^Better get me my dubloons.

I said I don't do requests.

Clocks are things for keeping track of time. Working is when something does what it's supposed to do. z is the wrong letter to put after "work" because it should be s. That makes Clockworkz a clock that is broken. You can use it to tell time to people you don't like. Because you're a mean dastard.

< Is the next big thing

Also, I'll be away for a week. If anybody wants me to do their name, start a new thread and remind me when I get back. Hint: put it in the CD and quote previous attempts. Put all the requests in that thread. By the way, I don't do requests.

And that thread better still be active when I get back.

That error occurs when a type of object is loaded that EggVine does not have any data on. This should not happen as EV handles all the types of objects in the game. You likely still have an incorrect version of the ROM.

You can fix that specific error by adding an entry for object FE to either O4Data.dat or O5Data.dat, but no levels actually have that object, so you're not going to be getting a real level after you do this.

I recomend reading the little popup that shows up when EV loads and going to a thorough ROM site and downloading the specific version it mentions.

There is no one compression format. Each individual game developer will use the best format that they can come up with.

Your choices are pretty much limited to corrupting, using a tracer, or searching for bits of level data that don't seem likely to be compressed.

Corrupting:
Pick a large size of ROM that you'll corrupt. 10000(hex) bytes or something. How big this size is depends on what you're looking for and what type of format you expect. Just try some common sense -- you want the biggest range you can get that's not likely to blow anything up.

Skip the first (your size) bytes of the ROM. Corrupt the next (your size) bytes.

If it doesn't work, make note of that and move on to the next set of bytes.
If nothing happens, make note of that and move on.
If something cool happens, subdivide (I'll explain that in a sec).

When you get to the end of the ROM, go through all your "it doesn't work"s and subdivide those.

When I say subdivide, I mean divide the area you corrupted in half. Then try both halves. Once again, write down if it doesn't work or nothing happens, and subdivide again if you got something cool

When you're down to a fairly small area of cool stuff, stop subdividing, and just try to find the start of your cool area. Then work on the format.

That's a brilliant idea! I can't believe nobody has thought of doing it yet!

I mean, the actual technical details are none too hard.

Just have to unpack the files on the disk image, make a computer program that batch searches all the files for something that looks like the landing site (it has a distinctive shape, any of us could re-produce an accurate listing of its geometry off the top of our heads I'm sure, and the program would just translate the geometry into every known 3D format and search with them all. Nothing complex, probably just an hour of coding). Since the starting area is always the first area listed in the pointer table, (and no game has ever been released without a centralized pointer table to all of the areas in the game, because Nintendo passed a law about that through the International Japanese Parlament) we'd just have to use a similar search function to search every type of pointer known, and we'd already know where all the data was and their formats!

And then for the editor, we could do a ton of work with emulating the proper graphics drawing code and stuff, but I really think that's the past. The editors of the future will tie in with an emulator and follow all the data coming into the game, and let the user edit the geometry in RAM while playing the game, then trace the route the data took backwards and apply the change to the original image.

Now, the biggest problem we have here is that GameCube emulation sucks. So to get our hacks on, I think we should crack open our GCs and run the data line that goes from CD to chip through the computer -- a simple program could IPS patch all the data on the fly.

You fools! If you don't re-rout the subspace manifold through the main plasma cortex the ship's steering will go clammy just long enough for you to curse your luck before the phase reflux capacitor goes sub-nuclear and the entire ship folds in on itself in a quantum relativity bubble! And then you're all going to corrupt your ROMs! Newbs.

Well, you see as I recall, daddy long legs are in fact not spiders, they are simply spider like.
Three different types of bugs are referred to as daddy long legs. Interestingly, every last one of them comes with its own misconception, on top of the whole naming problem.

The crane fly isn't anything anyone would confuse with a spider. They look like giant mosquitos, and are sometimes called mosquito-eaters. This is annoying, because they don't eat anything (well, some eat nectar), and their reputation makes people stop you from swatting them .

The vibrating spider is an actual spider. There's that myth about it being the most poisonous spider, which isn't true.

The harvestman is a funky spider-like critter, which many people seem to think are true spiders. They can easilly be distinguised from other spiders because they're not as creepy looking.

Posted on 08-22-05 01:48 AM, in Game Boy Micro plays only GBA Games! Link
The people here complaining about Nintendo's decision to make the Game Boy Micro don't realise that they're not the target market. Nintendo isn't making the GBM for their current fans; they're making the GBM to get new customers. People who want backwards compatability are all already gamers -- they will have already bought a GBA: Nintendo already has them, so why add a feature only they would use? The GBM is aimed at people who don't already play Gameboy games. The GBM handles most of the reasons people would give for not playing Gameboy. Too clunky? The GBM is tiny. Too dorky? The GBM looks fairly cool, and at worst is still tiny and easy to hide.

If Nintendo backs this up with a cheap price and a push for some games that're suited to more casual play, they could introduce a lot more people to gaming. People who'll start with some brand-loyalty to Nintendo.

What he fails to mention is that he's awesome at what he does and YI is the bestest game for level hacks ever.

And nobody gets to complain about no graphics hacking until the Super Mario World community stops using rips from this game for everything.

And EggVine is awesome. And I'm not biased at all.

And you will all play this hack under threat of swarms of badgers. That is all.

So I figured,
we should have a haiku thread.
As we've not before. *

So post in that way,
with a series of such verse,
here are haiku's rules:

Five syllables here.
And seven syllables here.
Pentasyllabic.

And with our haikus,
we shall tell corny jokes, or
perhaps cheesy ones.

What is green and brown,
has six legs, and kills you, if
falling from a tree?

EDIT: Figured.
It has three syllables man.
And thread has just one.

Actually Squash,
We've had several before.
You are just a noob.

"As" can be used
differently than that: means
"In the manner of"

Perhaps you would have
prefered "pretend" or "like".
Which are similar.

You're a plebian.
"As" is more satisfying
linguistically.

Frowsy llamatard.
Anyway, now I'll provide
a topic for speach.

If you had your own

would you use it for?
