Hello, I've been watching all of these cool hacks since May so I decided to take up ROM hacking for myself. I know the basics on editing text, Graphics, & levels for various editors, moslty the SMB series. My favorite hack is Waluigi's Adventure. Well my question is, in Super Mario Bros. how does one make Mario stand when he is small, big & when Mario ducks down like in Super Mario Bros. 3? Are there any documents where I can learn to do this for SMB1? I went to Zophar's Domain & I went to the Rom Hacking Repository to see if they had a document, but no such luck.

I don't want to bother him, he looks too important to be bothered with anyone, but thanks anyway Googie.

MathOnNapkins I know how to use a hex editor, I use Hexecute Win. I also have Tile Layer Pro to open the ROM to edit the graphics.

*EDIT* I played with my smb hack exactly how Acmlm did his strange Mario hack. it looks all distorted but I place the sprites like Acmlm's hack. How do I change it in hex?

Nice looking pictures, I know that I will like this hack very much. Is the first world still going to be a Goomba theme? I remember reading a while back that the first world will be a Goomba world.

I tried this editor & I must say that this right here is the best editor for hacking Super Mario Bros. 3, it is so user friendly. I can hardly wait for this editor to be perfected. I am sorry to ask you this question Hukka, have you considered making an editor similar to this for Super Mario Bros. 2? Well, keep up the outstanding work.

Um, is there another SMB2 editor besides Acmlm's SMB2D? I looked on Zophar's Domain for one but to no avail. Or is anyone working on an editor for SMB2?

Hello all, I've been using an editor called Rock N Roll (MM1 Level Editor) I just started using it today. Well, I would like to know if there are any utilities that could extract GFX from another MM game or MM hack & add those gfx into my own MM1 hack? When I would open up the ROM with TLP, everything looks out of place. I want to use level graphics from other MM games & add them to my MM1 hack.

Oh I see, Thank you Chickenlump. But let's say I found a MM1 hack from another country & I wanted to replaced those graphics to use in my MM1 hack, it should be pretty easy to pull then. Did anyone else in this forum ever did a MM1 hack, with replaced graphics?

I'm just shocked that Waluigi's Adventure didn't win for best SMB1 hack, it's an awsome SMB1 hack that has plenty of challenges, & it didn't win anything at all. I thought that the ROM hacking community had better judgement. Guess I was wrong.

Like Xkeeper would say, How pathetic.

I have to agree with XKeeper, SMB2D is the best editor to use even if it is a pain in the ass to use. I really wish Acmlm or someone else would finish it up, but I really doubt it.

Wow Googie, this demo is pretty good. I can tell that you took your'e time to make the levels even if it is a small demo, nice job. I cannot wait for the final product. Um, is this going to be a prequel to DahrkDaiz's SMB3 DX? The only reason I'm asking is that he is using the Luigi sprite from SMAS SMB3 & your using the Luigi sprite from SMAS SMB.

Hello everyone, I've been playing alot of CV hacks recently & I am inspired to make a CV hack myself. I want to make a CV hack with the graphics from CV 2, but when I open up the rom with TLP, the graphics look all distorted. How do I go about looking in the rom what goes where?

How do I go about disabling the cut scenes in CV1? they really annoy me.

I'd volunteer, but I developed a deep hatred for that game's level format while working on LotBB2. There were many occasions where I couldn't do something relatively simple due to inherent engine limitations, or had to open a hex editor and tweak the data manually. It didn't help that Acmlm's editor has some pretty evil bugs...


It's too bad that Acmlm does not want to fix his editor of those bugs, otherwise this would of been a SMB2 hack to look out for. After playing LotBB2, seeing another hack by you would have been awsome alongside with DahrkDaiz's ASM hack included.
