Posted on 03-02-05 03:35 AM, in Need some advice with some the stuff that I'm doing. Link
Question #1: I asked a question about how to insert the pow graphics from SMAS to SMW I have found the graphics and I saved it to a GFX file but I was talking to Ice Man this afternoon and he said that I have to extract the GFX from my rom including the (AllGFX.bin file) and put the pow graphics along in the allGFX.bin file, but I can't find that in my GFX folder is this true what ice man said about the AllGFX.bin file or was a screw up on his part ?

Question #2: when I insert custom ExGFX files or GFX into LM I can see them in the 8x8 but I can't drag it out on the screen would someone please tell me how to quickly do this ?

Question #3 I have a question about solar sound tracks, black hole said that we can insert SMAS music into SMW by entering notes, but something is still nagging me about that..... is it possible to make custom music by entering custom notes from a MIDI file or wave file ? also I am not asking when the program comes out.

also I want to use this new backrground for my title screen but was wondering if the rom can handle this background or not ?

Sorry about asking questions but I just needed these answered before I go on with my hack.

Ok I did what you said odd goo everything almost works but I stiil have a small problem, I inserted the AllGFX.bin file to LM and did not detect it in the list should I use normal seperate GFX files for LM to detect it ?

here is a update:

Ok I seperated the GFX files I can clearly see it on the 8x8 editor but not in the 16x16 editor or add custom blocks part.... can someone please tell me what the heck is going on ?

Posted on 03-08-05 05:08 AM, in Problems again with title screen graphics (this time its worse!) Link
I have been when working with my title screen and I have come up on a serious problem that I have been dealing with today.
I decided to give my title screen a new look but it seem's like that when I put in a background it works for a few minutes until I save it, after I do this by pressing F9 in both 8x8 and 16x16 editors and saving the rom I'll open it again to make sure there are no screw ups I see that the foreground tiles are screwed over, plus the background I just did is screwed up, its all garbage and the tile lines are everywhere! Plus everytime I insert backgrounds and new ExGFX I am down to my last 4 map 16 pages and I can't make any more screw ups or I can kiss my hack good bye.....!
Is there anyway I can clear this up in LM ?

here is a screen shot of my current problem:

P.S.
if I reinsert a new clean set of GFX it will screw up everything in the rom

Kyouji, I am not using ExGFX from the ExGFX workshop, I am creating them in LM and then I am cleaning it out in a tile editor and making a fresh new one. does anybody know why I am having this issue with inserting certain backgrounds like the one in the screen shot ?

MadMikeXP
P.S.
also I been working with Ice man on this and he say's to install new GFX when I insert the background but that only screws the whole rom up......

I need to ask you guys something is there away I can modify how a enemy reacts say like the green shelled koopa'a act like the blue or the red shelled koopa's act like the yellow shelled koopa's or your spin jump won't work on squishable enemies ?

Plus I've heard alot about block tool and I was wondering where I could find this ? the reason for this is I finally manage to put the pow block from SMB2 in my hack (thanks Ice Man!), but I want it to either shake the screen or be like a bomb omb and blow up.

thanks

Hey I have a question I need to ask, I was working with mario sprites from SMB3 and I wanted to see if I could import one of the SMB sprites into a GFX file and then onto LM, but the thing is though I don't know the exact size for mario's 2 frames that matches the one in the GFX file. I looked at the allgfx.bin file to see what size I needed to make it and import, but I didn't have any luck with it can someone please help me out with this ? also do I need to drop mario's colors down to 256bit or 16bit ?

I have a important qusetion, I've been working with mario's body frame from SMB3 and i need to ask a question when I copy mario's sprite to YY-Chr including his head attached to it, it seem's like his body with the head attached takes up some space even though it is 16x32..... do I need to take off his head and only replace the body frame that is in SMW and put the cut off head and replace the heads that are in SMW ?

please don't laugh at the post its not a joke.....

I'll say it again for the last time:
when I import the mario sprite to YY-Chr do I need to have the complete sprite imported or do I need half the sprite example (Mario's body with his included or half the sprite with just the body and no head. if you still don't get it, go look in the allgfx.bin and find mario's frame and you'll see what I mean..... for cryin outloud!

Hey, I have been making some progress with inserting the hammer brothers suit into my hack, but I am at stump of which I can't get over I have copied and pasted mario's head into the allgfx.bin file to replace those in SMW.... and when I did this I am getting a crappy looking color and size of mario's head do I need to use a palette from a save state or do I need to do this differently ? also his head appears to be slightly off.

thanks keikonium for the help.

Look here folks..... don't get pissed off at me because everything isn't as picture perfect you want it to be ! Implementing the hammer brothers suit isn't a easy job if you can do better you go ahead and spend days or weeks at a time trying this and then you'll understand it ain't that easy and what I had to go through to get that suit 75% right with keikononuims for the time being.

all I ask for is a little help and this is what I get......

Is this possible to do ? because I don't want to delete the palette for my custom backgrounds, but for the custom sprites that messed up colors.
