No. The second picture doesn't look remotely like a graveyard, and the first doesn't look good. It has to many sprites, and if you look at the lakitu you can see why that is bad. And the third doesn't even show up.

He means "How are you going to handle it since the SMW engine is different from SMB", if you couldn't discern that yourself...

Glyph, how about trying NOT to offend people everytime you post?

Or I could, y'know, just keep going with my whole honesty thing. But yeah, lying about whether or not something someone makes is good is a way to go too.

Meh. You need to come up with some fresh, new ideas. Or swipe some good ideas from someone else. Because the only thing I've seen so far that was interesting in this hack is the way you have to scroll the screen in order to jump on the red koopa troopa. I don't remember anyone doing that before, But then again, I'd probably just take a flying jump on the munchers anyway... (They're called munchers, not chompers, BTW)

I also say change your pallete. Mix it up.

I said this hack sucks, and no one as of yet has any evidence to the contrary.

You responded with: "Quiet you shit".

peter_ac, if you don't have constructive or at least mildy intelligent to say, don't say it.

But really, this hack is below average. I'd really like to say that this hack is way below average, but there are just too damn many total crap hacks bringing it down.

I mean, look at it. It's not like I can talk about the flaws in level design and such, because a demo hasn't been released. But look at what we can see. The only changed palletes are bad. Too many sprites in the first screenshot. The rest looks like it has hardly been changed.

Now, how the hell can you get "a good hack" from that?

@Golden Yoshi: Meh. I've never been a good fan of mixed paths. But SMW is an exception, since you can go can go through all paths in the same file without having to start over. Now, those are cool, but only when you can choose to go through them all instead of having to limit yourself to one path. I hate those. But since what you were saying is only directed at SMW, my point is moot...

I disagree. Anybody who is truly honest sounds like an asshole. Because, frankly, things suck in general. So many things. You can't be truly honest without mentioning those things... whatever subject you're talking about.

No, it won't. You think that there are custom blocks to make Mario do all that? You're either going to have to enlist the help of an ASM user, just use the regular SMW goal points, or learn some ASM yourself.

Jumbled graphics? Cursing? The only time I found either was the poorly designed wall in Frigid Fortress and the "those damned kids" remark in P-Switch Run (or whatever it's called...). And I didn't find either one terribly annoying.

But from what I played, excellent. Your level design doesn't seem to use any terribly new tricks, but I found the hack well designed and the graphics that you did change fit the game well and added a little originality. I actually had a reason to find all 5 dragon coins in one level, and with just a little twist like that and streamlined level design you've got a neat little hack going here. Things like the ice blocks and palm trees fit your level design nicely.

Seriously, though. Frigid Fortress. Fix it. And tone down the difficulty. Like, add a speed block or something. And make the background pipes darker. Even though they're already dark, They still look so damn close to regular pipes...

I hate when people agree with people without having the slightest idea what they're saying. "Never post your first hack" is completely wrong. Kyouji just finished saying that JJ's hack, JAMH, is good and not all first hacks suck. But this one does. Geez.

A little suggestion, Moda... stop making stupid generalizations and start making sense. Just a suggestion.

@FuSoYa: No. It's not. What someone is actually saying should always be the most important thing, not how they say it. Although the second is important too.

But even with all this, my question remains unanswered... How are you going to handle goal points?

A year and a half? Aw, that sucks. I was hoping that since this hack didn't involve too many ExGFX and custom blocks and such that it'd go a lot faster. Waiting for hacks is like running towards a door that keeps going further and further back... Forever.

Y'know, like in that one... thing... with the door...

You all know what I'm saying.

Tiles is still pixelated crap, huh? You might want to try the Lunar Magic help file, or... well, I don't know... maybe one of the big threads at the top that says "Newbies: Read this first"? Seeing as how you're a newbie, and those threads answer questions like this, it might be a good idea to read that. So your tiles is not pixelated crap.

I thought about doing something like this...

...until I came to my senses and figured out how pointless this would be. Unless you can edit something that you can't as easily with a hex editor (which I doubt, since you called it an offset editor), this is really just a waste of time.

Will this program edit anything one with a hex editor can't, or is this the waste of time described above? Film at eleven.

That's actually a pretty nifty idea. If the two could alternate fighting, like when bowser zooms in and out, that would kick so much ass. All you'd really need is a graphics hack that changes the pallete and loaded gfx when bowser zooms out.

Of course, without the hack, having the two just randomly appear from the same vehicle, or worse yet, appear from a vehicle that randomly changes shape because the hacker didn't bother to find a way to transition it.... not awesome at all.

Or, or... You could have Robotnik take the place of Peach, remove the help gfx, and change the mushroom to... I don't know, a bomb or something. Wouldn't be too bad, but I prefer the former much more.

Not very easily at all, which is what I said. Lunar Magic speeds up the process tenfold and adds a bunch of other features at that. Level data follows patterns and such that makes utilities for them useful. Offsets... not so much.

What are we talking here? Offsets. Single values that can easily be found and edited. And I think that unless Darkflight here has some l33t API skillz, which I don't think nearly enough people in the world have, it'd probably be best just to use a hex editor.

I'd rather just look up an address and change it then download and use an editor which certainly won't change as many offsets, seeing as how new ones are found every once in a while, and use a hex editor of choice, such as Translhexion. All that takes only slightly longer than an editor, gives you more control, most likely a nicer GUI, and you don't have to worry about bugs in the editor screwing up your rom.
