Try copying and pasting the URL into the address bar. That worked for me when I tried to download it, as I was getting the same problem as you. If all else fails, you could ask him to email it to you, or get it to you some other way than having to download it

I can help you when it comes to searching the board, but that's about it There's no actual search function on the board for normal users, but you can still use google to search this site specifically. To do so, type in the text you want to search for, then add "site:board.acmlm.org" without the quotes after it. For an example, say you wanted to search for mario hacks. You'd type in "mario hacks site:board.acmlm.org", and it's as simple as that

As for that Cape Mario hack, it looks pretty neat, although it would be even better if it was possible to make the cape behave like it does in Super Mario World. I know that's pretty much impossible without the time and knowledge needed to do so Nice work on that even so (if that's your hack, that is)

Posted on 09-08-05 09:17 PM, in Easiest Classes or which.. Link
The easiest class I ever had (out of both high school and one year of college) would be Computer Applications. I think that's the name. The entire course literally consisted of learning how to use Excel and Access, with a couple tests and one exam thrown into it as well. Coupled with the fact that it was quite easy to take the work home to do, and that most of the spreadsheets took at most, 45 minutes to complete The room the class was in was also arranged in a way that it was easy to have other stuff open at the same time without the teacher noticing. That was a course I had in college, as well.

As for the class I found to be the most fun, it'd be Grade 12 English, which was obviously in high school. I enjoy writing (although I haven't recently), which was a major part of the class, as would be expected. We also had more out-of-class work than in class, but only a bit of it was outside of the school. The journal entry we had to write each week was nice to do as well. The idea behind it was to list some things about the book you were reading at the time, such as new characters, interesting plot twists, and other such things, as well as being able to write stuff that didn't necessarily have to do with school. Each entry had to be a page long, which didn't pose a problem, as most of mine spanned two sheets, and sometimes more I still have it at home, in my room. It's rather funny, seeing that I failed Grade 9 English, and barely wrote anything in my journal at all, while in Grade 12, I passed with about an 85% average at the end, and got a 50/50 for both stuff about the book I was reading, and extras in my journal

The only other class that comes to mind as being fun was Grade 10 Geography, mainly because me and another person threw Joe's (one of our friends at the time) pencil case out the window He did that plenty of times to me as well though, so don't think it happened without revenge

There are other classes I've taken over the years that I've liked, or have been exceptionally easy, but the above are the ones that stand out the most

I've never actually seen an SNES that looks like the lower one in Xeolord's post Honestly, I like the top one better, but that choice may have been affected by that SNES "model" being the only one I've ever had a chance to use

As for the games not working, I'd say your ex-girlfriend keeping it in the closet and letting it get dirty has something to do with that, but if the games and console itself were stored together, then they could both be at fault. Also, as has already been stated, yes, Mario Paint requires a mouse to use, which could be a good thing, considering that even if you're able to use the controller, the cursor moves a lot more slowly (as would be expected). The bee swatting game is also pretty much impossible on higher levels without the mouse

Also, I believe Colleen's link doesn't look right because there's a colon followed by a captial S in the URL, which the board interprets as a smiley, and thus tries to display the appropriate picture (in this case being ). Copy and paste the following URL into your address bar, then remove the space between the colon and the S in Snes if you want to see the picture:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image: Snes2_sys.jpg

That should work

I just did a bit of searching with google, and came up with a site that I haven't visited in a while (EmuXHaven). A link to it can be found here, and the links bar on the left can be used from there to hopefully find what you're looking for There is actually one other site that looked interesting besides that one, which can be found here. I don't know whether the emulators listed there will work for you, for obvious reasons (never having used Linux).

Therefore, you'll have to try whichever emulator(s) look interesting on your own, but with luck you'll be able to find something useful from either of those two sites

I've got another question right now that I started wondering about while playing a song I downloaded yesterday night. What exactly, in this sort of game is a "freeze roll"? Said song is called "July -Euromix-". The banner has a couple fireworks, and then the name of the song, so one would assume the background would be pretty much the same. It's not The exact text in the background says "Freeze Roll OMG" (it feels weird typing that ). Furthermore, the filename of the background in the song folder is "freeze roll warning.jpg". There didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary in the song (although I only played it on Challenge), which is what got me wondering

Anyways, that question aside, although I've played StepMania a decent amount in the past few days, I still only have 3 screenshots today Two of the songs seemed to be quite easy, so they could be intented for a pad (but the site they were downloaded from didn't specify which), so I brought them in anyways.

:: The Famous Polka, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Sting Chameleon, Challenge
:: Little Kitty Mine, Challenge

I realize the banner in the first screenshot doesn't show the song name, but it's not very hard to forget it, when that's the only song with a banner that looks like that

Also, whoever was resposible for making the rest of the songs in the group "Little Kitty Mine" is in really likes mines Nearly every single song I tried had at least one, but half of those songs don't have either a background or banner, and sometimes are missing both as well. It's certainly different to suddenly have to incorporate not pressing the arrow keys for mines into playing the game

Either way, I'm happy with those results, even if two of the three songs weren't intented to be played with a keyboard

My collection of games for current consoles (Gamecube, DS, and such) is listed in my profile, but as for all the games I own, look here. That list hasn't been updated in quite a while now (as is obvious if you compare it with my profile), but it covers all the older games I own

Note that neither of those pages cover PC games, because I don't actually play actual PC games on my computer all that much right now, and I think it'd be rather pointless to list all the games on the computer, even though they haven't been touched in a while. Same thing goes for N64 and Game Gear games. I have a pretty good idea of which ones I own for those two systems, but I haven't added them into my list at Gamespot yet

Also, as with Colleen, I'm not going to even attempt to list all the games I've ever downloaded as a ROM or whatever else, as then the page would grow by extremely large proportions, and it'd take more time than I'm willing to dedicate right now anyways

Overall I think I've got a pretty decent-sized collection, but there's sure to be others out there that'd put mine to shame

A freeze roll is a new type of arrow that looks like a spiky freeze. You have to hit that arrow every 0.3 ms I believe it was.

There's nothing of that sort in the song at all It could be that it is in the .sm file, and that StepMania simply doesn't know what to do with it yet, and thus skips over that arrow, which makes the most sense.

Anyways, I'm amazed at how much easier changing the first modifier to 1.5x can make some songs. That's evidenced in a few of the screenshots I have today. 12 of them as well

:: Grand Prix, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Coconut, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Assault of the Silver Dragons, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Summer, Challenge, 1.5x
:: LAB v2, Heavy, 1.5x
:: Snow, Heavy, 1.5x
:: Star Field, Heavy, 1.5x
:: Classic 8, Heavy, 1.5x
:: M, Heavy, 1.5x
:: We Know What to Do, Challenge
:: J219, Challenge
:: PARANOiA =iNSANiTY= MAX, Challenge

All "A" or lower, but still pretty good, considering that I used to find those songs next to impossible (especially "M"). Needless to say, later on in the afternoon on Sunday, my arms started to ache I didn't do all of the above in one day or anything, but it still didn't help that I went right from getting out of bed to playing StepMania

As should be obvious by the banner, the version of J219 above isn't DahrkDaiz's. This one had movies in the background and all, including one of spinning gears, that looked to me like it'd fit better in either version of "Drop the Bomb"

When it comes to the low result on "Summer", that's another one where I'm glad I can just make it through the song. It's rated a 13, which I have a feeling is based mostly on the two 16th runs in the song That's not nearly as bad as "Robotix" though. It's only 11 or 12, but near the middle of the song, the BPM keeps speeding up, until it's over 1000 The arrows during that section are just simple left-right-left-right, and they stay at a consistent speed throughout it, but when you see how fast the arrows (and mines) are going by, you think you have to press them extremely quickly

I was hoping to be able to get through "Salieri Strikes Back", as I can make it about two thirds of the way through the song now, but the last third is the death of me

Either way, I'm happy with those results, considering most of them are from songs I wasn't able to do before

I like the idea, but I don't think it'd work out in the end Translating the board wouldn't be too big of a chore, if it wasn't for the posts.

Let's say the board was translated into German, and a bunch of people registered, but only spoke / read German. It'd be awfully hard, if not impossible for them to post anything in threads that they can't understand. Then again, let's say they wanted to post in a thread asking for opinions on some screenshots of a hack someone is making. That wouldn't be very difficult, as what they want to write about is a couple pictures and not text, but then the creator of the thread may not be able to understand what that person said

A translation of the board base (forum descriptions, main page, and the like) could very well entice those people to join this board, but once they see that a majority of the threads are in English, it'd likely discourage them from posting.

Overall, it's a good idea, but unless you're able to find some way to work around 99% of the posts here being in English, you may be in a bit of trouble I'm not trying to say that not speaking English is bad or anything, but that might be something to think about

I just registered as well It can't hurt to get that out of the way as soon as possible. Even though the forum is the only thing that's back up right now, that's still progress, which is good to see. As for FFR's simfile database being up now, I find that to be quite a surprise, as I never saw anything about that Still, I see a few files in that list that look interesting (especially the "100 Sec. Kitchen Battle!!"), so at least I'll have more songs to try tonight.

What would be interesting to see is if the simfiles that were uploaded there were made to be playable in the flash game, but they're fine the way they are. It's a pity this keyboard makes such a racket though. Otherwise, I'd actually be able to play the game.

As for screens, I have none today. There are some at home that are new, but I didn't have enough time to put them on my hard drive today. The only one I remember doing good on was "Era - Grand Blue Outset Mix" on Challenge. I managed to finally get an "A" on it.

The keyboard I use to play the game is getting quite close to being busted as well The left and right arrows are stuck about halfway pressed down, so just nudging one will be enough for the computer to register a key being pressed. Same thing goes for the "D", but that's from ZSNES, and a couple other emulators. It still works though, and there's another keyboard that's used for normal typing and the like, so for the time being, it's still usable.

Now it's time to get downloading

If you really want to see the boring desktop on the computer I'm using right now, then look here. Standard blue colored background, unorganized icons, and nothing else that's worth mentioning There's actually only one computer in this whole building that has an actual picture for a background, but it's of some cat from Shrek 2. I'd change the background on this one, but there's someone else that uses it too, and I'd rather not have a fuss get started because the background got changed.

I'll upload a screenshot of my home desktop tomorrow In my opinion, it's quite a bit more exciting than the above one, although there's quite a few more icons as well

For now though, the above picture is the only one of mine to see

If you're actually looking for FSNASM, then look here. More specifically, check Euclid's post I just checked if the link was still working, and it is. I know he mentions "WLA DX", but I have no idea where you'd find that You're actually going to have to have a knowledge of 65c816 assembly if you want to add custom things into the game, so hopefully you do

I can't see changing the text being too complicated either, which is a good thing

As for what 65c816 is, I can't think of a good way to say it, but it's the "type" of assembly the SNES "uses" As you can see from the link Dcahrakos posted, there are different "variations" for each console.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I just did a quick google search using the title of the thread (minus the "How do I make" bit), and came up with one site among others, that linked to another, located here. The downloads referred to are at the bottom of the instructions, so it seems to be that everything you need to know is right there

The site I found the link on is here (it's cached, as otherwise it wouldn't load for me ) which has a link to another site with instructions on how to make the fonts smoother, if that makes a big difference

Good luck getting that to work, and once again, that was found with a 10 second search, and although it looks like that'll work, I can't make any guarantees

I ended up changing my wallpaper as soon as I got home last night, so take that for what you will. Those are hosted on zShare, as it's the only site I know of that allows more than 1Mb to be uploaded at a time Yes, it was 1:05 a.m. when I took those screenshots, as I didn't even realize what time it was until looking at the clock in the taskbar The taskbar is normally offscreen (it's on autohide), so I brought it out for the screenshot. All it's covering up is the shortcuts to "My Computer", "My Documents", "Recycle Bin", and a couple zip files of ROM patches I haven't used yet, among other things.

I usually change the Icon Package, WindowBlinds skin, cursor, and wallpaper about once a month, but for now, that's what my desktop looks like

Edit: Before anyone points out the version info in the lower right corner, yes, I own a legal copy of XP I turned that on with System Mechanic, then uninstalled the program since it was messing a couple things up, and now I don't know how to go about turning it off.

He says that's the hardest song he'll ever make, but as is obvious, he said the same thing about Reality I can't help but wonder how long it'll be until he thinks of another song that could be even more difficult, if that happens, that is The hardest song (made by anyone) I've got isn't Reality though. PARANOiA Evil is rated 20 on Challenge (I believe that's the difficulty), but I do know Prier / Hiryuu made a comment on that song, mainly about the insane difficulty sometime before Bemanistyle went down.

As far as having a lot of simfiles to upload, and only being able to upload 5 at a time when Bemanistyle is back up, consider yourself lucky that you only have 94. The people that have made 100 or over will definitely have a bit of work ahead of them

Now I've got another question. On the song selection screen, do the button combinations to turn on / change various modifiers serve any purpose other than to save you having to go through the two options menus? I know I've ended up pressing left and right repeatedly a couple times too many before, and it turned on "Drunk" It'd be nice to know if there's a way to turn all the modifiers off without having to go through the menus, as it gets frustrating after a while

Anyways, screens. 10 of them today, but that's what happens when I forget to bring them in one day

:: Era: Grand Blue Outset Mix, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Healing Vision RMX, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Innocent Walls, Heavy, 1.5x
:: Robotix, Challenge, 1.5x
:: 100 Sec. Kitchen Battle!!, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Untitled Gabber Song, Heavy, 1.5x
:: Utopia, Heavy, 1.5x
:: V, Heavy, 1.5x
:: My Life is so Crazy, Challenge
:: Hispanic Panic, Challenge

I finally managed to get an "A" on "Delirium" by DukAmok last night. Only on heavy, but still quite an accomplishment if you ask me. I also gave "The Glass Prison" a try, and managed to get about halfway through it. Not too bad

I'll keep that site in mind, but I prefer sites of that sort that don't require registration I did sign up at ImageShack mainly to upload screenshots of StepMania results, so I suppose it won't hurt to register at myFileHut in the event that I need to

As for trying to disable the program in msconfig, I already uninstalled System Mechanic, and after doing that, I did a check in a few places (msconfig included) to make sure nothing was left behind, and I didn't find anything. The actual description in the program to enable or disable the version display was something like "In pre-release builds of Windows 2000 and and above, the version information was displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen, then hidden upon release. Check this box to show your current operating system version all the time.". By that description, it makes it seem like either there's a registry key that controls that, or the program added something to do that. The only way I can see to disable it right now is to reinstall the program then uninstall it right after disabling that option, but for right now, it's not too bothersome. Winamp covers most of the text anyways, as can be seen in the screenshots.

Thanks for the suggestion though

I tried clicking the link on the first page, and got a "This Page Could Not Be Found" error, but even so, Josh stopped by on Saturday, since he was heading to work, with the sole intent to tell me that Nintendo had released this information, and gave me a quick sketch in Paint Not the greatest thing of course, and according to him, it was the worst possible thing for Nintendo to do. In his exact words, he'd "rather be sitting on his duff with a controller, than actually having to move it to control the game".

I myself think it looks pretty neat I got to thinking about it later that night, and the thought of playing a Metroid or Zelda game (among others, of course) where you could actually move Samus's gun by moving the controller, as opposed to holding the R button and using the analog stick as in previous Metroid Prime games. As for Zelda, I don't know how possible it would be, but imagine using the controller to attack with Link's sword, or various other weapons, such as the bow and arrow. I know that may not be possible, given what was said in the "End of an Era for Zelda" thread, but it'd still be fun to play. After reading this page, I see they already used the Metroid idea, so I'm looking forward to seeing if they're going to make a Metroid Prime game that uses that control method exclusively. Not to say that Nintendo may not be working on something like that already, but it can't hurt to say

My brother doesn't think it looks so great, but still, he's the one that's been badgering me for quite a while now to get a Revolution when it comes out, because there'll be a Prince of Persia game made for it

The only thing I don't like about it is that it uses batteries. Of course, that's to be expected with something that's wireless. With luck, a power pack or some sort of rechargeable batteries will be released sometime after the console itself. Either way, I think this looks pretty neat, and not at all stupid. Of course, that's just a matter of opinion

I know what you mean I can make it through Standard, but not Heavy or Challenge. The first time I tried the latter difficulty, I ended up turning on AutoPlay fairly early. I thought you were actually expected to be able to hit a good majority of the arrows at a later point in the song (the part where it freezes, then has every arrow up to 64ths in sets of four after the freeze) but saw that it somehow skipped that part. Either way, the rest of the song is hard enough on it's own. It's still fun letting people try it that've never played StepMania before though. I opened the song for editing, so my friend could try it without having to worry about dying, and all I can say is that it seemed as if he didn't care what arrows he had to hit. He just tapped all four at the same time as fast as possible, which didn't do much good

42? I thought 20 in the above song was bad I've never even heard of the song, but I must say nice work even getting a C, if it's that difficult. As for the rest of your post, good work once again. I'm having trouble enough even trying to get an AAA.

Anyways, here's the results of what I played over the weekend.

:: Summer, Challenge, 1.5x
:: Piano Concerto No. 9, Heavy, 1.5x
:: Estella, Heavy, 1.5x
:: DDR Extreme Nonstop Megamix, Heavy, 1.5x
:: The Impossible Song, Beginner, 0.75x

There's nothing really special about the nonstop megamix screenshot, but it's the first song I ever managed to get a combo of 1000 in. I actually had to play through the song twice though. The first time I did it, I managed to get up to and over 1000 twice, but I opened the most recent screenshot I had of it when I'd finished the song, at which point the computer started acting up. The sound in StepMania was extremely jittery, and the mouse cursor would only move every minute or so, and only for a couple seconds. As a result of that, I had to restart the computer without taking a screenshot of my result, then tried the song again later on, and managed to get over 1000 again.

As for The Impossible Song, yes, it's on beginner, but I figure the best way to go about getting better at it is to start at the lowest difficulty, and work up from there

I started playing Neverwinter Nights again as well over the weekend, which is why I only have 5 screens. That's still better than none though
