Hey. I play SMW hacks on the smallest setting. So lighten up the stuff on the poles. You are right about not having the sprites such as boos and dry bones lighter than the rest. Unless you are going for a cartoony look, which it doesn't seem you are, change the palettes. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 07-01-05 02:45 AM) |

The best piece of advice I can give you: Don't make threads like this. It'll just round up a million either impractical or stupid ideas that won't be worth implementing. Focusing on making your hack catered to certain people will just slow you down and make the whole thing less fun.

They aren't line ends; you can use your mouse on the edges to make them longer. Are you aware that there is a help file in Lunar Magic that tells you how to do all this? Use that. Don't go making threads about it. (edited by Glyph Phoenix on 07-03-05 11:23 AM) |

You're both dumbasses. Kyouji because there is a different Mario only block that lets in Mario but not other sprites and Darkflight because his layout is eating the page. And if you can't find the Mario only block in blocktool the code for one should be in my ASM thread.

I bit off a piece of my toungue. It wasn't too bad. There should be something one you can do with a small piece of one's tongue. I should have thought it up, too. I mean, it's a piece of your tongue. It has to do something cool. |

The sound should be the same for a large number of enemies. It would involve some major ASM hacking to change just the sound for the goomba. But if you meant for all enemies, then... then I don't know.

Not the same without music, like the music Blackhole was importing into SMW format in this thread?

Well, it's probably not so much death but sending him back to the depths of whence he came until he is brought back to this mortal plane by the rituals of cults whose names must not be spoken lest your tongue rot and fall off, but at least you got to run him over.

Oh, come on. I bet you'd get a discount buff job and a free car wash if you could convince them it was from hitting Kyouji Craw. You'd have to show them his head as proof, though. You wouldn't be the first person trying to get a free car wash by claiming you ran over Kyouji Craw. And that just might be quotable. |

While off topic, you really need to change your site design. It is butt ugly. Geez. These random ugly Link pictures in the background? STARFIELDS? That's terrible, man. Now, on to the hack related stuff. You need to have the tops of clouds placed in the bonus round area. The way Dr. Mario's threads turn black or pinkish on some areas is a big no-no. Don't have the logs in the forest level just end at the foreground trees. The backgrounds, while often surprisingly nice, have terrible palettes. They should be grayed out and possibly lightened so they don't conflict with the foreground. Water that has risen to the very top of the ground area is really bad. Gaumel forest is too cluttered. Now, the red picture.... that is just terrible. The fuzzies are the same color as the bg, which is bad. The BG is just one of the worst things that ever was. No level should ever be paletted that way. That pink... THING.... I can't even tell what it is. And the ground is an ugly shade of pink. As for the rest, while little things such as lava and water being right next to each other (and not at the same level) take it down a little, are surprisingly good. Your backgrounds, often with poor palettes, aren't that bad. The rock in the underwater level doesn't seem to have terrible errors. Surprisingly not so terrible, but definately not enough to make me download this one. But to be fair I've probably downloaded like 3 hacks since the last SMO demo. |

The pipes should act the same in all configurations, mikejpr. And nintendo has little to do with the creation of these pipes besides inspiration and of course Super Mario World. While I doubt Smallhacker or any other decent hacker would place pipes that way, you still should want to have the pipes work in all situations.

Actually, Kei, it's very possible. All you'd need was a custom block that tells all the status bar drawing functions to take a hike. It shouldn't be hard at all if you knew how. But I don't.

Because they don't actually read most of the level data. Read the help files and don't post until then.

Well, actually, you might need to add a little code in when the status bar is drawn that says "If this variable is set, don't draw the status bar." And then you'd need to have the custom block set that variable. But for all I know something like that already exists. Like I said, I don't know too much about this. |

You'd best not mess with dotted line blocks. Screwing with one of those will screw with the crates in ghost levels and possibly other stuff in other levels, depending on which tiles they use. Making a totally new block would almost certainly be a better idea. How exactly do those blocks in WL4 work? I don't have the game. |

Oh. Well, if I recall, isn't there already a blocktool block that does that?
