NetSplit - Thank You for your specific replies. I figured I had the enemies placed somewhat correctly, maybe it's just because I know where they're are, and I'm prepared for them. I will fix it. You sepak of VISINE, haveing an option of Automaticly ordering enemies? I don't have that. The only numbers on the sprites, are the sprtire numbers themselves, and the number that tells how many there are on that one screen. like, there a 3 sprites, and the sprties are numbered 0,1,2.

You speak about overly-demanding jumps. The only one I can think of that requires that pixel-perfect movement, is the first lower level of Flashman, where shotman and darkmegaman are. Could you please elaborate as to what other pits, in the first 8 levels, that require perfect jumping are?



Airman, first let me say, in desiging this game, I wanted to make it so you just can't blow through one level with your buster cannon. I made this game specificly, so your weapon dependant for certain levels. I know that's not Megaman tradition, that's why this is a hack, and wanted to give people a challange. That's why in Airman, I specificly used schworms, so they can hit you, but you can't hit them with the arm cannon. Now, the road. Because of pallete issues, I ran into some problems, especially with that level. So, I decided to make the street look like it was cut off, by making a diagonal cut, with a suprisingly floating Lightning Lord, waiting to be taken over, to get to the other side of the road. Because of pallete issues, I was unable to make a concrete looking street, and a black pit. I figured, I'd do the best I could with a little creation. The underground. If you look closeley, you can see where part of the wall is going "down" Any part of the wall the is going "down" is a pit, anything the goes straight across, is soild. As you can tell, when Megaman lands, that's the soild setting all the way across, to the ladder. You just have to pay attention to where certain walls go "down" I will look into this more, to make it look more understanding.

Invincibility time - As I noted in the very beginning, this hack is not for those, who just blow through levels. I know that makes it extremely harder, I just wanted to bring a challanging game, yet still beatable. I originaly had it much lower if you can believe that, lol. I was like "no way" lol. This game is made so you are "hit" The traditional Megaman style is, you can get by without being hit. Nope, not this hack. You will get hit in this game.

Crashman - The part you describe about invisible pits, I tried to do an original/re-creation of Wily 4. Where certain look-alike, tiles are soild, and some are invisible. But, instead of going up through them, your going down. I was thinking on making it obvious as to which ones are soild, and which ones are see through, but I felt that would take away from the puzzle, and the idea would be worthless altogether. I'm sorry you feel this is lame, but if there is a way to make it even, I'm open to suggestions.

You speak of poor grammer. I ran into several problems hex editing the original storyline. If I went to far with hex editing, the letters got screwed up, and not all of them would appear. So, I had to dummy down the story, to give the player an understanding of it. I understand the overuse of periods, it's my first time doing a major text editing job, but I felt comfortable with it. May I ask, wht is mispelled? Is it "strapped"?

I know your not bashing me, that's why I'm writing, so I can ask you an other, what problems persist, and what I can do to fix them. But i didn't throw this together in a few days, and released it without going through it. I've spent almost 4-5 months working on this. Granted, that's nothing compared to other works people have done. But I would constantly play through level after level, making sure things were in orded. I honestly felt very comfortable releasing this to the public. I thank you for your time, and hope I can fix the remaining issues to this game.

Also, there are 2 glitches that are still in this game, that havent been figured out yet. I know I should've spent more time trying to figure out the glitches, but I wanted to release this so badly. I hope others that read this will still enjoy it. This game is a total 360, to what traditional Megman games are. you will get hit, you can't just blow through enemies, you will need certain weapons/items, to gain proceed through levels. Bit-Blade - I haven't changed the hp of the enemies.

redrum - thank you for noticing the interesting concepts. There's been so much bashing, I'm starting to wonder if anybody noticed all the level backrounds, and little oddities throughout certain levels. Thank You. :-)

Fixed issue with recovery time. Recovery time is back to normal.

PSlugworth - Thank You for your comments! Megaman is a huge part of my gaming life as well. I honestly didn't feel this would play such a huge part in problems here. So I fixed it.

As to the garbage lines next to the -M- letters, when you obtain an item. I can't find the hex value for it, to disable it. I was able to find the " - " between where it says Item-1 or Metal-Blade, stuff like that.

And for the garbled stuff when you enter a boss door. That's everywhere. It's because I increased the speed of the doors opening and closing. I've tested it a few times, and it always happens when you increase the speed of the doors opening and closing.

Thank You for your repsonse and comments! I hope this new patch will allow players to get further through.

Also - I HATE GAME SAVES, and this game is possible to defeat without game saves. I made exactly sure of that. Another reason why there are rare critical jumps, is due to my earlier comments that, some places will, or are, weapon/item required. If you cant get across it, just use either item 1 or 2 But I did play this all the way through, and made changes, so save states will never be needed. Thank You for sharing the same pet peeve as me, lol.

Fixed issue with recovery time. Recovery time is back to normal.

UPDATE

Currently fixing some issues/complaints, expressed from fellow players. The following changes are.

Fixed "percise-timing jumping" in certain levels. i.e. Flashman and Wily3.

Changed Crashman's "invisible floor room"

Fixed Grammer

Removed Crash Door in Wily1. People having difficulty understanding to let item 3 die half way up tunnel, jump off of it as it dissapears, rapidly push start, select CrashBomb, rapidly press fire, and door is blown up. Don't worry, door is gone.

Switched around, removed, and moved, the shotman character in just about every stage of the game. . i.e. the guy that shoots 12 bullets straight and up. Made it so your not getting hit by suprise all the time. Still testing though.

Used F6 feature in VISINE to arrange sprites. Thank You NetSplit.

As you already know, invincibility time has been restored to normal.

And, currently, I'm in creative thought for Quickman's level, to insert buildings, where you would usually need items 2 and 1 or 3.

Made DarkMegaman, DarkFireman, DarkElecman, have the same color mask as the original SniperJoe did. So there will be no funky looking backround graphics appearing through DarkMegaman's face, and if it happened with others, this sould resolve it. BUT, those characters that have no shield, will have, no shield. I want them to have the indestructable feeling to them.

I hope people have made it to Wily 4. It's my favorite level. Very creative. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that level. If no one has gotten there yet, due to the difficulity of the game, an ips patch will be released in less than a few hours. I've tried to be original as possible with this game, and would really like to know what your likes/dislikes are of the graphics, level design, etc.

If there are any other issues you guys feel that need to be brought to my attention, please let me know. I want this hack to be enjoyable. Thank You for your time. I'll also be writing back about comments I've received about certain elements of the game, explaing why certain things were. Thanks! :-)

Here's the newly updated patch. If you're unaware of the changes, please look back on page 1. Also, I fixed the issues with the Schworm enemies on Airman's stage. No longer will you have to have a diagonal weapon to get the ones below your feet.

I also must warn, there are still 2 major glitches at the end of the game, that I've been unsuccessful at fixing. Woodman, Quickman, Flashman, & Bubbleman, in the 8 boss room of Wily5, they're all glitched. And when you defeat the Alien Wily, the game crashes. I have screenshots of the finale in my other previous thread. If there is anyone willing to take a look at my rom, and could possibly fix these glitches for me, it would be greatly appreciated, and the hack would be truley, "finished"

yeah that ladder glitch is kind weird where the extra life is. once I get it, I just bang a right, and let him fall. lol. You'll also notice that type of ladder/ladders in a certain level, you'll need that little glitch to advance to other ladders. But it does work, and it's save state free!! And I understand how it's hard to punch through the Woodman shield with the cannon going so fast, i've noticed that if you have a turbo button on, it works really well blasting through the shield. I believe my shot spped is 1 less than what is set in Rockman Exile. Looks like poor mario didn't defeat Woodman huh? :-( lol. Thank You for your compliment on Quickman's level! I love how I made the city lights blink, lol. Enjoy! And if there's any other problems/quirks, keep them coming asap! :-)

DurfarC - Thanks for the info. I was able to fix Quickman, and Bubbleman. The other 2, are in areas where I have specific enemy placements. Googie - lol, thank you very much! my original idea was to have just the world 1-1 level in Woodman, then, I started to get ideas. what if some of the blocks, coins were used, missing? So, I decided to make some of the coin blocks used, and some breakable blocks missing. Then, I was like, hmm, I want to make it look like mario was just here, that's where breakable blocks on the floor came in. Then, I was like, what if mario tried to fight woodman? lol, so, woodman shoots mario with a leve shield, and traps him! lol Thank You for your comments!

Dwedit - I like it just the way it is.

EDIT - Also, are there other hacking forums, or other websites, where I can post my hack? Thank You all for playing.

I just downloaded the program, and it asks for my rom filename and path. I have the folder on my desktop, and I copy down the address, and the name of the rom exaclty, and it says it's either empty, or can;'t be found, and then it creates a .deb file? no readme of any kind was included in the .zip file. I have version #0.01 Build 29. Any ideas, maybe an example of how to type it in correctly? Thanks :-)

EDIT - ok, i think i just had the .nes extention names wrong, it's working, but is there a tutorial on how to use this? can this insert, edit, change, sprites? can i add blocks? I know how to edit the map in some ways, but i can't figure out how to edit stuff in the actuall level. Thanks :-)

WOW, that SMB3 Workshop is awesome! I just got one question, which I'm sure will answer a ton in the future for me. I'm editing world 1-1. The very first goomba, I turned him into a hammer brother, saved the rom, tried running it, and the game crashes after you select the stage from the map, the screen fades to balck, and the music crashes, and eventualy stops, and the screen continues to stay black. So, is there a certain method to inserting, changing sprites? Thanks

EDIT - Also, I'm unable to find the latest .dat file that AP suggested.

i think i edited the bottom ground to look like world 3-1, instead of brown, it was blue, i think i went to a scrolling option that changed what type the ground was, it was either blue, brown, or "!" so, i take it that changing the ground is a no-no.

I could've easily said, fuck it, i give up, but i moved on. you, and other people want to call me a clinger, fine, but move on. Your were extremely generous in helping me. and I'm thankful for that. I've learned alot of shit from you, and i'm starting to get into asm hacking for my next project. It's not liked I asked you to make my hack. I had tremendous glitches, which I asked if you could fix, you did 1 of them, which I was very thankful for, you told me exactly what to do for the other one, I did it, and it didn't work, and after I told you that, and asked if you could fix that last thing for me, you acted like solid snake, and scurried away into evasion mode. I'd accept your little comment you made about me, if I "was" or "am" one of those newbies, that hound for shit, try it for a day, and give up. Well, I'm not. Go check out Megaman Ultra, and tell me different. Yes, there are a few program changes, but it's something, yeah there are still glitches in the end of the game, but I'll figure it out. Welcome back, and nuff said.

lol, i'm sorry, i know about that, that's the major glitch that I cant figure out. :-( Congrats on beating the game though!!!

This editor is sick! I'm hacking Megaman 4 now, and this is going to be wild. But I've got an issue. I know how to take from the tile table, and edit the TSA block section. But, how can I copy the TSA block, onto the Screen Editor? I'm able to copy and paste whatever is on the Screen Editor Screen itself. But I can't take anything from the TSA Table section, and place it onto the Screen Editor. This is stopping me from creating the hack. Any ideas? Thank You for your replies!!

EDIT - I'm using version 0.3 if anyone needs to know.
EDIT - Figured it out. Structure Table. I must have missed it.

Hey thanks for the info.

I've already begun editing the shit out of some stages, doing some tests and such. The thing that blows my mind about this editor, is that I can easily put pieces together with this. When looking at Megaman2 in TLP, each piece is upper left, bottom left, upper right, lower right, and as to Megaman 3-6, it's a disaster when looking at it. Once I started messing around in the Tile Table, I was like, "oh, shit!" things are going to be alright!" Now, after what I've seen, I'm thinking on hacking Megaman's 3-5 with this editor, creating a trilogy, so to speak. Still thinking about it though. It's difficult to be original with level designs, especially when your considering on doing a trilogy. But for now, I'm still trying to figure out sprite placements, and working with the pallete program built into the editor. So, the SMB fanatics that played Megaman Ultra due to seeing Woodman's stage morphed to world 1-1, will not be dissapointed with future releases. I'll also be looking into other nes titles, to emerse Megaman in. Like I said, this editor is sick, and it looks like I'll be busy for quite a long time.
