Originally posted by EmptyeyeYeah, most of Earthbound. I remember that I didn't know about PSI when I first played, and that beating Frank was hard. I don't know how far into the game I got without knowing about PSI, actually. Maybe I should try a low-level or no-PSI game of it. The first Zelda seems harder than I remembered. I think I was too little to mind the tedium of much of that game. It can't be a skill thing, since I can do good at much more difficult games, like, say, Demon's Crest. |

Actually, I found it a fascinating read. I mean, how else would you learn that dolphin penises are prehensile? |

I like the top one. Somehow though, it seems too good for the ground above it. *shrugs*

Mine is a squash monster. I drew it. I like squash monsters. Yes, I made them up. And KSS upgrades - I like Sword better. Go fight the double whispy woods battle with it. Jump into the air, hit one with it, turn around, hit the other, and so on. That, and the fact that you don't need two targets to do that, is why I like that power. |

I like your idea, I hope it turns out well. One idea that pops to mind is having a Yoshi's Island style one-shot intro level with you leaving your character's original ROM. It reminds me of a webcomic I read |

I liked Mario Legacy, in most places. I remember you at one point saying that no two levels in a row should be the same type, and I agree with it. If you stick to what you said with levels as unique and interesting as some of the ones you made in Mario Legacy, you'll have a great hack. And I liked the flashing thing. Is there anything in it you could tweak, like making it go faster or something? On the stupid flamewar: Kyouji - Keep up the good work pointing out flaws in hacks. Try to refrain from insulting people, and, if you can, make your suggestions in the indicative mood, rather than imperative or subjunctive. Imperative is "Fix the hole you can't fall down", subjunctive is Kario's "good" response. Indicative is what I use for an example below. Indicative mood offends only the easily offended! Everyone else - stop getting offended when Kyouji points out tiny flaws in your hacks, he's good at it and it makes the hacks better. If he recomends something stupid, then you should ignore it. That's how feedback works, people. Finally, I think both of Kario's response examples should be considered bad. Good: In level __ there is a hole you can't fall down. Much more to the point, gets the job done, isn't offensive. |

Worst SMW hack of all time? I just made it. I replaced the ground in the intro level with lava. That's all.Originally posted by knuckHi, my name is Squash Monster and I'm from Acmlm's. I think Orynider's hack sucks. Blackhole isn't saying that it sucks becouse he hates Orynider, he's saying it becouse Orynider's hack sucks. I don't know why you bother defending him, are you incapable of seeing how much he has claimed to do and badly faked? (edited by Squash Monster on 06-17-04 03:23 PM) |

I don't think he faked it, as it's easy to make a little GUI in VB. Whether he has the skills to actually make it remains to be seen.

So the Tanuki suit is from Japanese mythology? And all this time I thought it was from Japanese Go terminology. Of course, now that I look it up, I realise the two are spelled differently. Still, the Tenuki from Go resembles the Tanuki suit from the game to me. The move is when you play far from where the game was being played a moment ago, sort of unexpected and random. And the Tanuki suit seems rather unexpected and random to me as well. Anyway, this is a very fun hack. I found all three dungeon exits before you posted the way to the big secret one, too . And now I'm going to go do that coin gathering level, now that I know that the reason I couldn't win it was a bug . You've managed to make a completely new game out of Mario 3, and I must say this one is much better. I can't wait to play the finished one. Keep up the great work. |

Like the rest, I think the second is far better than the first. Try making the parts on the sides wave in and out half as often or something, it looks really lumpy or something right now.

After I restarted my box today, I stumbled upon something very disturbing. A program called "Perfect Keylogger" opened a nag screen asking to be registered (3 Trial days left). I never installed such a program, and am not enthusiastic about having it here. So far, I've tried Ad-Aware (which only found three tracking cookies and something called NewDotNet), Search (no results for keylogger), and a Google search on the program. I downloaded the installer that came with it and saw what it named files by default, but after removing everything that search turned up, but that nag screen still popped up (I still have it up on my screen but can't find a process in taskmanager). I didn't find anything while searching for uninstall support on that program. Could anyone tell me how to remove the thing? (Preferably in a manner where I can leave a suprise for whoever put it there). (edited by Squash Monster on 06-23-04 04:30 PM) |

I do what Lenophis does too. With ZSNES's nice options for screen shot taking, it's quite easy to do. Only really a problem if you want a graphic that only shows up during pallete swaps or when hit or whatever.

Hiryuu: I saw the page you linked, but I thought Ad-aware Might not catch it since it's commercial. I've updated my references, though it has been quite some time since trying to update had an effect. I don't feel like doing a registry edit, but I will tommorow if I must. HyperHacker: Yes, to the best of my knowlage, it is. I also thought it could be some program pretending to be that, which would explain why none of my family seems to know where it came from. Any idea how to get rid of it? |

Apparently somebody doesn't like me. Mine's a 6.25. I guess all the votes are from lightwheights though, so it's probably just being brought down by some idiot newb in ROM Hacking. I wouldn't mind some more ratings. We should stage a rate users marathon day. |

I'm fairly sure the real SNES cares about the checksum, but emulators usually don't (unless it's an odd emulator or you turned an option to check it on). |
