those aren't the same instant death spikes that kill you even after touching the sides of them that were in that Japanese guy's SMB1 hack with the side-scrolling levels, are they?

So Pedro's goin' to the Mets for 4 years, 50 million. I guess he figures however much more money they were giving them compared to what Boston was going to give him is enough money to deal with the feeling of missing the playoffs for the next four years.

You mean Winslow? Yeah, I was mad that the Browns didn't draft Roethlisberger when they had the chance. What the hell kind of strategy is it to trade a draft pick to move in front of one team that wasn't even looking to draft the player you were looking for. I hated Winslow in college, and his holding out didn't help change anything. All I can do is hope all the experts are right about his potential. It ain't all Davis' fault though...I mean, look at what's left of this team. 17 yards of offense in four quarters, and 15 of those yards came on a garbage drive to end the game. It's unbelievable year after year how many players end up on IR. And with the one year that they stayed healthy, they made the playoffs. But yeah, they're looking at a #2 pick now. I wouldn't even pick the Browns to beat Miami at this point. There isn't a single position that I would mind them upgrading in the draft. |

But Couch was Chris Palmer's and not Davis's pick though, right? It's pretty clear that if Davis had to draft a QB that he'd take whoever was playing QB for the Miami Hurricanes.

Yeah, some guy at the mall tried to peddle one of these on me for 55 dollars, saying that "tomorrow it'll be $120, and everyone will still buy one". He wouldn't believe me when I told him I already had every single NES game imaginable on one CD at home. But yeah, it'd be awesome if anyone could find some way to load those things up with some real hacks. Or to be able to customize and rewrite what games will be on the thing, kind of like a Ipod that runs Rom images. (edited by 46 on 12-15-04 01:54 AM) |

So, a few years ago I found this code for SMB3 (SOPGOG) which makes shells and ice blocks bounce when you kick them. But it also messes up Racoon Mario's Tsa. Maybe you guys can figure out how to eliminate that problem?

That's a cool idea. I once had a thought of editing TSB into a college football game, but just never got around to starting it. The biggest flaw with TSB editing, from what I remember, is that you could take a team like New England, and stack it with players like what they have now, and they'd be a good team to play as, but if you autoskip the whole season they'll still go 2-14 every year because the CPU would still think they're awful. But this was like four years ago. Does the game still have that type of problem? |

I also like the green dungeon blocks (they looked almost exactly the same as Strange MB3 before), as well as the former blue "x" boxes, and the clouds. The bricks would be awesome if you got rid of the rounded edges; those just don't look right..

Could anyone say where the pointer data for the map screens is, so that I can import it from the original rom? I seem to have destroyed mine for level 2 beyond repair, because I know I have everything in the proper order, but I can't get one level to link properly in the 10-1F portion of the map. I could go and revert to a backup file, but I'd lose a lot of new graphics. It'd be nice if the editors could automatically sort map pointers... |

The only movies I can think of that I've watched and hated: Scary Movie 3 Spider-Man 2 The Matrix Reloaded (I think that's the second one...I skipped the 3rd one from total apathy following the 2nd.) Stigmata Panic Room Darkness Falls I can name about 50 more that I never watched because of being almost certainly worse than all of those. |

If it's completed, and it's a game I'm familiar with and still care about, hell yeah I'll go out of my way to play a level-only hack. As for demos, though, If I had as much spare time as I used to, I'd play those all the time, but now I limit myself only to those whose screenshots look exceptional. And that's not easy to do when the only changes are to the level design and there's only one world's worth of new levels. (edited by 46 on 02-19-05 03:55 AM) |

Yeah, my favorite part of Reloaded was at the end, when it said "To Be Continued...", immediately followed by some guy in the theater screaming out "WHAT???". You're right about the slow start; they kept on teasing the audience with what the film could potentially be, but there was just way too much endless and totally meaningless dialogue that just became agonizing to watch before too long. Then the movie finally picks up during the last 10 minutes, only to have it end right in the middle of it, and I guess they thought that's all they needed to get people to watch part three, but I wasn't gonna let them play me like that. I just cut my losses and refused to watch anymore of the series. I noticed a lot of unhappy faces coming out of that movie theater, and I was relieved to find out that it wasn't just me. |

Just a thought, I know I wouldn't be able to do it (on my own, at least), but it would be awesome if there could be like this vertical health bar that appears when you get to the boss (a la Megaman), and (s)he loses a certain number of bars when you jump/fireball it and whatnot.

I'm coming back and I'm going to give this a try. I made some slick map layouts and after successfully redesigning the first world, the second one kept throwing me off, just when I thought I figured out how everything was programmed and all the pipes worked, and I just kind of pushed the game aside out of frustration. If this could fix some of my problems then it would be awesome.

Originally posted by beneficiiOriginally posted by 46 This took place several months ago, and my hack currently resides on the hard drive of a non-operating computer, so I don't remember all the exact details. I basically made a list of every position that the "enemy" that changes your map position could be in, and which map coordinates each one moves you to. I do not know how to change the actual coordinates; I just would load up the enemy data that had the existing coordinates I wanted to use. So I was able to get this done in world 1 just fine. But once I got to world 2, I'd set the pipes down on the map, and it would send me to different coordinates than what I had recorded. I'm presuming it's because of the map scrolling, and I know that's what was causing my other map problems as well. Let me know if there's anything that needs clarifying because I'm pretty much using my own terminology for all this. |

I think Cleveland is going to win the Wild Card, with NY winning the East, Oakland in the West, Chicago hanging on by a thread or two in the Central, and Boston and Anaheim sitting out.

That rules. I'm just a no-frills level and graphic hacker, but I have a couple ideas for using the pipes that I've yet to see anyone do yet. I really would like nothing more than to pull them off properly. So yeah, once I get that old hard drive onto a computer where I can use my flash drive, I'm gonna see if this program can do the trick. . |
