For me, these things, in the order of what I'm most likley to do:

Play videogames
Listen to music
Read something
Defragment the hard drive on our computer *
Watch TV, a Movie, or something similar

* Sounds horribly stupid, I know, but most of the time when I do that, I think of what I could do after I'm done, and I usually come up with a couple things

One last thing is, depending on if it's late at night, I'll just go to bed

Yep. You could remake games yourself as well. Completely forgot about that That way you don't have to worry about getting permission either. There's no negatives I can think of if you do that

Have you actually gotten a reply back from Nintendo yet? Even if you didn't, I can just imagine what they'll say right now

One other thing that came to mind was this: how are the games going to work? Is there just going to be some selection screen where you choose the game you want to play, pay, and have fun, or is there only going to be one game on the machine at a time? I know you've probably already thought about it, but I think the 'all in one' system would work better.

Giving people only one choice to make would kind of decrease the attractiveness of the thing, but then again, if you do that, you could have special games depending on what time of year it is or something. Now that I think about it, that could be done with the first idea as well. I need to stop contradicting myself

As far as what you asked in your first post about what it would take to get your machine into a public place, I just took a look, and I found this for starters. That's for North Wiltshire (wherever the heck that is ), but I assume it wouldn't change too much, if at all for other places.

I don't think there'd be a really big problem as long as you gave proper credit to whatever company designed the graphics, sound, or whatever else you use from the game. There still might be small things with that, but nothing as big as if you were to use a ROM and Emulator It sounds like you're going to be using games that are quite old as well, so that might be a plus for you

I hope that first link is for somewhere in Canada, 'cause I tried looking for one that was for Canada, but most of the stuff turned up were links to books on how to build your own arcade machine, some page on Yahoo, etc

Playing DS worldwide with other people. That would be really fun DeMasked, huh. The name doesn't make very much sense, but still, it sounds really neat. I'm assuming the PictoChat thing I read about that's on DS will work with that program as well whenever it's released.

If they can start working on this sort of thing a couple days after the DS came out, I wonder what they have planned for the future

You could also try redownloading it from this site. There's nothing in the zip file besides the exe, so you'll need to know where to put it beforehand. On this computer here (XP Home SP2), it's located in:

c:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binares

Same as Surlent's Oh well. As long as you know what folder to look in

I recommend you run a spyware / virus scan as well. There shouldn't be any reason that file goes mysteriously missing without the 'aid' of either a virus or some sort of spyware.

Hopefully that helps you fix your problem

What do you keep getting, Trapster? It may be that S&D isn't blocking that certain one from getting installed

I assume with your second comment you're just looking for a list of antispwyare programs. Here's a list of links from the ones that are listed in the anti spyware test page:

Ad-Aware SE Personal
Spy Sweeper
Spybot: Search & Destroy
Pest Patrol
SpySubtract
Giant AntiSpyware
X-Cleaner

Not saying that you have to use all of them, just so you know I didn't link to Aluria SE, for this reason

Also make sure you don't download any that are listed on this site. Check out the first bit of text on that page, and you'll see why

You shouldn't really have to hide your face to get the game, Kitten Yiffer. If it's just 'cause it's a Kirby game, my brother rented Kirby's Air Ride a couple months ago now, and if it wasn't for him re-renting it a couple times, he probably would've gone out to some store with the game, and bought it. He just turned 18 as well. There's no shame in buying a game that everyone else thinks is 'kiddy'. Just imagine how those adults feel that are getting a game for their kid(s), and they have no idea what they're looking for, or where to go to get it

Those screens are really nice, but 5 isn't really enough to go by I recognize the enemy in the last picture as the one that gives you 'cutter' in Kirby's Adventure for the NES This game could be cool if it is like Kirby Superstar. I've only ever played that game enough to get halfway done the treasure hunting thing, but it was still fun to play

Nice looking right now though

Wow. I never expected that sort of turn after reading your teaser thread Very nice thing you've done here Even with those bugs that Proto K pointed out, this is still a really cool utility I can't wait to see what later versions bring

Now the only thing that makes me wonder is the slew of Chrono Trigger hacks that'll be coming out in the next couple months, whether they're complete or not I thought it'd take alot of time to beat all the SMW hacks I've collected, these would take even longer

Arrgh. I try to launch the program, and I keep getting this error:

c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\mscorwks.dll could not be loaded

I recently upgraded to the .NET Framework Service Pack 2 (today, in fact), which might've caused that problem. I tried locating the dll file, and putting it in the v1.1.4322 folder, but the folder itself wasn't there, so I created it, pasted the file inside, and now I get this error message, and then the other one appears right after it

The application has failed to start because fusion.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I hope this is only for the time being, 'cause I'd really like to give this program a try. If there's something I'm overlooking for fixing it, please let me know

Posted on 11-25-04 05:26 AM, in Blocking Sites in Firefox? Link
Another question from me Anyhow, by reading the thread title, you should know what I want to do.

Main reason being, porn sites and the like have suddenly been appearing in the address list of Firefox. Before anyone assumes it, I'm not the one responsible. I learnt my lesson the first time we had the internet It's most likely either my brother or sister. My Dad's the only one that uses the computer other than them and me, and he's only on for half an hour or so a day.

I installed a keylogger to hopefully catch whoever was responsible for that, but so far it's not proven very useful. Just this afternoon, I had to leave the house to get my hair cut, and I came back, checked someone's log (I won't say whose), and lo, one of the sites that was accessed was some 'Lesbian Personals' thing I'd like to not have to delete all ways of opening internet browsers short of the run menu, folder path bars, and the explorer. I'm pretty confident that they wouldn't know they could get to the internet that way.

I'm just wondering if there's some way to get Firefox to block user-defined sites. I've looked through the tools menu, to no avail, but maybe there's some other way to do what I want. I know IE has a thing that allows you to block sites, but I don't want them using IE if I can at all help it

If you can help, thanks

So in other words pretty much what you see in the Super Demo World title screen demo I always wondered what caused that, and now I know About what's happening with that note block, I have no idea There's a slight chance that, going by what Kratos said, there could be an invisible-until-hit-from-below block next to the note blocks That wouldn't explain why the coins are coming out of the note block though

I tried searching for a list of SMW glitches on google, to hopefully find the reason that's happening, but the only site that really had anything to do with SMW was here.

Unfortunatley they don't explain what's happening in that screenshot there, but there's still some glitches that I didn't know about

Modifying the hosts file looks like it'll work nicely. It may sound mean to say it, but I wish I could be there when someone tries to get to one of these sites now Does anyone know if it's possible to use wildcards in the host file? Just something like having this sort of entry in the file: 127.0.0.1 *porn*.*

FreeDOS: I'd use that method, but there's one problem. I just want to block those certain sites. There's far too many to think of that I use weekly to add them all into an 'allow' list Thanks for the suggestion though

What you said, Dcahrakos, about just blocking images, that'd work as well, but I'm taking HyperHacker's suggestion because Adam and Naomi (my brother and sister) are extremely unlikely to ever find out exactly what's blocking the sites. If I just do something through the options menu, they stand a good chance of looking in there, and deleting the certain entries

Thanks for the help

It just vaguely looks like Jesus to me (that's what the product description said it's supposed to be). Still it's a fishstick. A simple, everyday fishstick, that someone put on to cook, and forgot about 'till they smelled something burning. It's just going to rot or something in a couple days, then most likely get thrown out, if you ask me

I don't know about others, but I never thought playing videogames made you a nerd. The only time I'd ever think of someone that way is if they spend most of their waking hours in front of a computer Yeah, videogames are becoming more mainstream, one of the biggest forms of entertainment, as you said. The thing down in the new Kirby game thread in General Haming comes to mind. This bit:

I saw 65-year-old gamers in line of many when FFX came out talking about various things about the other FFs and other RPGs in general. Gamers exist in all ages for any game.

There's never been a time where I've personally seen older person buying a game for themselves. A few times I've been out at Walmart, and I've noticed people that looked older than me buying games, but most often I'd hear them mention something about buying it for their kid or something. Who knows though. That may just be an excuse so they don't feel embarassed

I'm not saying that I wanted to go out and shoot people after playing Doom, or any similar game As well as being scared by it, that's not really what I was getting at. I understand that games are just Fantasy, no matter how realistic they may get, but even with that in mind, some of they put in games (even old ones), makes me stop and wonder how far they're willing to go to sell the thing, but then again, they make what the people want to play.

The rating system, to me, is annoying as well. I think that three quarters of the people that buy games don't even think about the rating of a game when they make the choice to buy it. Myself, I want a game if:

a) It looks interesting
b) It's not too expensive

The only time I really look at the rating is after I buy the game, just to see what rating category it fits into. You say that you wouldn't even allowed to check out Halo, even if you were old enough to drive a car? Well, there's a bit of sensibility in that, since I'm sure stores would face some kind of penalty for selling M rated games to underage kids. Not that I'm saying you were underage then. The only thing I know about ratings is the letters for them (E, T, M, and any other ones). I'm not sure what the different ages are for each one

Halo really isn't a bad game to me either. Yeah, sure, it involves shooting stuff, which would set a couple people off right there I don't really understand why people would say that it's a 'bad' game though.

GTA games. The only ones I've played are some old overhead one for DOS (I think), and Vice City. The overhead one was on our old computer. I'm not able to find it now, and it was only a demo anyways I was just introduced to Vice City in the later part of this year, and I have to say it's fun. I was never told 'No. You can't play that sort of game.' as a kid. I've definitely been desensitized quite a bit since I first played that game I remember when I first got into it, I was up to a mission where you had to destroy a lady's car while she was in it, but without guns or anything. She kept on doing her 'Somebody please help me!' etc. all through the mission, and after finishing up on the computer for that day, I wondered what was wrong with the people who made that game. A couple weeks after that, I did the same mission again, and it wasn't 'disturbing' anymore. Just an annoyance that the car was so hard to hit

I played DOA XBV the night my friend bought it, and I have one word for it: *yawn*. It seems like only half the game is focused on volleyball, while the rest is spent in shopping, that odd jumping game, or anything else on there. I swear the only reason Josh bought it was 'cause it looked so realistic. Especially the characters I can't think of any other reason he'd be willing to pay 40 or 50 dollars just to get that game.

About game quality having diminished with time. I think that's pretty true as well. I look forward to Zelda, Metroid, etc. games, but still there's some that aren't part of any big series, and they're still just as good as a Mario game or similar. Not all good games have to come from the big companies, but most of 'em still do.

Same as Ziffski, I'm looking forward to the new Zelda more than any other game right now This looks like it might be fun to rent once it's released, and Blockbuster puts a full week rental sticker on it (which, knowing them, won't be for a couple years after it's release )

If there is multiplayer co-op, how do you think it'll work? I think having two Kirbys (Kirbies?) playing at the same time wouldn't be very fun, but I remember seeing in another Kirby game, some rat-thing that was friendly. What if one player was Kirby, and the other was the Rat. Kirby could swallow the Rat and use him to hit switches or something that are otherwise unreachable, and the Rat could dig tunnels to get past obstacles

Hmm. I suppose it's best not to go into too much detail, since there could be no multiplayer at all, but it's fun to think about what there could be.

HyperHacker: GameSpot has the same screens here, so you can take a look at that if the other site isn't working for you

I ran across something like that BMF. It's in this part of a level I was doing:

I found it odd that I could stand in the space where the Dragon Coin is after I hit the highest invisible block I redid that space many times, hoping to fix the problem, but now I know all I have to do is remove the coin from above the highest invisible block
