Zap and Teddylot were alone in the corner of the room, going over some the remaining battles. Zap looked up and noticed that everybody was starting to get irritable, so he tried to settle them down.

Zap: Umm, sorry about the delay. I've been somewhat busy lately, but no worries, I will definitely have the last few judgings up by Monday. I'm trying to be as fair and constructive with these as possible. Just a heads up.

Teddy caught the bag of money and jingled it around a bit. The bag was quite light. The teddy went to the window display and removed the magical spear, then he went back to the clerk and tossed it onto the counter.

Shopkeeper: So, it will be this and the pair of jeans?

Teddy: Yeppers.

Shopkeeper: How will you be paying?

Teddy tossed the bag of money onto the table.

Teddy: Will that cover it all?

The clerk took a monocle out of his pocket and used it to examine the bag's contents. After a bit of calculating, he looked up with a dull face.

Shopkeeper: I'm afraid not.

Teddy: You don't look scared.

Shopkeeper: No, this will not cover your expenses.

Teddy: No?

Shopkeeper: Yes.

Teddy: Good.

Teddy swiped the jeans and the spear from the counter, then promptly followed Hikari out of the store.

Shopkeeper: You're supposed to ... nevermind. J-just don't come back. *monocle pops out of his eye*

Zap, who had collected all the papers and stats which were laying on the floor where he was working, stood up and headed toward the podium to make his final judging decisions. He waited silently as he gained the room's attention. The room became quite silent as the champions waited with bated breath. Zap gave his speech with a homely speech style without any dramatism.

Zap: Congratulations to all for putting on such great spectacles of strength, endurance, skill, and wit. On behalf of Teddylot, who has recently had too much root beer, I will be presenting my final decisions on the remaining battles.

The camera pans from Zap to Teddylot who is conked out on the floor where they were scrutinizing their notes from the second round's fights. Random A&W cans were littered all around him ... amidst them, the occasional Cream Soda. Yum.

First of all, Cappa vs. MetalMan88 ... you both have improved from your previous battles and I commend you for it. It shows that you both have room and potential for even more improvement. You were well-matched and you didn't do too many things wrong. However, there wasn't that much spectacular either, but that comes with experience and creativity ... just keep on coming up with new moves to try against your opponents. When you move further in the tournament, you'll even be forced to try new things because of the power players and their styles. Finally, I would like to comment a tiny bit on how you guys worked with your moves. Most of the time, when you two issued attacks, they were followed by an "if this hits it will cause lots of damage" or "if this hits, you'll suffer a deep flesh wound." Although the cases might not be that extreme, such repercussions should be implied by the move ... sometimes it might be necessary to specify what the attack does, but if it's a simple move, you shouldn't go about it that way. This will develop as your style does. *sighs* Alright ... my vote goes to MetalMan88. Now believe me, this decision was very difficult to make since you were both very even, but in my opinion, it seemed like MetalMan was more in control of the battle (and therefore most likely to win,) and he also seemed to have more, not detail, but creativity in his attacks. Oh and if you want the arena is always there for you to manipulate however you want in the beginning. It can be quite the ally.

Zap took the glass of water set for him from the podium and took a few sips before flipping the page to his next decision.

Zap: Next up ... Kirbynite vs. Melvin ... this battle was a killer to judge for a few reasons. First of all, they were evenly matched ... they always are and they always have been. Second, Kirbynite is a good friend of mine, and I know Melvin fairly well, so I felt like I'd be insulting one of them for making a certain decision. Don't feel that way ... please. Anyway, I flip-flopped a lot when making my decision because I couldn't really pinpoint any major, or even minor, faults (until I re-read it just recently,) and because they were dead even in every category I had. Finally, I noticed an action that wasn't so smooth by one of the players. I won't say now, but I will mention it when I post a reply in the actual thread. This tilted my decision to ... Kirbynite. Good job, I will see you both soon in the tournament thread to explain my decision.

Zap flipped to the next page, took another sip of water then let out a giant sight of relief.

Zap: Alright ... next up is ... hmm ... damn, lost my place. Ah, yes. Sion vs. Seph2k4 ... this was quite interesting to judge because it brought up quite a few issues that I thought would play very much in my current judgings as well as my future ones. But once I read the fight again, then analyzed it, I didn't really see anything that would've altered my judging patters. Sion gets my vote, and I will explain it soon in its own post in the tournament thread.

Finally ... Jarukoth vs. Dracoon ... another tough judging. Dracoon ... let me just say this ... you have come a long way from where you started out in these forums. Your fighting and writing skill has dramatically increased, and you have matured to become quite the fighter. Jarukoth ... I haven't seen many of your battles, but I do know that you have remained consistent and good throughout the years (of course, you have improved as well.) Now, you both fought well, but I felt that Jarukoth was the better fighter in this round. He kept the offensive almost the entire time, and when he lost it, he took it right back up. If the battle were to continue, however, it would be a very close call. Both of you fought hard and well. Congratulations.

Teddylot strode onto the stage with a lampshade on his head and a can in his paw. He staggered a bit then looked around in random directions until it up and off his head.

Teddylot: ... .-.

Zap: ...

Teddylot: Woo ... glad that's over with.

Forever.

Actually, I think the real question is ... 'why should you care?"

I mean, after all, it's just a game ... for leisure ... for both sides. I'll get to it when I have the time and when I want to. Meanwhile, try out some other good games going on or ... start your own.

Teddylot suddenly popped out of nowhere, which he is customed to do, and adjusted himself next to power Kirbynite. He took a sheet of scratch paper from his pocket and began to read aloud to all those in the area in a manner which emphasized words that ought not to be and which lacked flow.

Teddylot: ... Why Kirby-nite! I do not think I ... have heard of these Story Forum Awards ... or "Danis" of which you speak. Please tell ... us about what they may be.

Teddylot folded his little scrap of paper and pocketed it, then looked blankly into space.

Although confronted by Bel first, Teddylot, instead, popped up from behind Kirbynite to add a little quirk.

Teddylot: Throwing things around with yourself, huh? That's a sure sign of schizo. You might want to get some medications to stabilize the enzyme releases in your brain. And as for those award thingers, I think a good foundation lies in Best Story and Best Story Forumer. *gun motion*

Teddylot then shifted his attention back to his original peeve, Bel.

Teddylot: Right ... yeah, that whole somersault-thing-whatever was pointless. If you want to show off, join the circus ... or, I dunno, do ... other ... stuff--Anyway, the name's Teddylot. It has two t's and a bunch of other letters. I came from nowhere, and I had pie for breakfast. It was disgusting.

----------

Meanwhile, the party was joined by a much more quiet character. Unnoticed, Zap strolled through the ego-crowded backyard until he reached a picnic table where he sat down to eventually and hopefully join the important conversation at hand when his opinion may be needed.

Zap, who was originally slouching, layed back against the tabletop and reached out to grab the drink so generously served to him. He took a few gulps and surprisingly found that it was exactly to his liking.

Zap: Thanks for the refreshment. And yeah, that category would definitely be a good one, since it has so many possible candidates. =P You know, since this is a blantant rip-off of the Oscars maybe there could be "lifetime" achievement awards for the past and longtime Story Forumers.

Zap looked around in search of a few familiar faces whom he thought were needed in this general conversation. He sat up, then rose his voice a bit to speak to Kirbynite.

Zap: Hey Kirb. I think maybe Hiryuu and Anya should be part of this as well. Although they aren't as ... recognized, they are also an active core to the Story Forum community, plus we don't know much about that side of it.

He then leaned back once again and continued to converse with User Grey.
