turn back. Mounds of treasure, magic, and weapons were likely just beyond the very wall in front of him! Quickly, he inserted the gem into the statue, which started to glow a faint teal color...

Jackson: Come on! I don't have time for this!!!

Back with Phantron and the pirates, the explosion went unhindered. It consumed all of the pirates, leaving them dead or doomed to die, save for Roland. Out of a newly found instinct, he quickly created a bizarre magic shield that glowed blue with water, and defended him entirely from any damage of the explosion. The tunnel shook violently, and chunks of rock fell here and there...yet it stood. It was a bit stronger than it looked...however, one more explosion could cause the whole thing to cave in .

Roland dispelled the shield, and slowly walked toward Phantron, who was far down the tunnel.

Roland: I'll give you one chance to surrender and forget all that you've seen. You've almost no chance to fight your way out of here...over a hundred more pirates are above our very heads right now, drawn to a signal, not to mention Jackson himself. Plus, we've got a whole fleet of airships that could be here in upwards of five minutes. And, what

Kyle: Gah!!!

Kyle tripped over out of surprise, and the platforms went spiraling harmlessly into the lava, away from Xzavien. The mage steadied himself, stood up straight, and brought the discs back behind him with the blades pulled inside.

Kyle: All right then, it's over. Gotta say, mac, you're pretty good. This was fun. Sorry I couldn't be around so much...but at least my problem was fixed near the end of this match. Just incase you're wondering -

Kyle quickly did some math in his head.

Kyle: I was at 20% HP by the finish. Yep.

Now that the match was over, Kyle popped open some healing potions and mana potions, and gulped them down.

Blue Breegull reached into his mini-backpack and pulled out a pair of sneakers, which would increase his speed. He had them on, when -

THONK

Blue tumbled over some rocks, and noticed his wand go flying into the stream. Also, the anvil swerved around and came right back at him.

Blue: Ugh. Still, no great loss - I got these!!!

Blue ran at a super-fast speed toward Jaques, and then back flipped to gain air. Once flying, he dived at Jaques at an incredible speed toward him! This attack would deal heavy damage.

Roland was quite powerless before the attack, and was sent tumbling away down the tunnel, lifeless. Yes, he was definitely dead. However, Phantron's work wasn't finished yet - another 20 pirates poured into the tunnel, and there were many more behind them that couldn't fit inside yet. They all looked from Phantron, to Roland's corpse... and then opened fire! They were all armed with normal rifles, lasers, grenade launchers, and one even had a plasma gun. How it all wouldn't help them...

Suddenly, the statue Jackson was working with exploded into a teal light! The whole mine shook everywhere as a beam of energy extended vertically from the top of the statue, and then burned a hole clean through the cavern ceiling! From the outside world, the gigantic beam of light could be seen from practically any point within 500 miles. The signal was set

...This is awesome.
*Ehem*, right, so, I'm cool with Phantron being in the RP as a villian or whatever. For this story to thrive best, it will need many characters...have you ever seen Rat Race, Zerodius?
---

Apparition: ...Your first step will take place in the Jungle, just to the West of this site. Inside it you will locate the Nightmare Weed. Below its base is the second key, which will reveal where you must travel from there. The plant is a terrible foe, and cannot be defeated without proper equipment.

The transparent projection before Jackson paused for a moment, and he suspected that the message was over. However, a small ring was flung from the statue to him, and he swiftly caught it in his hand.

Apparition: To slay the Nightmare Weed, take the Radio Ring, the first key. Its powers will render the Nightmare Weed harmless, if wielded properly. Also, take this map.

On cue, an old map was also flung in his direction, which was again caught by Jackson.

Apparition: On the map is the location of every key. Value it, and do not lose it. It serves more purposes than one.
Go now, and prove yourself. But remember this crucial advice

Let me get this out of the way right off the bat: This is not my first RP at a forum, so fear not! I've been in countless RPs over the course of about 4 years now, so I have much experience.

With that said, I'll now explain the rules.

Basically, this is a gigantic race to the finish game, the prize being the treasure, as mentioned in the title. You are allowed to team up into infinitely large groups, and there will at least be three groups racing - I'll see to that. You can also go solo, if you see a greater advantage like that. However, I uh, predict more adventure and success for you if you side with one of my three groups . Bring in as many characters as you want, too - this RP will be all the better with more competition!
The race will take place on one island, which is full of all of those basic clich

Blue was a master flyer, and swerved out of the way of the dagger long before he reached it. Also, with the turning motion, he was able to face the anvil just as it reached him. Quickly, he pulled out his trusty void pack, a bag that can store an infinite number of objects. The anvil flew inside, and Blue closed the bag.

Blue: Good. I've never been one to waste anvils.

Blue flew over to the small mountain and landed on it, and from there spat out two more nuclear eggs at Jaques. Also, the distance from Jaques gave him time to fire a few more projectiles - a water egg, which would deal little damage, followed by a thunder egg, which deal a whole bunch of damage - if Jaques was hit by the water egg.

Blue: That'll hold you off...but now, I don't need a staff for magic.

Blue also pulled out a simple brown bag, with which he could cast the very same magic as with the wand. He didn't have any more time to do anything, though.

Normal rules here...of course. You'll be fighting up to three people, so you might want to use multiple characters or team up with a friend.
-----

After a long day...er, month, of watching battles in the tournament, Spaky, Spiky, and Speeky found themselves faced with a tremendous problem - hunger. After a bit of wandering around the complex, they soon found themselves in the cafeteria, but decided it would be too unhealthy to eat there, what with the mess that the food fight had left. So they wandered back out into the hall to devise another plan for eating.

Spiky: Does anyone have any Cheatos?
Spaky: If I had some, I'd already of eaten them. Duh.
Spiky: Oh darn.

The tallest, greenest one, Speeky, thought long and hard, but provided some ideas for his ravenous comrades.

Speeky: Well, the cafeteria is out, so we have two options - one, we could wander the halls in search of prey to kill and eat, perhaps a mouse or a new member...or two, we eat Spaky.
Spaky: I like the sound of tha - wait, NO I DON'T!!!

Spiky sat down on the floor and started nibbling on his tail thoughtfully.

Spiky: Umm...okay, normally I'm all for justice and goodness, but as this is soon to be a life-or-death situation, maybe we could...uh...
Spaky: Eh, what? Spit it out!
Spiky: Er... I don't know, maybe just...drop by the kitchen and sneak some snacks.... Or not, you know, I'm fine starving.

Speeky didn't seem too pleased with the idea, but all of his involved cannibalism to some degree, so he couldn't complain.

Speeky: All right, we'll just stop by for a moment, but I'll write a check for the nice cooks. That cafeteria was too dangerous.

The three of them walked single file over to the door to the kitchen, looked both ways down the hall, and quickly piled in.

The vast amounts of food they saw upon entering nearly made their mouths overflow with saliva.

Spaky: L-look at this poultry! Chicken, turkey, duck, ostrich, breegull...!

He ran over to the appropriate freezer, where there were mounds of the type stacked neatly over one another.

Speeky: And there's an excellent veggie section too! Potatoes, broccoli, celery... Look how big this one carrot is!

Speeky happily patted a carrot that had somehow grown to over twice his size.

Spiky: This place is great! Look at these forks!!!

Spiky held up a fork and observed its fine craftsmanship.

Spaky: Boys...tonight, we feast! Spiky! This was your best idea ever!

Spaky began piling as many food items as he could carry on his arms, while Speeky hurriedly scribbled down his signature on a check and taped it on the counter.

However, one thing caught Spiky's eye that changed the whole course of events that evening. Nested at the top of a tall shelf was a delicious cherry pie...it beckoned to him. He couldn't resist! Before he knew it, he had already climbed halfway up the shelf, but he stopped there. Many things scared Spiky, and heights were near the very top of the list.

Spiky: Uh...uh-oh! What was I thinking?! Help, guys!!!

The world wobbled below him like some kind of crooked hippo. The nervous lizard stupidly covered his eyes with his hands, which of course made it impossible for him to continue holding on to the shelf, which of course meant he fell down to the floor, bumping into the adjacent shelf on the way.

The shelf, stacked to the tip-top with boxes of food, wobbled dangerously. Spiky held his breath and prayed as it leaned over...over...over...

And fell, crashing into the next shelf, which in turn crashed into the next, which continued the process until virtually the entire kitchen was a delicious mess.

Spaky and Speeky stopped their joyous foraging and writing at once, and shakily turned around to face the rest of the kitchen.

Speeky:...
Spaky:...
Speeky:...Er...
Spaky: Spiky!!! What have you done?! Quickly, Speeky, we've gotta get out of here before we're spotted!

Too late! The door to the kitchen was already opening!

Speeky: Oh no
