I have been here for over 3 years. I joined in 2002 under the name Lord Ziff the Amazing. I have lots of colourful history at this board, I am widely respected (if not slightly disliked) and have generally stood as a good member who cared about the safety of the board and the happiness of the posters. These have allowed me to become an outstanding and integral member of the community. I have worked hard to ensure (even prior to my job as a moderator for the World Affairs) that people were treated fairly. I am a procedural stickler and really think that we need constant input on the rules and a more in touch user base to run this board more effectively. My skills as a moderator have been tested. Ever so slightly. I have had to put up with beligerent members, and managed to talk them down. I have managed to co-exist as peacefully as a sloth with algae on its belly with my political opposites, and are on fairly good terms with most of them. That said, I'm not going to do anything drastic (unless it is a necessity and absolutely needed). I have a very slow temper and rarely get frothing angry at things. I understand the pulse of this community, and understand the interactions of various posters to each other. Very rarely am I wrong on this front. I also hold in high regard every user on this board. I have put forward plans, and am still formulating more plans, on how to make the board more controlled by the user. This, I feel, will allow the staff to be freed up to review actions on the board. If the user can control the policy to even a small degree this will greatly allow the staff to more closely examine the board as a functioning whole and how the staff can better care for it. I know what to do as a moderator. Originally I was cautious, but I now have a good understanding of what must be done. If a user flames, edit their post if it is too vulgar or flame worthy. If it can stay, then you give them a stern warning. I also am not too quick to close threads unless it becomes a brutal argument of circular logic and useless debate that is more of a hinderance than anything. Such events rarely occur, and I have been fast acting to ensure that my fellow staffers are aware of what is happening. I have a lot of fun doing this. I feel that although it is a job, I feel that it can also be a good laugh too. But that should not be taken that I abuse my powers far from that. In fact, I don't see my position as something of a direct job, or a privelege. I think of it as a duty. The community has chosen me to help them, and it is my duty, my responsibility, and my cause to do this to my best ability. I have also come to realize the need for communication. As such, I will make it an increased perogative to maintain a constant presence on IRC so that people can address concerns, and to be available on AIM as well as regularly check the Private Area. This will be further increased because, if selected for a Full Mod, I'll need to monitor the entire board (something I do now, but just not consistently). There are many things that I have decided to change about my habits and I will do my best to do. Additionally, I keep in close communication with other staff members, and talk about my decisions as a staffer. This allows me to gain extra closure. (edited by Ziff on 06-12-05 03:50 PM) |

Jei - I can. There have been lots of fakes of people coming back to the dead through history. Many in this century. There is also the constant reincarnation of Siharta Guatama. What make's Jesus' ressurection remarkable is that it is recorded by the Roman Empire, Greek merchants, Pagan groups, Jewish sources and Alexandrian records that were translated after the Crusades. That's what is incredible. The actual sources, not the amount.
