With this music import filter, will it be possible to import music from SNES games that don't use the N-SPC format? And could you add something to Solar Soundtrack that checks SPC files to see if they are the N-SPC type? I know some nice Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Kirby songs that I would want, but I have no clue how to determine if my SPC's are N-SPC or not.

I don't know exactly what blackhole89 plans to do, but the music import filter will most likely just import from SMW for now, as it varies only slightly from the N-SPC, and the other formats are very different from it.

Here's an incomplete list of games which use the N-SPC format:
F-Zero
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mario Paint
Stunt Race FX
Super Mario All-Stars
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
Super Scope 6
Yoshi's Safari

The Super Nintendo test ROM does as well, although it probably only has two tracks.

No Kirby or Donkey Kong Country games seem to use the N-SPC format, sorry.
Thanks for the list! This will save me eons of trying random SPC's once SS is released.

Yoshi's Island, Legend of Zelda: A link to the past, and Super Metroid are enough to make me happy.

It's a shame that Kirby games (at least to your knowledge) don't use the N-SPC format, I am crazy over that world 4-4 song in Kirby's Dreamland 3. I could try hand-recomposing that song, I did manage to make a (not-too-good sounding but perfectly sequenced) midi out of it, I could use that as a map to recreate it.

Thanks again, now I'll just wait for SS to come out. How much longer, BlackHole89, do you think we have to wait? Maybe a few weeks? Certainly not several months, though.

He's working on an importing filter from N-SPC to SMW's derivate N-SPC system. This is what I'm going to love about SST.

With SPC ripping APPs from Zophar's, you could rip your own music from your own game and distribute them as SPC files.

If you want it all on the same page, you'll have to do it manually. There are several threads, I fear too many, explaining how to do so. Look a bit deeper into the forum to find one. The loading the map16 page file is overwriting the first one you put in, so there's your problem.

Yoshi, that is way too obvious. Ragtime, you open the 16x16 tile editor window and press the down arrow key until you are at the page with the tile you inserted. Now click it and open the 8x8 tile editor. In the 16x16 tile editor, you click on modify 16x16 properties (or something like that), and you type in the numbers of the 8x8 graphic tiles for the four tiles it uses. To see the tiles and their numbers, you go to the 8x8 editor that you opened and find the tile you want. When you find it, hover the mouse over it to see it's tile number represented in the bottom left corner of the editor. Now, if your graphic tiles that you want are not in the 8x8 editor, you will have to change the tileset or use ExGFX. I will not get into ExGFX kthnx. As for the tile's palette, it's obvious that you go to the palette and choose which one to use. The layer priority setting just makes that tile appear "above" other layers and many sprites, if not all. Why won't I get into ExGFX? because it's quite a detailed explanation on how to do it. Oh, and before you ask, there's a sticky in this forum called the ExGFX workshop. I believe there are tutorials in there on how to do so.

It's a good idea to turn up the screen brightness on your computer for this part, I guess. This level does not have a light switch, at least to my knowledge, for I never found one. You should just keep persevering. The chain part is more of a kind of a maze, actually. (you probably already knew that) When you get to the top of the chain maze,
Spoiler:
you gotta fall down the chain at the very right of the screen, to find a P-switch.

I am 99% sure that SST does not change SFX sounds. Yeah, you probably will need the SMAS music in there, since noone knows how to change SFX, except maybe Bouche. I never noticed any difference in the explosion sounds for SMW and the DW3 patch, but if there is a difference maybe he can do it. Ask him, but don't expect a reply telling exactly how to do it.

However, there are a few very nice Lost Levels courses. If you were to make retro levels, why not be the unique hacker and make a level from some other game? Like DKC? Well actually that would be a bit hard, but why not at least a game with good GFX? It's not uh, "stealing" at all, it's just that if you're copying the level from some other game, and it's of the Mario series, we've probably already played it, and we would know where all the secrets are, little tricks to beating the level, etc.

They all are different versions of the same sprite, pointing to different hardcoded scroll patterns. If you found the data for the routines, you could edit them, if you know ASM. I know ASM, but I have never succeeded even once in tracing a routine properly, but it's always worth a try. I'll try it in a few days when I don't have tons of homework and reports, tests, etc.

How exactly do youmake the game check if there are any psrites on the screen? I couldn't find any ram adresses that held the current number of enemies on the screen. Is there one? Also, if there isn't one, where is the sprite OAM data that tells whether or not a certain sprite is dead? Thanks.

That was not helpful in any way. FuSoYa did not make the SMB3 music patch. Here you go, Spel.

Oh, go to Google's site. I saw it as FuSoYa. Ah well, to make this post count, I did realize I forgot to say a few things to Spel anyway.

This patch gives tyhe levels, animations, graphics, map16, palettes, etc. the the Demo World Patch has. If you are well acquainted with Lunar Magic, you should know that you can export and import custom graphics, exgraphics, map16, palettes, levels, overworld, etc. from your hack to the DW3 patch. And it does contain overowlrd music!

Well, I bumped a thread when I was a newbie, and that's all, as far as I know. I try to be friendly and helpful in the SMW hacking forum, maybe people will forget about my noobish ways way back when I registered. It wasn't until recently that I had actually started to become an active user here. Most everybody probably didn't know me when I signed up, but they probably know me as the guy with a marquee'd smiley link in his sig. I'm reading the date of the last post in a thread from now on, before posting.

They are part of the animated tiles. In the 8x8 editor, hold ctrl+shift and press page down to view animated and internal GFX. You might want to try finding this sort of stuff for yourself next time. Also, there is no way to implement exgraphics for the original animated tiles. You would have to use exanimations, I'm assuming that's what you want to do.

How is this not a request? It's not like you didn't notice the Stickied thread in caps with the F-word in this forum. Like they said. Most likely noone will do it for you, you'll just have to learn more about ASM and do it yourself.

I used to be homeschooled for eight years. Then I entered school back one grade last year.

Well I'm in 9th grade. I go to Life Christian Academy. It's a small school, I know almost everybody on a first-name basis, and the principal literally knows everybody. The orange-haired guy on the right is in my graphic arts class!

And what's wrong with my marquee link? I gotta fix that....

I always loved Mario. Toad even better. Ludwig the best, but I never see much of him.

I thought toad was hilarious in this one, considering his appearance style in the GB and NES Mario games. Mario was funny too.

Pimp Mario (and Toad)

Edit: I guess 'm forced to edit since noone's replied for an eternity now.

Here's a funny one, if you've been to YTMND before and checked out the popular tidbits there, you'd also think this is very funny. You'd probably think it's very funny anyway.

Bob-Omb Battlefield, YTMND-style.

If this is a background that you're trying to make, you obviously pointed one of the FG graphic files for your ExGFX. Use BG1. Also, if you are trying to actually insert the background, open Lunar Magic's 16x16 map editor. It is signified by a "?" block. Use the up and down arrow keys to change pages, then find the page with the tiles you want. Left click the tile you want to insert into the background, and then open the background editor window, signified by a green leaf. Make sure nothing is selected in the BG editor window, if there is, then left click again on the tile you want in the 16x16 editor. After you have done that, right click inside the BG editor window to paste that tile. As for palettes, under level, check "Use Custom palette". Then, open the palette editor, signified by a rainbow star, and edit the colors to your liking. If you don't know how to edit the map16 pages if a tile you want is not in there already, then please read the stickies and some back pages in this forum, I have already told a few how to do that, and others have too.
