Another 17" CRT Monitor (Should be mine soon enough.) A newer NVidia GeForce card. I want to build a box -just- for server use.. |

You can convert an AVI to an MPEG in a number of ways - If you have Nero it's uber easy. I have several Family Guy CDRs filled with MPEGs and they play on every DVD player in the house. They're called VCDs - Good stuff. |

Why is it that Parents will go out of their way to spend money on crap you don't want, yet will never lend you some cash for something you -want-? Case in point - My A/C broke last night and I'm using a fan and liking it very well. Using my A/C allways made me too cold. And If I wasn't too cold I was extremely hot.. Well she's wanting to rush out and buy me an expensive A/C - But yet she won't loan me about 50 bucks to have enough to buy a Monitor. It's things like this that annoy me the most. |

I allways figured Inuyasha was about 22 considering the age of and maturity of his brother. But to be honest I hate that show entirely too much to get stats and numbers on these things. |

You bring up some valid points. But let me reply to each of them. An A/C is not needed in my room - We have one in every room and they're allways on. So simply opening my door and turning on the fan is like an instant A/C. My health is not an issue in this case. And I do almost have enough for a new monitor but it's the shipping on a CRT that's going to bite me in the ass. And I really don't have a job right now (16 and no car - not good..) Allright, I haven't really used html in - forever. Other than simple edits here and there to alter pre-existing colors and layouts and such so to say I'm out of the loop is a vast under-statement. I can't seem to figure out the top of my layout is being "pushed down". Here's the html for it. http://left-foot.org/hey.txt Any help would be greatly appreciated. I refuse to select "SuSE LInux" because I simply do not use that. I use Gentoo Linux and I find it quite suitable for my needs for now. But I find that even it still takes away some of my choices.. I switched to Gentoo from Slackware because I wanted a source based distro and it went from that.. But portage pisses me off something awful. So I'll be switching to Linux From Scratch or FreeBSD soon enough. |

Well in *nix or perhaps Windows mplayer allows to pass this option "mplayer -vo x11 foo.ext" and it allows me to take screenshots of any video I care to show in a screenie. With the new version of Xorg out it actually runs faster than the xv module.. neat. |

If this IS a WinModem just pray it's a Lucent - From what I hear they're the easiest to get working in Linux. I wouldn't know - I've only used DSL in Linux. *Vim hugs is Realtek NIC |

Anyone around here using Perl in any way? I'm learning a slew of languages because I've been bored these past months and my social life is nill. My small list of learning or "to learn" languages. C. C++, Perl, Lua, Ruby, php and python. A couple of them are scripting languages but after using bash for a year exclusively I don't see that as a bad thing. |

Wasn't there an episode dealing with his father and mother in which they described the age differences between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru? I may be wrong but I think I remember seeing it one night. |

Gah, I hope I don't get a slap on the wrist for this - But ... I really don't think Wolfwood died. He IS in Trigun Maximum. |

Anyone had the pleasure of seeing this film? I'm dying to see it but it's not playing anywhere within my reach of seeing it. And I can't locate it on any p2p network or torrent.. I've heard nothing but good things and it looks simply amazing. |

I can pretty much agree with that URL - He is the very slightly lesser of the two evils. Even though I'd still prefer Ralph Nader win.. But hey I'm being realistic. |

I'm an avid reader of both - But I honestly think Ctrl + Alt + Del kicks Penny Arcade's ass. Ethan is so over the top and it features a Linux user and a Penguin - How can it get any better? I should write a script that delievers the latest comics to my email - I allways forget to check for the latest comic. |

Thanks man, I just may take you up one that. I think it's cool perl can be compiled into native binary. (edited by Vim on 09-14-04 10:53 AM) (edited by Vim on 09-14-04 10:54 AM) (edited by Vim on 09-14-04 10:54 AM) |

"GIMP is awesome when it comes to sheer creeping featuritis, which I guess is a good thing in picture editing. It's decidedly NOT awesome when it comes to interface outside of Linux. GIMP was engineered primarily to fit in with other Linux programs. It just didn't feel right on the Windows side of the fence." That's no accident. As far as I know there was no "official" Gimp port. It's just a GTK2 app which happens to build on Win32 currently due to the port of the libs it relies on. I thought the Windows GTK2 port had an engine which inherited the Windows widget? |

Service Pack 2 is known to cause massive ammounts of problems. And just because Norton doesn't pick up in something doesn't mean it's not a huge problem. |
