I was messing with my SMW rom and now it gives me a bad checksum... all I changed was one byte... is there an easy way to fix the bad checksum... well even if it is not so easy... I'd be willing to find out... please... help me out someone...

Edit:
Nevermind: I just opened it in lunar magic, saved a level and it was fixed... but if someone still wants to tell me the complex way... I'm all ears...

Then how does Lunar Magic fix it... because the byte I changed remained the same... I'm tryin to learn some ASM and I wouldn't mind knowing...

Well I was wondering... how I could recalculate the checksum and do it myself... cause unlike some people I like to learn some stuff... and how to do stuff on my own...

You'd have to totally convert the code from whatever it was coded in to a Windows app code...

I'd give it a shot if I had a source...

Actually that was the first place I looked when I started hacking SMW ... lol

That list will help me out a lot... good call Kyouji Craw

No... when you hit the block, the block bounces upward killing enemies on top of the block... I don't want it to do that..

Custom Blocks featured in DemoWorld:
Breakable Brick
Frozen Coin
Frozen Muncher Piranha

If you want to use the Blocks from Block Inserter and the Breakable Brick that doesn't bounce up when hit, then you'll have to learn 65816 ASM (SNES ASM) and alter the SMB3.bin file. If you don't know what 65816 ASM is, it's a programming language, and a specific one that only the SNES uses. (ASM = Assembly)

Each game consol (and some other things) uses it's own form of ASM, so that means there is more than one type of ASM, so you'd have to learn one that's specific for the SNES.

I actually know what ASM is... as I'm working on learning it right now... that's the answer I was looking for... thank you...

the interface is almost ready for screenshots, I just need to do a few things, and the main part looks similar to LM, since I couldnt think of anything else, but the layout for the other editing parts are much different

why vb.net.... from what I heard vb6 is better anyway...

Well I've always known this but Parasyte's advice is probably the best and that is...

START SMALL...

when I started my programming with php, is started small, and now I feel I can do about anything I want with it, I just recently started with vb, and I started with displaying a certain tile from the rom, now I can display any tile from this said rom, and edit some various bytes to change certain things (with some help from a very great vber Gavin), now I'm gonna work on other things namely getting the level to display, right now GUI is not really important, all I have now is load save and a button the when clicked loads the level...

Welcome back, even though i think this is the third time I've said it...

GBA has a lot of possiblities in hacks... and I think it would be great to start hacking some games for it...

Never where small shoes period.... and damn boy... if you played football, you'd have no idea where you would be right now.

Also, there's a little thing called offseason conditioning, even if it's just 30 minutes you'd be better off.

Posted on 08-28-04 04:55 AM, in Sleep Link
I happen to have a weird sleep schedule... no matter what time I go to sleep I'll usually wake up between 6-8 AM... even if I do go to sleep around 5 AM... and the weird thing is, is that I usually don't feel tired at all unless I pull a couple days in a row without much sleep.

Hope you can find some remedy for your problem Valcion. Maybe try alarm clocks and various other things to get you up on time...
